Informatica Names CIO to Boost up Cloud Strategy

Ginna Raahauge joined Informatica, the enterprise data integration and management software company powering analytics for big data and cloud, as SVP and CIO. She is charged with boosting the security of the company’s data and cloud computing platforms and strengthening its cloud strategy. She was most recently CIO of Riverbed Technology. Prior to that, she led the customer value chain management IT organization at Cisco.

She replaces Eric Johnson, who was hired away by DocuSign. Former Informatica CIO Tony Young, most recently the company’s VP for subscription and cloud sales, took a CIO post at video camera maker GoPro earlier this year.

Open Text Restructures; Promotes Cloud Services Exec

George Schulze has been appointed SVP, Information Exchange (iX) Sales. Schulze will lead the OpenText Information Exchange business and core Cloud services. One of the most experienced executives in the Cloud business, Schulze came to OpenText through its January 2014 acquisition of GXS. He joined GXS in 2005 as VP of Sales for the Americas region.

Cvent CFO to Leave

SaaS based event management platform Cvent announced that its CFO Peter L. Childs, 51, will leave the company this year. Prior to joining Cvent in 2012 as CFO, he was the chief account officer of Towers Watson, serving at the company for thirteen years. Prior to joining Towers Watson, he was the VP of finance and treasurer at HCR Manor Care.

Kinaxis Creates Chief Knowledge Officer Role

Kinaxis, provider of RapidResponse, delivering cloud-based SCM and S&OP applications, named industry veteran Sarah Sedgman to the newly-created position of Chief Knowledge Officer. Sedgman comes to Kinaxis with significant experience in the IT knowledge and learning community, having previously held many global executive positions, including as the Director of Cognos Learning Services, IBM's Analytics Education Executive, and most recently as the SVP of PTC University.

Unit4 Appoints Microsoft’s SMB Cloud and On-Premise Business Exec as CTO 

Unit4, a fast growing leader in enterprise applications for service organizations, named Erik Tiden, Ph.D, as CTO. He joins Unit4 from Microsoft where he was GM responsible for the global Microsoft Dynamics’ cloud and on-premise business for small and medium-sized businesses. Prior to that he served as VP Engineering, Business Solutions at Hewlett Packard and also held several executive roles at SAP.

Cloudera Taps Google VP as Engineering Head

Cloud analytics software company Cloudera named Daniel Sturman as its VP of engineering. Sturman previously spent eight years at Google, where as VP of engineering he was in charge of keeping its computing infrastructure for services like Google Compute Engine and Google App Engine running smoothly.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
