CFO on Juniper Networks’ Board

Mercedes Johnson, 55, has joined as Director on the Board of Juniper Networks. Johnson served as SVP & CFO at Avago and as SVP & CFO at Lam Research. She also previously held executive leadership and management roles at Applied Materials, Nanometrics, NCR and HP.

Semiconductor Company Selects NetApp CMO as Board Member

Lam Research announced that Christine Heckart has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Currently, she is serving as CMO at NetApp. Before joining NetApp, Heckart was GM for Microsoft’s TV, Video, and Music division. She has also served as the head of global marketing at Juniper Networks.

Citi Vetran Joins Qlik

Qlik Technologies announced that Deborah Hopkins, 56, Chief Innovation Officer at Citi, has joined its Board of Directors as an Independent Officer. She also serves as Chairman of Citi’s venture capital initiatives and has co-chaired Citi’s Women’s Initiative. Hopkins is also an advisor to Riverwood Capital. She held various roles in Citi including Chief Operations & Technology Officer, Head of Corporate Strategy and M&A. Prior to Citi, Hopkins was CFO at Boeing and Lucent Technologies. She has also served on the Board of Directors of DuPont for five years.

Robotics Company Appoints Star CFO to its Board

iRobot, a leader delivering robotic technology-based solutions, announced the addition of Gail Deegan, 64, to its Board of Directors. Currently, Deegan serves on the Board of EMC. Prior to this, she was a member of Board of Directors and CFO at Houghton Mifflin. She also served as a member of the board of directors at the TJX Companies, Hartford Life, and EG&F.

Longtimer Leaves Removable Data Storage Company

Imation announced that Linda Hart, 70, has retired as Non-executive Chairman of its Board of Directors. Hart was a director of Imation since its inception in 1996 and was later elected Non-Executive Chairman in 2007. She currently serves as Vice Chairman and CEO of Hart Group. Prior to joining Hart in 1990, she was engaged in private practice of law in Dallas. Hart also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Center for Strategic & International Studies, the Women's Leadership Board, and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Ex-Ingram Sales VP on Virtual Storage Products’ Board

Dot Hill Systems announced the appointment of Debbie Tibey, 51, as a member of the Board of Directors. She currently serves as Principle of Zoey, an Educational Publishing Company. Tibey also serves as Director of Proximetry, Healthzones, Pomeroy IT Solutions, Interlink Networks. She serves as Member of Advisory Council of Proximetry, ColdLight, and Softsearch. Tibey was with Ingram Micro for 13 years, most recently serving as SVP of Sales. Prior to Ingram, Tibey was working as VP & GM of Export for European Software Distributor Askasoft. Before that she served as Director of Sales and Marketing for Creighton Development, a PC and Apple software developer.

Sudden Exit at Font Technology Software Company

Bitstream announced the sudden resignation of Anna Chagnon, 43, its CEO & President. She has also resigned as a director of the company. Amos Kaminski, Chairman of the Board has agreed to take over as Executive Chairman and Interim CEO. Chagnon, 43 has been with Bitstream since 1997 and served in different roles during her time at the company, including VP of Finance & Administration, CFO & General Counsel, and COO.

Based Entrepreneur on Carrier and Messaging Solutions Board

Voice Mobility International announced that Theresa Carbonneau has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors. She worked in various roles at BT in the UK and Canada. Carbonneau founded two technology companies, fSONA Communications, a Vancouver based network equipment manufacturing company and Syntagma Networks Services, a SaaS company offering IP services to small and medium enterprises in Canada. She also led an international consortium to successfully achieve a national license for a wireless operation in Iraq. Carbonneau also serves as an Advisor with the US based fund Signal Lake Ventures.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
