Welcome to our monthly update on CIO & Technology Executive Turnover. This newsletter covers Tech roles, including CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and Head of Tech & Ops. These cover the month ending on October 20th, 2014.
C-level turnover declined 5% for the month of September 2013 from year earlier. The month to month change from August 2014 to September 2014 was a bit more positive as C-level changes increased 6%. (Source: Liberum)

July 2013 - Justin Rattner, Intel's CTO and director of the company's labs, is stepping down to meet a requirement in the company's bylaws that employees cannot serve as corporate officers after the age of 65. Intel Labs will report to Intel President Renée James until further decisions related to its leadership are made.

December 2013 - Violin Memory software CTO Jonathan Goldrick has left the company, with no replacement announced.
Mitek, San Diego, CA Revenues: $14.8m
Mitek is mobile solutions provider engaged in the development, sale and service of its software solutions related to mobile imaging.
August 2014 - Mitek said CTO Michael Strange left his position effective Aug. 15 to pursue other opportunities. Mitek named Fritz Hesse as interim VP of engineering.

September 2014 - Visa is searching for a new CIO after Dennis Howard left in September to work as SVP of core technology services at Charles Schwab. A search for a replacement is underway.

October 2014 - The Manatee County School District's chief information and technology officer Mike Borysiewicz has resigned. The district will begin to look for a replacement for the position and Deputy Superintendent of Operations Don Hall will cover Borysiewicz's duties until a replacement is found.

United Stationers is a wholesale distributor of business products, including technology products, traditional office products, office furniture, janitorial and breakroom supplies, and industrial supplies.
August 2013 - S. David Bent, Senior Vice President of eBusiness Services and Corporate CIO, will be leaving United Stationers to pursue a new career opportunity. No replacements announced.

Lawson Products distributes products and services to the industrial, commercial, institutional, and governmental maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) marketplace.
November 2013 - Mr. Robert O. Border, SVP, CIO of Lawson Products notified the Company that he is leaving his current position effective December 1, 2013 to pursue a senior level position with another organization. No replacement has been announced yet.
Epiq Systems, Kansas City, KS Revenues: $438.7m Epiq Systems is a provider of integrated technology-enabled solutions for electronic discovery, bankruptcy and class action settlement administration.
October 2014 - Epiq Systems seeks a proven, high-energy executive to drive the development of leading edge proprietary software and an advanced global network infrastructure, as CTO. The CTO will lead a 250-staff division.

Food & Drug Administration, Silver Spring, MD Revenues: NA

September 2014- Demandware is seeking a CIO who will be responsible for internal IT Applications and Technology Services strategy as well as corporate operations support. The CIO will provide scalable application vision and strategy focusing on the use of cloud technology to deliver strategic business initiatives in the areas of ERP (e.g., Intact and Aquilla), Financial planning (e.g., Adaptive Planning), CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and HRIS (e.g., ADP).
Hancock Bank, Gulfport, MS Revenues: $886.9m (parent co.)
Hancock Bank is the one of two subsidiaries of the Hancock Holding Company. Founded in 1899, Hancock Bank has grown over the years to become a major player in the Gulf South from Texas to central Florida.
September 2014 - Hancock Bank is hiring a CISO, responsible for managing risks relating to information security, corporate security, vendor management, business continuity, crisis management, privacy, and technology compliance.
New York State, Albany, NY Revenues: NA
New York is a state in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.
April 2014 – New York state is looking for a new CIO. The job is to lead the Office of Information and Technology Services (ITS), a relatively new agency with 3,800 employees and a budget of $915 million. The new CIO will replace Brian Digman, who took office in January 2013, two months after the formation of ITS.

August 2014 - Brian Stevens, 50, stepped down as EVP and CTO of Red Hat to join Google as VP, Cloud Platforms. In the interim, the office of the CTO will be managed by Paul Cormier, President of products and technologies at Red Hat.

UPMC is a leading not-for-profit health care delivery system in western Pennsylvania.
September 2014 - CIO and EVP Dan Drawbaugh has decided to step down to pursue other professional interests. Ed McCallister, presently SVP, Enterprise Applications & Business Services, Information Services Division, will serve as interim CIO.
RadioShack Corporation, Fort Worth, TX Revenues: $4.25b
RadioShack Corporation (RadioShack) is engaged in the retail sale of consumer electronics goods and services through its RadioShack store chain.
June 2013 - RadioShack Corporation announced that Ms. Sharon Stufflebeme, the Company's Senior Vice President and CIO, resigned to pursue other interests. Ms. Stufflebeme's duties will be temporarily assumed by various members of the Company's management while the Company commences a search for a replacement.
Neiman Marcus Group, Dallas, TX Revenues: Private
Neiman Marcus Group, through its subsidiary, the Neiman Marcus Group, operates as a luxury retailer in the United States. The company operates through two segments, Specialty Retail Stores and Online.
May 2014 - Neiman Marcus Group, the retailer that announced a data breach shortly after it was discovered more than 40 million credit cards had been compromised at Target, is on the hunt for its first chief information security officer.
LyondellBasell Industries, Houston, TX Revenues: $44.06b
LyondellBasell Industries N.V. is an independent chemical company.
October 2014 - The CTO/Senior Technology Architect’s primary responsibility is to develop, maintain and champion LyondellBasell’s technology architecture. The role will interact frequently with the CIO and other IT leadership in regard to IT technology strategy and architecture development. The position is located in Houston and will be global in scope.

May 2014 - Deputy CIO David DeVries has assumed the role of acting CIO at the Defense Department. DeVries will stay on until the agency finds a permanent replacement for the post, which Teri Takai vacated.

Symetra Financial provides products and services that serve the retirement, employee benefits, and life insurance markets in the United States and the District of Columbia.
May 2014 - George N. McKinnon, SVP and CIO of Symetra Financial, will leave the company. Margaret A. Meister, Symetra EVP and CFO, will take over McKinnon’s responsibilities until he can be replaced, the company also said.
Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington D.C. Revenues: NA
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is the main foreign military espionage organization of the United States, operating under the jurisdiction of Department of Defense (DoD).
August 2014 - Gus Taveras is stepping down as the Defense Intelligence Agency's CTO, with no replacement in place. The agency is also in search of a CIO to succeed Grant Schneider, a career employee who had held the job since 2007 and is on the way out the door.
United States Department of Energy, Washington D.C. Revenues: NA
The United States Department of Energy (DOE) is a Cabinet-level department concerned with the United States' policies regarding energy and safety in handling nuclear material.
August 2014 - Robert Brese will leave his post at the Energy Department as chief information officer on Sept. 5, Federal News Radio reported. The station reports that deputy DOE CIO Dan Adcock will succeed Brese on an interim basis.
USA - Office of E-Government and Information Technology, Washington D.C. Revenues: NA The Office of E-Government and Information Technology (E-Gov), headed by the Federal Government’s CIO, develops and provides direction in the use of Internet-based technologies to make it easier for citizens and businesses to interact with the Federal Government, save taxpayer dollars, and streamline citizen participation.
October 2014 - U.S. CIO Steven VanRoekel is stepping down from his job to join the United States Agency for International Development to help use technology to fight the Ebola virus. Lisa Schlosser, one of VanRoekel’s deputies, will oversee the Office of E-Government and IT until the White House names a permanent replacement.
Ziggo, Utrecht, Netherlands Revenues: NA
Ziggo is the largest cable operator in the Netherlands, providing cable television, broadband Internet, and telephone service. It has been taken over by Liberty Global Plc, the European cable company for about $7 billion.
July 2014 - Dutch operator Ziggo announced that Paul Hendriks, CTO at Ziggo will step down. Kamran Ziaee will be appointed as CIO on an interim basis.
ASOS Plc, London, U.K. Revenues: $ 769.4m
ASOS Plc is a holding company. The principal activity of its subsidiary is Internet retailing.
September 2014 - The CIO of e-commerce giant Asos, Pete Marsden, has stepped down from his post after two years at the company. A process to find Marsden's successor is underway, and that the firm is ruling out neither internal or external appointments.

AT&T: AT&T named Pam Parisian, SVP of mobility and home IT solutions, as CIO of the company’s new AT&T Services division as it reorganizes toward a software-defined public network.
Dell: Dell promoted VP of Dell Commerce Services Paul J. Walsh to the role of CIO and merged the various commerce services he was managing into one organization.
Targetbase: The Customer Engagement Agency and Marketing Services Provider named RAPP exec Mark Zahorik as Chief Delivery Officer, Technology.
Carmax: Carmax, the used-car retailer and a Fortune 500 company, promoted VP of application development and IT planning Shamim Mohammad, 45, as new CIO.
Aireon: Aireon has named FAA veteran Vincent Capezzuto to the position of CTO and VP of engineering.
MAXIMUS: The provider of government services worldwide, named Kelly Clark as CIO, from Optum, part of United Health, where he served as the SVP of Data Operations.
United States Department of the Treasury: Sanjeev “Sonny” Bhagowalia, Chief Advisor on Technology and Cybersecurity to Governor of Hawaii, will serve as deputy assistant secretary and CIO for the U.S. Department of Treasury.
Provade: The provider of enterprise Vendor Management System development for global contingent workforce spend management, has named VP, Technology, Tom Rumberg to the role of CTO.
Avigilon: The end-to-end security solutions firm appoints Dr. Mahesh Saptharishi, SVP, analytics and data science, as CTO.
AMP: AMP, wealth management company in Australia and New Zealand, announced that CIO Lee Barnett is retiring, and former product and advice IT director Craig Ryman will replace her.
Kaspersky Lab: Kaspersky appoints Acting CTO Nikita Shvetsov as CTO.
