Time Warner Gets New CIO from Time, Inc.
Time Warner named Mitchell A. Klaif as SVP and CIO. Klaif joins Time Warner after 17 years at Time Inc., including seven years as the company’s CIO and CTO. Before joining Time Inc. in 1997, Klaif was President and CEO of a privately held start-up venture, VIAM Communications Group. Prior to this, he spent 18 years at Dow Jones working in a variety of operations and technical positions including Deputy Director of the International Group of Information Services, GM of the Far Eastern Economic Review, and Director of International Operations and Administration.
Target Appoints New CIO Mike McNamara from Tesco
Target named Tesco veteran Mike McNamara to the role of EVP and CIO. McNamara replaces Bob DeRodes, who is retiring after playing a pivotal role in guiding the chain’s information security efforts. DeRodes, is a 40-year IT veteran who joined Target last spring with a focus on enhancing data security and technology infrastructure. DeRodes will serve for a short time in a senior advisory role to Target.
McNamara will join Target from Tesco PLC, where he worked for more than 15 years joining in 1998. In 2011, McNamara was named the global supermarket chain’s CIO, with responsibility for all IT systems. Before becoming CIO, he served as Tesco’s Operations Development Director, IT Director and CTO of tesco.com. McNamara already has experience of the US retail scene through Tesco's ill-fated Fresh & Easy venture which ultimately failed. Before Tesco, he was a senior manager at Accenture for seven years.
Infosys Appoints First CIO in Management Rejig
Infosys will realign its organizational structure to enhance the company’s agility in the market and sharpen its competitive differentiation across service lines. SVP VG Dheeshjith will become the company's first CIO, heading its internal infrastructure. Dheeshjith serves as the Head of Growth Market Unit. He served as Global Head of Life Sciences and Head of APAC Region & Europe Middle East & Africa, Retail CPG, Logistics & Life Sciences and SVP of Growth Market Unit at Infosys, earlier. He joined Infosys in 1987 and has since worked in various roles within the organization.

Federal Realty Investment Trust, an equity REIT, appointed Porter Bellew to VP and CIO. Prior to joining Federal, Bellew served as CIO for commercial real estate owner, operator and developer, Washington REIT. Dell Enterprise CTO Leaves
Sam Greenblatt, the CTO of the Enterprise division at computing giant Dell, has left the company and joined the advisory board of Nexenta Systems, a storage startup. Greenblatt also recently joined Moor Insights and Strategy, the Austin-based boutique research firm headed up by Patrick Moorhead, the former head of marketing at the chipmaker AMD, as its technologist in residence. He joined Dell from Hewlett-Packard in 2012 where he had been CTO of its LaserJet printing business, and was later CTO of its WebOS operation.
Goodyear Gets Its Third Female CIO
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. named Sherry Neubert as its new VP and CIO. Neubert succeeds James McKinnon who is retiring after 40 years with the company. McKinnon has been VP and CIO since 2010.
Neubert joined Goodyear in 2002, managing a team responsible for developing business intelligence applications. She’s held various leadership roles in IT over the last decade, including leading IT for Goodyear’s R&D organization. Before joining Goodyear, she worked in management and IT consulting.
Sensata Exec Joins Axalta Coating Systems as CIO
Aaron Weis has joined Axalta Coating Systems, a leading provider of liquid and powder coatings, as VP and CIO. Weis joins Axalta from Sensata Technologieswhere he served as VP & General Manager of the company’s Magnetic Speed and Position business. Weis had also been Sensata’s first CIO. He was also VP, Business Applications and Enabling Technologies at Tyco International in Princeton, NJ. Windstream Appoints CIO from Allied Wireless Communications
Voice and data network communications company Windstream appoints Lewis Langston as CIO. Langston succeeds Cindy Nash who is leaving the company to pursue other career interests. Langston served as CIO at Allied Wireless Communications Corporation from 2009 to 2013. The company was acquired by AT&T in September 2013. He most recently was an executive telecommunications and technology consultant. Prior to joining Allied Wireless, Langston was EVP of process development and support at Alltel Corp. from 2003 to 2009.

First Financial Bankshares elected Thomas S. (Stan) Limerick to the position of EVP and CIO. His career highlights include having served as chief technology architect and manager at IBM, global enterprise and strategic process architect at General Motors and sales engineering manager at Jack Henry and Associates. Limerick began his technology career in 1979 at Texas Instruments.
MasterCard Exec Joins LifeLock to Lead Product and Technology
Identity theft protection services company LifeLock named Schwark Satyavolu to the new position of EVP, product and technology. Satyavolu co-founded Truaxis, a credit card statement and rewards platform, and served as CEO until the company was acquired by MasterCard where he became global head of rewards & offers. Previously, Satyavolu was an entrepreneur-in-residence with Bessemer Venture Partners, co-founded and developed the technology for Yodlee and served in a variety of functions at Yodlee over eight years, including CTO.
Insurance Company Appoints IT Audit Director as CIO
Universal Insurance Holdings named Kimberly Cooper as CIO. Cooper, who joined Universal in 2007, most recently served as IT Audit Director within the Internal Audit Department. CorVel’s CIO to Retire; Company Announces Successor
Donald McFarlane intends to retire from his position as CIO of workers' compensation solutions company CorVel Corporation. McFarlane has been with the Company for 21 years, starting in 1994.

Sophos named Joe Levy as CTO. Prior to Sophos, Levy was CTO for Blue Coat Systems following the company's May 2013 acquisition of security analytics pioneer Solera Networks, where he had served as CTO since 2008. Prior to Solera, Levy was CTO of SonicWALL (acquired by Dell), where he led research and development teams. Earlier in his career, Levy spent six years with the security-focused value added reseller OneNet, where he led product and service design and development, including managed services.

Richard Holada has joined Truven Health Analytics as Chief Data and Technology Officer. In this newly created role, Holada will drive the alignment between the company’s core analytic and data capabilities. Holada comes to Truven Health from IBM, where he was vice present of IBM’s Watson Legal Solutions. Holada joined IBM with the acquisition of SPSS where he served as SVP of technology and CTO. HBO CTO and Tech SVPs Leave Over Outsourcing of Streaming Service Technology
HBO CTOOtto Berkes is exiting after the cable network decided to enlist Major League Baseball Advanced Media to build its over-the-top (OTT) streaming service instead of developing it in-house. Two SVPs on the technology team, Mark Thomas and Drew Angeloff, are also leaving.
Berkes, one of the original creators of Microsoft’s Xbox, joined HBO in 2011 as SVP of digital products, leading development of HBO Go and the cabler’s other consumer technologies. In 2012, he was promoted to CTO, replacing longtime technology Chief Bob Zitter.
UNICEF Tech Chief Quits
The newly appointed CIO of UNICEF Paul van Essche has abruptly resigned from the job he officially took up at the beginning of the year. His departure came days after Fox News raised questions about the selection process that had gotten him the post.
The quick exit is Van Essche’s second departure from a top U.N. info-tech post. In 2011, he ended a three-year term as project director of a still unfinished computerized U.N. financial management system known as Umoja (Swahili for Unity), amid a growing chorus of criticism about the project’s extensive, and expensive, difficulties and delays in execution. A senior UNICEF colleague has temporarily assumed the interim Director role until the position is filled.
ZoomInfo Promotes System Architect as New CTO
Business information provider ZoomInfo appointed Leo Laferriere as its new CTO. Laferriere served as ZoomInfo's system architect for seven years prior to his promotion and will continue to be involved in every major system the company builds, from all of the data processing to product delivery systems. Laferriere holds 30 years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to ZoomInfo he worked at several companies including Netegrity, where he was the lead architect for SiteMinder Federation Services.
NTT Group Security Company Solutionary Appoints CIO
Solutionary, an NTT Group security company appointed Mark Weiss as new CIO. Weiss brings with him more than 35 years of IT leadership experience. Prior to joining Solutionary, Weiss held the position of executive director, enterprise technical services, at The Nebraska Medical Center. Prior to that, he worked at the Metropolitan Utilities District as the SVP and CIO. Additional positions he has held include director of IT at Xpherix; director of systems development at Sigma Networks.; and applications development. Federated Wireless Names Wireless Industry Veteran as CTO
Federated Wireless, which develops technologies to maximize the utilization of spectrum resources, named Kurt Schaubach, former VP and CTO at National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), as CTO. Prior to NRTC, Schaubach led the acquisition of spectrum, and managed the spectrum portfolio, at NextWave Wireless. He worked closely with counsel at the U.S. Federal Communications Commission on regulatory compliance matters and led an industry-wide coalition to bring new technical rules and regulatory reform to the 2.3 GHz WCS band.
Seasoned Technology and Digital Executive Joins News America Marketing as CTO
News America Marketing, the premier publisher of coupons in the U.S. and Canada and a subsidiary of global publisher News Corp, named Emmanuel Miran as CTO. He spent a majority of the past 17 years at L'Oreal, starting in their U.S. division in 1997 on the technology side of the business. He took on a series of expanded roles that included e-commerce and digital marketing before being named the Global Executive Director of IT for BioMerieux in 2012. He returned to L'Oreal in 2013, as the Global Head of Digital Commerce Technology for the L'Oreal Group.
