Capital One Appoints Former Amazon CISO to Board  

American bank holding company Capital One Financial Corporation announced that Tom Killalea, an experienced technological innovator, and the former Chief Information Security Officer at, to a newly created seat on the Board. Killalea has been an advisor to private technology-driven companies since November 2014. He also serves on the boards of Orreco and of MongoDB, and is on the Advisory Board of Profitero.

Lululemon Athletica Appoints Its Former Logistics & Distribution CIO as Board Member

Lululemon Athletica appointed Kathryn Henry to the company's board. Henry previously served as CIO, Logistics & Distribution at lululemon athletica from 2010 to 2014. Since 2015, she has served as a strategic consultant for retail and technology companies, in addition to venture capital, investment and consulting firms. Prior to joining lululemon in 2010, she worked at Gap, where she served as VP and CIO of International IT and Gap North America. Prior to that, she was VP of Dockers Business Divestiture and VP of Global IT Strategy & Development at Levi Strauss & Co.

Auto Trader Group Appoints Vodafone Exec as Non-Executive Director

UK-based digital automotive company Auto Trader Group plc named Jeni Mundy as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Mundy is the Enterprise Product Management Director for Vodafone Group. Mundy started her career as a Radio Engineer with BellSouth in New Zealand before joining Vodafone in 1998. Her roles for the Group have included five years as CTO in New Zealand managing IT and the mobile network, five years as the Vodafone UK CTO, and a year leading the Northern Europe Sales team for multi-national customers.

Texas Capital Bancshares Elects TSYS CIO as Member of the Board

Texas Capital Bancshares elected Patricia A. Watson as a member of the board. Watson currently serves as Senior EVP and CIO for TSYS. Prior to joining TSYS in September 2015, she served as Global CIO for The Brinks Company.

Z Energy Appoints Julia Raue as an Independent Director      

New Zealand based fuel distributor Z Energy named Julia Raue as an independent director on the Z Board. Raue is a professional director and most recently was CIO of Air New Zealand between 2007 and late 2015.

Windstream Holdings Appoints Couple of Tech Execs to Board         

Windstream Holdings appointed Jeannie H. Diefenderfer and Larry Laque to the company's board. Jeannie Diefenderfer, 54, is founder and CEO of courageNpurpose.  She has nearly 30 years of technical and operational leadership experience with Verizon Communications. She served as SVP of customer care and operations for Verizon Business from 2010 to 2012.  She also held senior leadership positions in global network engineering, planning and procurement at Verizon.

Larry Laque, 57, serves as EVP of global real estate and facilities for Discovery Communications. Laque previously served as EVP and co-CIO and co-head of enterprise operational services for Discovery, where he oversaw global IT infrastructure for the company.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
