IBM Software EVP Retires
Steven A. Mills, 64, EVP, Software & Systems, retired from IBM, after a 42-year career with the company. Mills played a leading role in the growth of IBM Software Group since its inception in 1995 and under his leadership the company acquired over 30 software firms since 2001. He was appointed to his latest position in January last year. Mills joined IBM in 1973 after graduating New York’s Union College and has held a variety of leadership positions throughout his IBM career.
SAP owned SuccessFactors Appoints Strategy VP from Gartner
SAP announced that Yvette Cameron will join the company's SuccessFactors business as global VP for strategy. In this new role, Cameron will help drive the visioning and long-term planning for the SAP SuccessFactors business. Cameron was most recently at Gartner, where she served as research director, HCM Technologies.
Adobe Appoints Marketing Exec as APAC Marketing Lead
Adobe appointed Marta DeBellis as the new VP, Marketing for the company's Asia Pacific operations, stepping into the position recently vacated by Hisamichi Kinomoto, who has resumed a full-time focus on the company's important market in Japan.
Over the last two years, DeBellis has led global campaign planning for Adobe's Digital Marketing business as well as driven co-marketing strategies worldwide with Adobe's Digital Marketing partners including large global agencies and system integrators. This appointment marks her return to the APAC region.
VMware Sees Changes on the Board and Leadership Team
Retired CFO of Accenture Pamela J. Craig, 58, and former CFO of Cisco Dennis D. Powell, 68, resigned from the Board of Directors of VMware. VMware elected Donald J. Carty, 69, as a member of the Board.
Carty is also a member of the EMC board of directors, on which he has served since January 2015. Carty is currently a private investor. He served as Vice Chairman and CFO of Dell, and as Chairman and CEO of AMR Corporation and American Airlines.
SVP of Finance at VMware Janesh Moorjani joins Infoblox as CFO.
VMware announced key changes to its R&D leadership team in India, with the appointment of Niranjan Thirumale as VP and managing site director, R&D, India. Thirumale takes the reins from Niranjan Maka, who has moved to the company's headquarters in Palo Alto, California, to head VMware's global R&D sites. Thirumale's previous stint was at EMC, where he was serving as CTO of the EMC India Center of Excellence. He has also held senior leadership roles at NetApp and IBM.
Electronic Arts COO Moves to New Role of Chief Competition Officer
Electronic Arts announced that Peter Moore, the company's COO, is moving into a new role as EVP and Chief Competition Officer, leading new EA Competitive Gaming Division (CGD). Moore will remain EA's COO through the end of the company's fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.
Palo Alto Networks Names New CIO and CISO
Palo Alto Networks appointed Naveen Zutshi as CIO. Prior to joining Palo Alto Networks, Zutshi served as SVP of technology with Gap; VP of technology and operations for Encover, a SaaS CRM company; and held IT leadership roles with Cisco and Walmart.
Palo Alto Networks appointed Lucas Moody as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He will report directly to the CFO and lead efforts to protect Palo Alto Networks information and technology assets while partnering with product management to contribute to continued product innovations. Most recently, served as director of information security operations and engineering at Intuit.
Check Point Software’s New CMO Comes from NetApp
Check Point Software Technologies has appointed Julie Parrish as CMO. In this role, Parrish will lead the company's global marketing team, overseeing strategic initiatives to drive awareness and demand for Check Point's expanding portfolio of security solutions. Prior to joining Check Point Parrish was the CMO at NetApp, where she had also served as SVP of worldwide channel sales.
Citrix Systems Elects Accomplished Business Leaders with Deep Experience Managing Global Enterprises as Directors
Citrix Systems elected Peter Sacripanti and Graham Smith, 55, to its board of directors. Sacripanti is co-chair and partner at the international law firm McDermott Will & Emery. Smith has served as a director of Splunk since 2011 and was previously the EVP and CFO for Salesforce. Prior to Salesforce, he served as CFO at Advent Software.
NetApp Acquires SolidFire; CEO Joins NetApp Team
NetApp has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire SolidFire for $870 million in cash. SolidFire CEO, Dave Wright, will lead the SolidFire product line within NetApp's product operations.
Carlyle Senior Partner Retires From SS&C Technologies Board; While Seasoned CFO and Entrepreneur Joins the Board
Allan M. Holt, 63, retired as director of SS&C Technologies, the cloud-based provider of financial services technology. Holt is a senior Partner and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group and Co‑Head of Carlyle's U.S. Buyout group, the firm's largest investment fund.
SS&C elected Smita Conjeevaram, 54, as a director. Conjeevaram is an industry veteran and entrepreneur with decades of experience leading the financial operations for global financial services companies. A CPA with ten years of experience in the Big 4, she is a well qualified financial expert with significant regulatory and international tax expertise. In her most recent operational role, she served as CFO of the credit hedge funds of Fortress Investment Group.
Open Text Appoints New President; KPMG Canada Partner Joins Open Text as Chief Accounting Officer
Open Text Corporation appointed Stephen Murphy, 45, to President role. Mark J. Barrenechea will continue to serve as OpenText's CEO and will also assume the role of CTO. As President of OpenText, Murphy will have responsibility for all customer facing activity and will report to Barrenechea.
Murphy most recently served as SVP and General Manager at Oracle Corporation, where he was responsible for driving revenue and expanding margin for its North American Services. Prior to his role at Oracle, he held executive leadership positions at Sun Microsystems, Accenture and Procter & Gamble.
Open Text also appointed Aditya Maheshwari, 41, as its SVP and Chief Accounting Officer. Maheshwari, prior to joining the Company, was a partner at KPMG (Canada), from 2013 to 2015, and prior thereto he held various other positions at KPMG-affiliated entities in Toronto, London and Mumbai.
Intel’s CTO for Telecommunications Strategy Joins Fortinet as Chief Security Strategist
Secure cyber security solutions firm Fortinet appointed Tyson Macaulay as chief security strategist and VP of consulting services. In this newly created role, Macaulay will be a trusted advisor to C-Level enterprise customers, helping them take a holistic approach to managing their data security environments in a threat landscape that is changing and evolving. Macaulay joins Fortinet from Intel Security, where he served as the CTO for Telecommunications Strategy.
Retired Citrix CEO Mark Templeton Joins Keysight Technologies’ Board
Test and measurement software firm Keysight Technologies appointed Mark Templeton, 62, to its board of directors. Templeton served from June 2001 until his recent retirement in October 2015 as the president and CEO of Citrix Systems. Prior to assuming those positions, he served in various executive posts at Citrix.
CSC Goes Through Major Board Shuffle
CSC appointed Mike Lawrie, 61, CSC president and CEO, as chairman of the company's Board of Directors, along with the appointments of Dr. Mukesh Aghi, 58, and Herman E. Bulls, 59, as directors. Chairman Rodney F. Chase, 72, who has served as a director since 2001, and Schussel Family Professor at the MIT Sloan School Erik Brynjolfsson, 53, who became a director of CSC in 2010, have retired from the company's Board.
Additional board actions included the appointment of Bruce Churchill in the role of Lead Independent Director, reflecting the company's commitment to strong corporate governance. Nancy Killefer and Sean O'Keefe resigned as directors of CSC. Additionally, Lawrence B. Prior III resigned his position of EVP and General Manager, North American Public Sector with the company.
Aghi is president of the U.S.-India Business Council and has more than 27 years of experience across diverse industries. He served as chairman and CEO of Steria India.
Bulls is vice chairman, Americas of JLL. He founded and led the firm's Public Institutions specialty as chairman and CEO and currently serves as International Director of JLL Global Markets.
SAS Canada Gets New President
SAS appointed Cameron Dow as President of SAS Canada, responsible for all aspects of business operations. Dow has had a successful career with SAS, which began at SAS Canada in 2000. Prior to his current role, Dow served as VP of Marketing for SAS in Canada and Latin America, responsible for all aspects of the go-to-market strategy.
Pitney Bowes Appoints Former IBM Exec as New Software Solutions Leader
Pitney Bowes announced that Bob Guidotti joined the company as EVP and President Software Solutions. Most recently, he was General Manager, Software Sales at IBM. He held a series of executive positions including head of IBM software sales in North America, where he managed and directed a team of more than 7,000 people and more than $8 Billion of revenue in annual sales and services.
UK Based Enterprise Infrastructure Software Company to Transition Back to the Separate Chair/CEO Roles
Micro Focus International plc announced the intention to transition back to the separate roles of Chairman and CEO over the following 12 to 24 months. Kevin Loosemore will continue as Executive Chairman until at least April 2018 with responsibility for the delivery of strategy; the benefits to shareholders of the TAG acquisition; M&A activities and investor relations. He will also ensure an orderly transition of all executive responsibilities by that date.
Stephen Murdoch and Nils Brauckmann will join the Board effective February 1, 2016 as CEO of the company and CEO of SUSE respectively. Both will report to the Executive Chairman.
Stephen Murdoch rejoins the Board having been a Director from April 2014 to November 2014. Stephen Murdoch joined the Company in November 2012 and is currently COO of the company.
Nils Brauckmann has been President and General Manager of SUSE since May 2011. Prior to this, Brauckmann gained more than 20 years of management and leadership experience in the IT industry serving in cross-functional and international management positions in companies such as WRQ (acquired by TAG in 2004), Novell and Siemens Nixdorf, where he started his technology career.
The Company also announced that Steve Schuckenbrock will join the Board as an independent non-executive director on 1 February 2016. Schuckenbrock is Chief Executive at CROSSMARK, a leading sales and marketing services company. After more than 30 years of leadership experience in global companies such as Dell, EDS, PepsiCo, Frito-Lay and IBM, his expertise spans sales, marketing and technology.
David Golob and Prescott Ashe, who have been representing Wizard on the Board since the TAG acquisition, have both agreed to step down from the Board on 1 February 2016 to enable the Board to have an appropriate balance of independent and non-independent directors.
Teradata President Leaves as Part of Management Shake-Up
As part of its previously announced business transformation and cost reduction process, Teradata Corporation is exiting its Marketing Applications business so that Teradata can focus exclusively on its core Data and Analytics business. Accordingly, in light of its new single business model, the Company’s Board decided to dissolve the co-president management structure. As a result, the Board eliminated the Co-President position held by Hermann Wimmer and he is no longer an executive officer as of that date. In addition, Robert Fair has been named the Company’s COO and Michael Koehler has been named President in addition to his current position as CEO of the Company.

New Zealand Based Accounting Software & Online Bookkeeping Company Xero Makes Management Changes
Accounting software & online bookkeeping company Xero appointed Anna Curzon as managing director after Victoria Crone stepped down to pursue the Auckland mayoralty. Curzon is the former Spark general manager of digital first and will be a key member of Xero's global sales leadership team, based in the company's Auckland office.
Xero also appointed Doug LaBahn as Xero's VP of partner and product marketing. LaBahn will be based in Xero's San Francisco office, and has experience in leading global companies including Dun & Bradstreet, Experian and CircleBack and most recently Sage.
Zendesk Looking or New CFO
SaaS customer service platform provider Zendesk announced that SVP and CFO Alan Black has informed the company and board of directors of his plans to depart the company during 2016. Black, who joined Zendesk in 2011, will continue in his role as CFO until a replacement is identified and plans to be active in the search and transition. The company intends to immediately initiate a search to identify and recruit a new CFO.
Benefitfocus CFO to Retire
Cloud-based benefits software solutions company Benefitfocus announced that Milt Alpern, its CFO, will retire, remaining with the company as a consultant until April 2017. The company is conducting a nationwide search to fill the CFO position.
Monotype Imaging Appoints COO as New CEO
Monotype Imaging, provider of type and technology for applications and consumer devices, has appointed Scott Landers, 45, currently COO, as president and CEO. Landers will succeed current president and CEO, Doug Shaw, 60, as part of a planned transition process. Shaw stated his intention to retire at the end of this year. He will remain a member of Monotype's board of directors, and work for the company in a part-time advisory role through the first quarter of 2016.
Landers has served as COO for Monotype, and previously served as CFO until the appointment of Monotype's new CFO, Joseph Hill. Prior to joining Monotype, Landers was VP of global finance at Pitney Bowes Software.
Carbonite Appoints Board Member with Wealth of Financial Expertise and a Strong Technology Background
Scott Daniels was appointed to serve as a director on the Board of Carbonite. Pravin Vazirani, 44, concurrently with the appointment of Daniels, resigned as a director of the Company. Vazirani, Managing Director at Menlo Ventures, is leaving the Board to continue his focus on very early stage private investments.
Daniels has spent his entire career investing in and working with public technology companies. He was a senior analyst at Shannon River Partners. Prior to Shannon River, he was a partner at S Squared Technology.
Paul Mellinger has been appointed as SVP of the company's EVault business. Since January 2013, Mellinger has served as the VP of Software Sales at IBM.
Absolute Software Appoints Symantec Exec as Chief Commercial Officer
Technology industry veteran Sean Maxwell will join Absolute Software as Chief Commercial Officer. Most recently Maxwell was VP, Global Sales Strategy & Field Enablement at Symantec. Prior to Symantec, Maxwell held sales leadership roles with Virtual Instruments and EMC.
With this announcement, Thomas Kenny, EVP and General Manager, Worldwide Sales, will be leaving Absolute.
Blackboard Gets New CEO
Leading education technology company Blackboard named William “Bill” L. Ballhaus, PhD, 47, as Chairman, President and CEO. He succeeds Jay Bhatt, 46, who has led Blackboard since 2012. Bhatt will serve as a special advisor to the chairman and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition.
Dr. Ballhaus joins Blackboard from SRA International, where he was CEO.
The Company also announced that Brian Napack, a Blackboard director since 2012 and a Senior Advisor at Providence Equity Partners has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the Board.
Veracode Appoints Research VP and Gartner Fellow as Chief Innovation Officer
Cloud-based application security company Veracode Named Joseph Feiman as Chief Innovation Officer. Before joining Veracode, Feiman was a research VP and Gartner Fellow for seven years, focusing on application and data security within the enterprise security research team.
