GE Veteran IT Exec Joins StanCorp Financial Group’s Board

StanCorp Financial Group (mkt cap 2.95b) has appointed Debora D. Horvath to its Board of Directors. Horvath is currently the principal and founder of Horvath Consulting. Previously she was EVP for JP Morgan Chase and EVP and CIO for Washington Mutual. Horvath, a 25-year veteran from GE, also served 12 years as SVP and CIO for the GE Insurance businesses. 

Financial Services Company TIAA-CREF CIO Appointed to Selective Insurance’s Board

April 2012 - Selective Insurance Group (mkt cap – 1.46b) elected Annabelle Bexiga to serve on the company’s Board. Ms. Bexiga is the CIO of TIAA-CREF, a Fortune 100 financial services organization and a leading provider of retirement services in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields. Ms. Bexiga is responsible for technology strategy, architecture, initiatives and solutions. Positions prior to TIAA-CREF include CIO at Bain Capital, Managing Director & CIO at JPMorgan Invest, and leadership roles at Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank.

Great American Insurance Executive Joins Violin Memory Industry Advisory Board

Dec 8, 2009 — Violin Memory (mkt cap - 445m) , provider of the world’s fastest and most scalable memory appliances, announced that Piyush Singh, SVP and Chief Information Officer of Great American Insurance, is the latest executive to join the company’s Industry Advisory Board. Singh will assist Violin’s executive management team in accelerating the adoption of its silicon storage solutions as a fundamental technology in the transformation of modern data centers. As SVP and CIO, Singh is responsible for creating the vision and direction of Great American’s IT strategy and operationally executing the same to take the specialty insurer to the next generation. Singh started his IT career in 1988 as a consultant with CitiCorp Overseas Software Limited in Mumbai, India.

First American Title Insurance Company CIO Joins Apptio's Board of Directors as Strategic Advisor

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents.
