McKesson Names New CIO, CTO from Emerson

McKesson appointed Kathy McElligott as to EVP, CIO and CTO. McElligott comes to McKesson from Emerson where she served as CIO since 2010 and managed Emerson’s IT strategy and information security. McElligott joined Emerson in 2000 as VP, IT for Emerson Power Transmission. In 2003, she was promoted to VP, IT for Emerson Industrial Automation. Prior to joining Emerson, McElligott spent 22 years with General Electric, holding multiple information systems leadership roles, ultimately becoming CIO of supply chain for GE Aircraft Engines.

McElligott succeeds Randy Spratt, who announced his planned retirement earlier this year. Spratt is retiring after a distinguished 29-year career with McKesson.

Athenahealth’s Chief Product Officer Leaves; Company Appoints Interim Leader

Athenahealth appointed Kyle Armbrester, currently athenahealth's VP of BD and creator of the company's More Disruption Please (MDP) innovation and partnership program, to the position of acting chief product officer (CPO).

Jeremy Delinsky will step down as CPO after serving in the position for five months and with the company for more than ten years. Delinsky will join Boston-based online retailer Wayfair as the company's CTO.

SickKids Appoints CIO with Clinical Background in Pediatrics and Neonatology

The Hospital for Sick Children appoints Dr. Sarah Muttitt, expert in telehealth initiatives, to the position of CIO and VP of the Information Management and Technology. Having trained at SickKids and served as a Senior Fellow in Neonatology in the late 1980s, Muttitt possesses more than 25 years of experience in the health-care industry with a clinical background in pediatrics and neonatology. She went on to become a Staff Neonatologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta from 1989 – 1993. She has successfully led large-scale health-care transformation and information technology initiatives both in Canada and in the Asia region.

Allscripts Regional VP Joins Health Analytics Firm to Lead Strategic Partnerships

Health analytics firm Apervita appointed Gavin Yoder, 53, as VP of strategic partnerships. Before joining the company, Yoder worked as regional VP of channel sales at Allscripts. He also served as market segment VP of sales for Net Health, a Pittsburgh-based vendor of software for outpatient specialty providers. 

DynoSense Adds Accomplished Global Executives to Board

Digital health innovator DynoSense appointed Dr. Pantas Sutardja and Mr. Paul Chau to its board of directors. Dr. Sutardja is an accomplished technologist and entrepreneur. He is co-founder of Marvell Semiconductor, where he held the positions of board director and CTO for 19 years.

Paul Chau is a seasoned executive with more than 18 years of private equity, consulting and technical experience. He is currently managing director of international venture capital franchise WI Harper. Prior to that, Chau served as VP at Walden International, where he handled investments and the management of existing portfolio companies.

Healthline Appoints Engineering Leader with Health PaaS Experience

Healthline, a provider of intelligent health information and technology solutions, named Paul Clip as SVP of Engineering for the company’s Health IT (HIT) Group. Most recently, Clip was VP of engineering for platform services at RelayHealth, which was acquired by McKesson in 2006. Prior to that, Clip held engineering leadership roles at @stake, a leading application and infrastructure security consulting firm that was acquired by Symantec in 2004, and Sapient, a Fortune 500 consulting firm specializing in the rapid development of mission critical applications.

HCIT Company Stratice Healthcare Appoints Compliance Chief from within HME/DME Marketplace

Stratice Healthcare, a leading healthcare IT company and developer of eDMEplus™, named Carmen Davies as EVP and Chief Compliance Officer. Davies most recently served as Regional VP of Respiratory Operations at Walgreens Infusion and Respiratory Services. Carmen’s prior executive roles include Director of Reimbursement/Operations with Walgreens and District Manager Operations and Corporate Director of Reimbursement with Air Products Healthcare.

TeleHealth Services Appoints BD Leader to Target New Clients and Customer Channels

TeleHealth Services, a provider of integrated communication and interactive patient engagement solutions for the healthcare market, has named Gary Kolbeck to the position of VP of Business Development. Kolbeck was most recently employed as President of SONIFI Health, where he was responsible for taking their interactive patient engagement division from a start-up to a profitable business unit with a national presence in five years. Gary has extensive experience in consumer health information solutions, healthcare reform, patient engagement, and hospital software integrations.

Quality Systems Gets CareFusion Exec as New President & CEO

Quality Systems announced that President and CEO Steven T. Plochocki, 63, retired. Plochocki has served in this leadership role since 2008, and has been affiliated with Quality Systems since 2004 when he was elected a member of its board of directors.

Plochocki will be succeeded by Rusty Frantz, 48. Most recently, Frantz was SVP and GM, global dispensing division at CareFusion, a San Diego-based global medical technology corporation serving the healthcare industry. He spent eight years at CareFusion serving in varying roles with increasing responsibility. Frantz also was CTO and co-founder of OutPurchase, a provider of cloud-based procurement solutions and services.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
