GE Names John Flannery as CEO as Jeff Immelt Steps Down

General Electric announced that Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt, 61, will be stepping down. John Flannery, 55, current president and CEO of GE Healthcare, has been named CEO. Immelt will remain chairman of the board through his retirement from the company at the end of the year. Flannery will take over as chairman of the board next year.

Monica Caldas, currently CIO for GE Transportation’s global services and digital solutions teams, will take over as CIO for the entire unit. GE Transportation’s CIO Nancy Anderson moved to the CIO role at GE Power.

General Electric Appoints CTO of GE IT and CIO for GE Power

Chris Drumgoole has been appointed VP and CTO of GE IT. Drumgoole joined GE in April of 2014, and most recently he served as GE IT's COO focused on transforming IT across GE. Drumgoole is a longtime cloud expert and pioneer who most recently held the position of SVP, Global Operations and COO, Verizon Terremark, before joining GE. Drumgoole was working as SVP, Engineering and Product Development at Terremark Worldwide when Verizon bought the company.

General Electric CTO to Retire; President and CEO of GE’s Power Generation Business to Assume Role

General Electric CTO Mark Little, 59, will retire at the end of the year after 37 years of dedicated service and leadership to GE. He was named CTO in 2005 and has led Global Research through a decade of global expansion and the launch of signature initiatives such as the Industrial Internet and Brilliant Factory.

GE Names CTO for GE Software  

GE appoints Harel Kodesh, 56, as VP, CTO, GE Software. Kodesh joined GE from Nurego, where he served as CEO and founder. He served as an EVP at VMWare and President of Cloud Infrastructure Business and CEO of Digital Echo at EMC. He served as the CEO of Decho, CEO of Mozy, Chief Product Officer of Amdocs, President and CEO of Wingcast Corporation, a joint venture between the Ford Motor Company and Qualcomm, VP of the Productivity Appliance Division and VP of the Information Appliances Division at Microsoft.

Target Hires GM's IT Security Exec Brad Maiorino as SVP & CISO after Massive Data Breach Last Year

Target has hired Brad Maiorino as SVP & Chief Information Security Officer. Maiorino will be responsible for Target’s information security and technology risk strategy helping to ensure that the company, its guests and team members are protected from internal and external information security threats. He will report to Bob DeRodes, the newly appointed EVP and CIO. Maiorino comes to Target from General Motors where he was the company’s Chief Information Security and Information Technology Risk Officer.

Symantec Terminates CEO; Appoints Board Member as Interim Leader 

Symantec appointed board member Michael Brown as interim president and CEO, following the termination of Steve Bennett as the company's president and CEO and his resignation from Symantec's board. A special committee of the board will immediately begin the search for a permanent CEO with the assistance of a leading executive search firm. Steve Bennett was named Symantec’s CEO in July 2012. Prior to that, Bennett joined Symantec’s board in February 2010, and was chairman from 2011 to 2013.

Berkshire Hathaway Adds Eagle Capital’s General Partner to Board

Berkshire Hathaway named Meryl Witmer, 51, a general partner at Eagle Capital, as Director, as the panel prepares for the eventual departure of Chairman Warren Buffett. From 1989 through the end of 2000, she was one of two General Partners at Buchanan, Parker Asset Management which managed Emerald Partners, an investment partnership.
