Across Industries Large Boards Push for Women Directors Featured

Colgate Named former eBay Marketplaces President to Board

Colgate named Lorrie Norrington, 55, Operating Partner, Lead Edge Capital, to its board. Prior to joining Lead Edge, she served as President of Global eBay Marketplaces, COO of eBay Marketplaces and President of eBay International, in Europe and Asia. Prior to joining eBay, she held senior positions at Intuit and held a number of global roles at General Electric over an almost 20-year period.

Hewlett-Packard Announces Boards of Directors Following Split

Hewlett-Packard introduced the expected members of the boards for both Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. The new board for each company will go into effect upon completion of the separation.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise: The board will be chaired by Pat Russo, who joined the HP board in 2011 and currently serves as its lead independent director. Russo previously served as CEO of Alcatel-Lucent, as well as chairman, president and CEO of Lucent Technologies.

In addition to Russo, the Hewlett Packard Enterprise board is expected to include female members:

  • Pamela Carter, former President, Cummins Distribution
  • Ann M. Livermore, former EVP, HP Enterprise Business
  • Meg Whitman, Chairman, President and CEO, HP

Livermore, Russo and Whitman all currently serve as members of the board of directors of HP.

HP Inc: Meg Whitman will chair the board of HP Inc. Whitman has served as president and CEO of HP since 2011, in addition to serving as director and then Chairman since July 2014.

In addition to Whitman, the HP Inc. board is expected to include:

  • Stacy Brown-Philpot, COO, TaskRabbit
  • Stephanie A. Burns, former Chairman and CEO, Dow Corning Corporation
  • Mary Anne Citrino, Senior Advisor, Blackstone
  • Stacey Mobley, former SVP, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, DuPont

Whitman currently serves on the board of directors of HP.   

United Airlines’ CIO Joins Board of Energy Generator and Distributor

Energy generator and distributor Exelon elected Linda P. Jojo, 50, as a director. Jojo is EVP and CIO for United Airlines, where she is responsible for technology strategy and IT operations. Prior to United Airlines, Jojo served as CIO at Toronto-based Rogers Communications, one of Canada’s leading cable and telecommunications companies. Earlier, she was SVP and CIO of Energy Future Holdings; CIO of Flowserve and held a series of leadership positions at General Electric including serving as CIO of GE Silicones.

Shire Appoints Former D&B CEO to Board of Directors

Shire plc appointed Sara Mathew, 60, to its Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director. Mathew previously served as Chairman, President and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet, retiring in December 2013. Before joining D&B, Mathew spent 18 years at P&G in a variety of global senior finance and management positions, including VP, Finance, Australia, Asia and India.

Cardinal Health Elects Government Consultant and Former Department of the Treasury Exec as Director

Cardinal Health elected Nancy Killefer, 61, as an independent director. Killefer most recently served as senior partner of McKinsey until her retirement in 2013. She also served in the United States Department of the Treasury as the assistant secretary for Management, CFO and COO. Killefer served as the founder and managing partner of McKinsey's Public Sector practice and on the Shareholders Committee, the firm's governing board, where she chaired the People Committee.

Delphi Automotive Appoints Ixia CEO and For HP Networking Leader as Board Member

Delphi Automotive named Bethany J. Mayer, 53, to its board of directors. Mayer is the president and CEO of Ixia, a provider of comprehensive network solutions. Prior to joining Ixia in 2014, Mayer held several key executive roles at Hewlett-Packard, most recently serving as HP’s SVP and general manager of its Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) business and leading the company’s NFV initiative. Mayer has extensive experience working in the technical industry, holding positions at companies such as Cisco Systems, Apple Computer and Lockheed Martin.

Former Boeing Exec Joins Fortune 500 Steel Producer’s Board

Nucor Corporation elected Laurette T. Koellner, 60, as a director. Koellner most recently served as Executive Chairman of International Lease Finance Corporation, a subsidiary of AIG until its sale to AerCap Holdings N.V. in 2014. She retired as President of Boeing International, a division of The Boeing Company, in 2008. Koellner joined Boeing in 1997 and held a variety of financial and business leadership positions during her more than 11-year tenure with the company, including serving as President of Connexion by Boeing.

Genuine Parts Appoints DF Management’s CEO as Director

Genuine Parts Company elected Elizabeth W. "Betsy" Camp, as a new independent Director of the Company. Camp is President and CEO of DF Management, a private investment and commercial real estate management company, a position she has held since 2000. Previously, Camp served in various capacities, including President and CEO of Camp Oil Company for 16 years, tax accountant with a major accounting firm and attorney in law firms in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. Camp also serves on the board of Synovus Financial Corporation.

Red Hat’s New Director is Deutsche Bank CIO

Red Hat named Kim Hammonds, 47, global CIO and global co-head of Group Technology and Operations at Deutsche Bank, to the company’s Board of Directors. Hammonds joined Deutsche Bank in late 2013 from Boeing, where she served as CIO. Earlier, she led IT systems development for manufacturing operations in the Americas at Dell. With more than 25 years’ experience, starting at the Ford Motor, Hammonds' career has spanned both technology and operations for some of the world's largest companies in the most challenging industries.

Former eBay and PayPal Exec Joins Board of Clothing and Accessories Fossil Group

Fossil Group named Mauria Finley to its Board of Directors. Finley is the founder of Citrus Lane, a leading social commerce platform for parents and was acquired by in July 2014, and earlier served as CEO. Finley previously served as Senior Director, Buyer Product and E-commerce Categories for eBay; Senior Director, New Ventures and Funding Mix for PayPal; and Director of Product Management for mobile startup Good Technology.

Cable One Elects Ernst & Young Exec to Board

Cable service provider Cable One elected Deborah J. Kissire to serve as a director of the Company. Kissire serves as Vice Chair, East Central Managing Partner of Ernst & Young. She serves as a Director at Junior Achievement and Greater Washington Board of Trade.

Former Continental Airlines Exec Joins as Board Member of Virgin America

Virgin America named Jennifer Vogel, 53, to its Board of Directors. Vogel was most recently SVP, General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer of Continental Airlines in Houston.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
