Apple Director Won't Seek Re-Election; Company Hires HP Veteran and Burberry Exec to Leadership Team

J.Crew CEO Millard “Mickey” Drexler, 70, who has served on the Board since 1999, notified the Board of his intention to retire at the end of his current term. His role will end in March; no one has been named to fill the vacancy. In addition to his position on Apple’s board, Drexler has been the CEO of J.Crew since 2003. Prior to that, he was the CEO of Gap.

Apple has hired John Solomon, a 20-year HP veteran, to help it sell more products to businesses. When he left HP in December, Solomon’s title was GM of the global consumer printing unit. Earlier, Solomon was a SVP in HP's Personal Systems Group, and was also chosen to run that company’s printing and imaging operations in the Asia Pacific region. He joined HP in 1992.

Chester Chipperfield, the VP of Digital and Interactive Design at Burberry, will be joining Apple to work on special projects. The move comes following the hiring of former Burberry CEO, Angela Ahrendts, last year. Apple also recently hired former Burberry social media executive Musa Tariq. Chipperfield may play a key role at Apple's launch of its Apple Watch, which is expected to take place within a few months.

Cisco Cloud CTO Leaves for BMC

Cisco VP and CTO of cloud and virtualization group Phil Harris has joined BMC as SVP & CTO. Harris will replace Kia Behnia, who will not return from a sabbatical. Before his kost recent role at Cisco, he served as VP & CTO. Prior to that, he was Chief Strategy Officer and VP, Platform Engineering and Strategy at VCE, a virtual computing environment company. Prior to VCE he was at Cisco as Senior Director/CTO, World Wide Partner Organization and Corporate Consulting Engineer. Earlier in his career he served as Network Manager at Logica and Network Support Engineer at BACS.

LivePerson NA Sales Leader Joins 8x8 to Head Global Sales

Mobile communication and media devices manufacturer 8x8 named SaaS industry executive Puneet Arora as SVP of Global Sales. Arora was most recently VP, Head of North America Sales at LivePerson. Prior to that, he managed Cloud CRM Sales for North America West at Oracle, and was VP Corporate Sales at Earlier, Arora spent over 10 years in leading enterprise software companies like BlueRoads, Selectica and Trilogy where he led a successful career as an Enterprise Sales executive leading teams and opening new markets.

Comtech Appoints New CEO; While Former CEO Continue as Exec Chair

Comtech Telecommunications, the company that develops systems and services for advanced communications solutions, has named Dr. Stanton D. Sloane, 63, as CEO and President. Dr. Sloane served as President, CEO and director of Decision Sciences International, a privately-held advanced security and detection systems technology company. Previously, he served as President, CEO and director of SRA International, and was EVP of Lockheed Martin’s Integrated Systems & Solutions. He began his business career with GE Aerospace and progressed through engineering, program management, and BD assignments.

Dr. Sloane will succeed Fred Kornberg, 78, as CEO and President, who will continue to serve as Executive Chairman. Prior, Kornberg was the EVP of Comtech and the General Manager of the telecommunications transmission segment.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
