Amazon Exec Joins as Director of Kingfisher

British multinational retailing company Kingfisher plc announced the appointment of Rakhi Parekh, 41, as a non-executive director of the Company. Parekh having spent 11 years at Amazon.com in various roles from 2002-14, most recently was Director, UK Media at Amazon, responsible for ranges such as books, music and DVDs. Prior to joining Amazon, Parekh held roles at TomTom (wireless products) and in management consultancy in the United States. 

State Street Appoints Former Raytheon Information Solutions Leader to Board

State Street Corporation announced the appointment of Lynn Dugle, 55, to its board of directors. Dugle, most recently served as president of intelligence, information and services (IIS) at Raytheon. In this role, she was responsible for the company’s cyber security services, advanced cyber solutions and information-based solutions. She also served as VP of engineering, technology and quality for the former Network Centric Systems (NCS) business at Raytheon and was responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and operations of the engineering, technology and quality functions. Dugle currently serves on the board of directors of Engility Holdings.

Scotiabank Appoints Veteran Technology Investor to Board

Scotiabank announced that Scott Bonham, 53, has been appointed a new member of the Bank's Board of Directors. Bonham is the Co-Founder and Partner of The Fueling Station. Prior to this role, he helped build a leading venture capital firm, GGV Capital, that raised more than $2 billion and has invested in more than 100 companies through a span of industries including consumer internet, mobile computing and enterprise software, in the U.S. and China. Prior to co-founding GGV in 2000, he served as VP of The Capital Group Companies where he managed technology investments across several mutual funds. Bonham also served in various marketing roles at Silicon Graphics.

Former Royal Dutch Shell CIO Joins Board of American Equity Life

American Equity Investment Life Holding Company elected Alan D. Matula, 55, to serve as a director. Matula currently serves as the CIO for Weber-Stephen Products. Matula served as CIO of Royal Dutch Shell from January 2006 to 2015.

Former IBM Exec Joins Board of Furniture Chain Ethan Allen Interiors

Ethan Allen Interiors announced the election of Mary Garrett, 57, as an independent director of the company. Garrett most recently served as VP, Marketing and Communications for IBM Global Sales and Distribution, and in addition was secretary for the IBM Board of Advisors. Previously, Garrett led worldwide marketing for IBM Global Technology Services.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
