Deutsche Bank Appoints Couple of Senior IT Leaders from RBS and Goldman Sachs

Deutsche Bank appointed Scott Marcar as Head of IT Infrastructure, responsible for designing, operating and modernising the Bank’s infrastructure to drive greater security, stability and cost efficiency. Marcar joins Deutsche Bank after seven years with Royal Bank of Scotland, where he most recently held the position of CIO, Corporate and Institutional Banking. He previously held senior technology positions at JPMorgan Chase. 

Deutsche Bank also appointed Richard Shannon as Americas CIO, supporting the Bank’s compliance and regulatory technology initiatives. Shannon will also hold the role of Co-Head of GTO Americas along with Scott Simon, who is currently Regional Head of GTO Americas. Shannon joins Deutsche Bank after 20 years with Goldman Sachs, where he most recently held the position of Global Head of Web Platforms Technology.

Yahoo’s New CIO and SVP for Infrastructure is a Former IT Ops Exec from NetFlix

Yahoo! hired Mike Kail as its CIO, from the streaming video group Netflix. Kail will also hold the title of SVP for Infrastructure and will lead Yahoo's IT and data center operations. Kail was VP of IT Operations at Netflix and previously worked at Attensity, where he was responsible for the Americas data center operations team.

The Hartford Re-Appoints Tech Exec as EVP, Ops and Tech to Advance Business Strategy

The Hartford appoints Bill Bloom as EVP of Operations and Technology, with responsibility of the IT and operations organizations, as well as the company’s technology strategy. Bloom joins The Hartford from EXL, where he was President, Global Client Services. Previously, he held leadership roles at Accenture and served as EVP, Insurance Operations and IT at Travelers. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions with The Hartford’s Group Benefits business.

M&T Bank Names Citibank Tech Exec as CTO 

M&T Bank, an American commercial bank, has named Citibank executive Julieta Ross to the newly created role of SVP and CTO. Ross spent the past 13 years with Citibank, most recently as the bank’s CTO for Latin America and Mexico. Her background also includes roles with Motorola Research, where she was involved in projects instrumental to the development of smartphones and became a key author in the development of Bluetooth technology and patents. At Arpro Technology, Ross helped develop one of the first Internet search engines.

Dell CIO Joins Biotech Firm as EVP, Technology and Business Solutions

Biogen Idec appoints Adriana (Andi) Karaboutis as EVP, Technology and Business Solutions, leading IT operations and advance the company’s use of technology and data to enhance overall engagement with patients and healthcare providers. Karaboutis joins Biogen from Dell where she was VP and CIO, with responsibility for the company’s overall IT enterprise and customer experience. Her background also includes leadership roles in global IT and business operations at Ford Motor Company and General Motors.

Cablevision Names Former Yahoo! EVP David Dibble as CTO

David Dibble, 54, is new CTO at Cablevision Systems Corporation. Most recently, he served as Advisor to the CEO at Yahoo! and previously was the company’s EVP of Central Technology. Before joining Yahoo, he was CTO at First Data, and held numerous senior technology positions at JPMorgan Chase, Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments and FMC Corporation.

RigNet Picks CIO with Global Experience in IT Industry

Network infrastructure provider serving remote communications needs, RigNet, named Sheldon Mundle to the new position of VP and CIO. Mundle has more than 18 years of global experience in the IT industry. His most recent executive position was as the SVP and CIO at BTC (a Cable & Wireless Telecom company). Before that, Mundle worked as an independent consultant in the USA and Caribbean. Mundle also has senior management experience at companies such as Bank of America, KPMG and IBM where he led complex technology integration initiatives and ERP implementations.

AMN Healthcare Services Promotes SVP, IT as CIO 

Jeanette Sanchez has been promoted to the role of CIO at AMN Healthcare Services, the healthcare workforce solutions company. She joined AMN in 2013 as SVP of IT. Sanchez previously held leadership roles like VP, IT at CareFusion; VP IT Global Business Solutions at Mattel and VP, and Americas IT at Bausch & Lomb. She also is Board Member of Mental Health Systems, a leading non-profit organization.

ICF’s New Cybersecurity Business Leader Brings in National Security and Cybersecurity Work Expertise

Global professional services firm ICF International named Samuel Visner as SVP and GM for ICF’s cybersecurity business. Prior to joining ICF, he served as VP and GM at CSC Global Cybersecurity. He was also a SVP at SAIC, and Chief of Signals Intelligence programs at the National Security Agency (NSA). Visner is an associate of the National Intelligence Council, and serves as an advisor to the U.S. national security community. He is also a member of the Council on Technology and Innovation of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA), INSA’s Executive Committee and INSA’s Cyber Council.

Former IBM and Blueprint Software Systems Exec to Lead Technology Initiatives at EHR Software Company

Nightingale Informatix, a cloud-based provider of electronic health record (EHR) software and related services, named Ray Payette as CTO. Prior to joining Nightingale, he was responsible for providing management, deployment, vision and strategy expertise to Blueprint Software Systems’ product line, as SVP, Engineering and Operations. Formerly a senior officer with the Canadian Air Forces, Ray has applied his unique skills in a number of executive lead roles for IBM Cognos.  Among other achievements, he led the team involved in the highly successful Cognos 10 offering.

MWH Global Promotes CIO

MWH Global, the premier solutions provider focused on water and natural resources for built infrastructure and the environment, promoted Claire Rutkowski to the position of CIO following an extensive internal and external search. Most recently, Rutkowski served in regional and global leadership positions at MWH. Rutkowski joined the company in 1998 as the manager of applications training and IT projects delivery.

Aon Appoints NCR Exec as CIO to Deliver the Infrastructure and Innovative Technology Solutions

John G. Bruno, 49, joins Aon as EVP of Enterprise Innovation and CIO, from NCR Corporation. At NCR Bruno held several positions with increased responsibility, most recently as EVP, Industry and Field Operations, and Corporate Development. Before that, he served as Managing Director and VP of IT at Goldman Sachs and held senior technology leadership roles at Merrill Lynch, Symbol Technologies, Cisco, Bristol Myers Squibb, and UPS.

First Ever CIO Appointed at FordDirect

Consumers Energy’s IT exec Raj Singh has been named CIO of FordDirect, the JV between Ford Motor Company and its franchise dealers. Prior to joining FordDirect, Singh was most recently the executive director of IT at Consumers Energy. Singh was also responsible for building a flexible, nimble delivery model, including all aspects of information technology related to business intelligence and IT transformation.

Havas Worldwide Digital Exec Joins Weber Shandwick as Global CTO

Weber Shandwick, the leading global PR firm, named Havas Worldwide Digital executive Lee Noonan as Global CTO. Previously, Noonan built and managed a BD group for Metapa, a software company focused on automating data exchange between enterprises over the internet, as well as serving as Director of Strategic Marketing and Business Planning at Digital Island. Prior to that, Noonan served as Principal Consultant at Oracle.

DataBank Holdings Appoints Founder of Recently Acquired Company as CTO

DataBank Holdings, the provider of data center collocation and managed services, has appointed Bryan Porter, as new CTO. Porter is the former president of Arsalon Technologies, which DataBank bought earlier this year. As CTO, Porter will be responsible for the company’s engineering and product development. Porter founded Arsalon in 2001 with Gary Hall. Like Arsalon, DataBank specializes in data centers and related services.

United States Department of Interior Appoints iCIO as Permanent CIO 

United States Department of Interior appointed its interim CIO Sylvia Burns, an IT executive with the Department since 2006, as CIO. Burns had served as acting CIO since March 2014. Before that, she was associate deputy CIO for policy, planning and compliance. Before joining Interior's CIO office, Burns worked in the Bureau of Indian Affairs, an Interior Department component. She also worked in the Department of Commerce in the International Trade Administration.

U.S. Department of Transportation Appoints New CTO

Maria Roat, the Federal Risk Management and Authorization Director at the U.S. General Services Administration, has been appointed as the CTO at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Roat was previously the Deputy CIO at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and was the Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the CIO.

Gracenet Executive Joins BuildDirect as First CTO Technologies named Tal Ball as its first CTO. Ball brings a unique mix of experience spanning over 25 years in a variety of technology-driven roles and joins BuildDirect most recently from Gracenote, where he was SVP Products, Technology and Content. Ball was an integral part of the development of the company's solutions to power some of the most influential brands in digital media, such as Sony and LG Electronics.

Emdeon VP Joins Aegis Health as CIO

Aegis Health Group, the provider of population health management solutions for hospitals, has named Chuck Steinmetz to the position of CIO. Steinmetz joins Aegis from Emdeon, a national healthcare IT firm, where he was VP of operations for the channel partner division overseeing client and vendor relationships. Steinmetz also served as an IT leader for HMS, now MEDHOST, and OnLife Health (Gordian) in addition to several smaller HCIT startups.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
