IBM Watson Veteran to Drive Healthcare Predictive Analytics Initiatives at Truven

Richard Holada has joined Truven Health Analytics as Chief Data and Technology Officer. In this newly created role, Holada will drive the alignment between the company’s core analytic and data capabilities. Holada comes to Truven Health from IBM, where he was vice present of IBM’s Watson Legal Solutions. Holada joined IBM with the acquisition of SPSS where he served as SVP of technology and CTO. He also held senior technology and customer relationship positions with SPSS, Oracle, and PeopleSoft.

NantHealth Names President from Streamline Health Solutions

Cloud-based healthcare IT company NantHealth named Robert (Bob) E. Watson as its new President. Watson was most recently President, CEO, an Director of Streamline Health Solutions; he also served at DocuSys, Concuity/Trintech, and IQHealth, in addition to serving on the boards of Streamline, Satori Labs, and Interpoint Partners.

Dr. Murray Reicher, M.D., F.A.C.R, has been named CEO of DR Systems, where he succeeds Rick Porritt, who has retired after 20 years with the company. Dr. Reicher co-founded DR Systems in 1992. Dr. Reicher is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist and Fellow of the American College of Radiology. He is known for his numerous scientific publications, inventions, and presentations in the fields of neuroradiology, musculoskeletal MRI, and health information technologies. He is also the co-founder/Chairman of Health Companion, co-founder/board member of Health Beacons, and councilor for the California Radiological Society.

ONC Appoints Chief Medical Officer and Creates Chief Health Information Officer Role

Thomas Mason, CMIO of the ambulatory and community health network at the Cook County Health and Hospitals System in Chicago, has been named CMO of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. Mason has worked in primary care and preventive medicine for 14 years. He also has experience working with electronic medical record systems and in public health and population medicine.

Michael James McCoy, MD, will be joining the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT in the newly created position of Chief Health Information Officer. McCoy has been board certified obstetrician/gynecologist, practicing for more than 20 years, and has more than 10 years of experience in health information technology, with special interests in interoperability, user experience, and person-centered care. He has been involved with standards development for well over a decade, including Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise, or IHE, Patient Care Coordination domain, and the IHE International Board of Directors.

HealthPrize Technologies Adds Leading Healthcare Execs as Directors and Appoints Five Thought Leaders to form New Board of Advisors

HealthPrize Technologies, a medication adherence and digital patient-engagement company, added two new members Dieter Weinand and Dawn Owens to its Board of Directors.

As President and CEO of Bayer Pharma AG, Dieter Weinand serves as a member of Bayer HealthCare's Executive Committee and is Head of its Pharmaceuticals Division. Prior to joining Bayer in 2014, Weinand served as President of Global Commercialization & Portfolio Management for Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization.

Dawn Owens served as CEO of OptumHealth, a UnitedHealth Group company. Dawn joined UnitedHealth Group in 1997 and held numerous leadership positions, including Chief Marketing Officer of Ingenix (now OptumInsight), and president of Uniprise Strategic Solutions (now a part of UnitedHealthcare). She began her healthcare career at Aetna. Owens is a Partner with Triple Tree, the country's largest merchant bank and strategic advisory firm dedicated to healthcare

Katherine Milkman, PhD, is the James G. Campbell, Jr. Assistant Professor at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research relies heavily on "big data" to document various ways in which individuals systematically deviate from making optimal choices. She is also an Associate Editor for the Behavioral Economics Department at the journal Management Science.

Walid Gellad, MD, MPH, is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management in the Graduate School of Public Health.

Gabe Zichermann is Chair of GSummit, where top gamification experts across industries gather to share knowledge and insights about customer and employee engagement and loyalty. He is also Founder and Editor of Gamification.Co and EQ magazine.

James Kalustian is the recent Past Chairman of the Ambassadors Group, a socially conscious student education travel company. He was the COO of RxAnte (acquired by Millenium Labs), SVP and Cofounder of HealthCare Resources Information Network (HRInet), VP/GM Emerging Industries Business Unit, and VP, Innovation Management and Performance Assurance at Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO).

Michael Lewis, CFA, is currently a management consultant providing strategic and financial advice to healthcare companies and healthcare investment firms. He is the former Head of Strategy and Business Development at Prodigy Health, a $600M Aetna subsidiary, and was a member of Aetna's Corporate Development and Strategy group.

Deloitte Exec Joins Recondo Technology as Chief Growth Officer

Ralph Keiser has joined Recondo Technology, the provider of cloud-based revenue cycle connectivity and applications, as its new Chief Growth Officer. His most recent role was Deloitte Consulting Director and SVP of Sales and Marketing for its ConvergeHEALTH Innovation portfolio company. Prior to Deloitte, he was SVP of Enterprise Performance Management at Eclipsys (now Allscripts), VP at Cerner, and founded two healthcare technology start-up companies of his own that developed clinical workflow, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence applications.

par8o Elects Nationally Recognized Healthcare Leader to Board of Directors

Healthcare IT Startup par8o added Jonathan “Jack” Lord, M.D. to its Board. Dr. Lord is a board-certified forensic pathologist and fellow of the College of American Pathologists. Recently, he served as the Chief Innovation Officer and COO of the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. Earlier he served as Chief Innovation Officer and SVP of Humana, COO of the American Hospital Association, and a senior executive at Anne Arundel Medical Center and SunHealth. He began his medical career in the U.S. Navy, serving for 11 years in a number of leadership roles in the Navy medical department.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
