GE Names CTO and Research Exec for GE Software

GE appoints Harel Kodesh, 56, as VP, CTO, GE Software. Kodesh joined GE from Nurego, where he served as CEO and founder. He served as an EVP at VMWare and President of Cloud Infrastructure Business and CEO of Digital Echo at EMC. He served as the CEO of Decho, CEO of Mozy, Chief Product Officer of Amdocs, President and CEO of Wingcast Corporation, a joint venture between the Ford Motor Company and Qualcomm, VP of the Productivity Appliance Division and VP of the Information Appliances Division at Microsoft.

GE also named Colin Parris VP of software research for GE Software. Parris came from IBM where he was most recently VP of systems research for IBM Research. Parris also was general manager of IBM's Power Unix systems unit.

SAP’s CMO Named Company's First Chief Digital Officer; Telecom Exec Leaves for Blackberry

SAP named its CMO Jonathan Becher, 49, as the company's first Chief Digital Officer to lead the company's new digital business unit. Becher, a technology and marketing expert, joined SAP during the 2007 acquisition of Pilot Software, where he was president-CEO. Prior to leading Pilot Software, Becher was president-CEO of Accrue Software, a provider of web analytics, and president-CEO of NeoVista Software, a predictive analytics and data mining company.

Maggie Chan Jones has been named CMO. Jones, who will join SAP from Level 3 Communications, spent seven years at Microsoft. Prior to that, Jones led the efforts in establishing a global partner opportunity framework for cloud services and launched Microsoft's first cloud productivity offerings (BPOS) with their global partners.

Howard Stevens GM of the Global Telecom business unit at SAP leaves. He joins BlackBerry as SVP of Global Carrier Sales. Earlier he held sales leadership roles at Amdocs, Vallent, and Chernikeeff Networks, the first Cisco Systems reseller in the U.K.

Salesforce Appoints YouTube CEO to Board

Salesforce appoints Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, to its Board. Before heading YouTube, she was SVP for advertising and commerce of Google. Wojcicki joined Google in 1999 as the 16th employee and served as the search engine's first marketing executive. At Google, Wojcicki has overseen product management of AdSense, Google Book Search and Google Video as well as the syndication of the company's products.

SanDisk Names New Chief Legal Officer

SanDisk appointed Mark Brazeal as SVP and Chief Legal Officer. Brazeal spent the past 14 years at Broadcom where he most recently served as SVP and Senior Deputy General Counsel. Prior to Broadcom, Brazeal focused on IP licensing and litigation at law firms Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Yuasa and Hara, and Howrey & Simon.

Fiserv Appoints Investor and Finance Expert as Director

Alison Davis was appointed to the board of Fiserv. Since 2011, Davis has been a managing partner of Fifth Era, a firm that invests in and incubates early stage technology-enabled companies. Prior to Fifth Era, she was the managing partner of Belvedere Capital Partners, CFO of Barclays Global Investors, an institutional asset manager that is now part of BlackRock, a senior partner at A.T. Kearney, and a consultant at McKinsey. Davis is currently a director of RBS, Diamond Foods and Unisys.

UC San Diego Chancellor Emerita Resigns from Red Hat Board

Marye Anne Fox, Ph.D., has submitted her resignation from the Red Hat Board. Fox, Chancellor Emerita at the University of California, San Diego, has served as a Director of Red Hat since 2002. Fox has indicated that she intends to spend additional time with her family.

Splunk Appoints Former CA and BMC Exec to Lead Global Strategy and Initiatives for the IT Market

Splunk appointed Rick Fitz as VP of IT Markets. Previously, Fitz served as VP, product strategy and management at Markmonitor, a Thomson Reuters company. Prior to that, Fitz served as SVP, product management at CA Technologies; VP, product management at Network General and director, product management at BMC Software. He also held leadership positions at Peregrine Systems and Remedy Corporation.

Blackbaud Elects CheckFree Founder as Newest Board Member

Blackbaud elects Peter (Pete) Kight, founder, and former chairman and CEO of CheckFree, to its Board of Directors. After founding CheckFree in 1981, Kight served as CEO until its merger with Fiserv in 2007. Kight is also a member of the Board at Huntington Bancshares.

Progress Appoints Leaders from Newly Acquired Telerik

Progress, the provider of solutions for enterprise integration, data interoperability and application development, has completed its acquisition of Telerik AD, a provider of tools and technologies to address the entire application development lifecycle. Telerik co-CEO and co-founder, Vassil Terziev has become Chief Innovation Officer.

Telerik co-CEO and co-founder Svetozar Georgiev has become SVP of Application Platforms for the Application Development and Deployment business unit.

Dimitre Taslakov, Chief Talent Officer for Telerik, will become Chief Talent Officer for the overall Progress business.

Paycom Software Accounting Chief Resigns

Robin L. Waters resigned as Chief Accounting Officer and Controller of Paycom Software, to become the CFO of Sunbeam Family Services. Earlier he served as CFO of AMS Health Sciences.

Well-Known Figure in the Technology Sector Joins TomTom to Lead Technology Strategy

Location and navigation products company TomTom named Peter Overmann as VP of Technology Strategy. Notably, Overmann helped create the WolframAlpha computational knowledge engine, which powers natural language searches in Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Bing, among others. Most recently Overmann held the position of VP, Products & Innovation at Deutsche Telekom.

LogMeIn Gets New CFO

LogMeIn promoted Edward (Ed) K. Herdiech to CFO and treasurer. Having joined LogMeIn in 2006, Herdiech currently serves as the company's SVP of finance and principal accounting officer. Current LogMeIn CFO Jim Kelliher has resigned from his position to pursue an executive role at a Boston-area technology startup. Kelliher, who has served as CFO since 2006, will assist Herdiech during the transition.

Mantech’s EVP to Retire

Louis M. Addeo, EVP of Corporate Development and Strategic Acquisitions, will retire from ManTech, the IT and technical services provider to U.S. federal government customers. Earlier he served as President and COO of ManTech’s Technical Services group. Before that, Addeo was COO of Serco NA, a subsidiary of Serco Group; and President of AT&T Government Solutions.

Constant Contact’s Director Resigns

Thomas Anderson, a member of the Board of Constant Contact, resigns. Anderson is currently the CEO of Education Dynamics, the leader in helping higher education institutions find, enroll, and retain students. Prior to Education Dynamics, he was President, CEO, and member of the Board of Integrity Interactive; SVP, Direct to Consumer Channel, at Sallie Mae; President, CEO, and member of the Board at Upromise (acquired by Sallie Mae); CEO of AmeriFee; SVP of Capital One; and a partner at McKinsey.

Rocket Fuel Appoints CFO with Extensive Experience in the Software and Internet Services Industries

Digital-advertising technology company Rocket Fuel appointed Dave Sankaran as CFO. Sankaran's experience includes serving as CEO and CFO of SupportSpace, a SaaS-based company specializing in cloud based/remote technical services for computers and devices. Previously, he served as EVP and CFO for Nighthawk Radiology; SVP and CFO for Accelrys, and brings additional financial leadership experience from his time spent with companies including Ocular Sciences, PeopleSoft, Affymetrix, Chiron Corporation, Raychem Corporation, and Arthur Andersen & Company.

Well Respected Industry Innovator Joins Bazaarvoice Board

Ratings and reviews software company Bazaarvoice named Mary T. McDowell to its board. She served as a member of the Nokia Leadership Team for nine years until 2012. During her tenure at Nokia, she held the positions of EVP for Mobile Phones, EVP and chief development officer, and EVP and general manager of Enterprise Solutions. Before that, she was SVP of Strategy and Corporate Development and SVP of the Industry Standard Server Group at Hewlett Packard and Compaq. McDowell currently holds board positions with Autodesk and UBM plc.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
