Citrix Systems Eliminates CMO Role as Exec Leaves

Steve A. Daheb, SVP and CMO of Citrix Systems, has decided to leave. As a result of the reorganization, Citrix has eliminated the role of CMO. Daheb has agreed to remain as an employee of Citrix to provide transitional advisory services to the company through early 2015. 

j2 Global’s Long-Time Director Resigns

Michael P. Schulhof, 71, resigned from the cloud services and digital media firm j2 Global’s Board. Schulhof has been a director of j2 Global since 1997. Schulhof is a managing partner of GTI Capital Group, a New York and India based firm that specializes in PE investments, as well as advisory services in the aerospace, healthcare, energy and media sectors. From 1993 to 1996, he was President and CEO of Sony Corporation of America.

Demandware Combines Chair-CEO Roles; Makes Other Board and Executive Changes

Demandware, the provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, elected Tom Ebling, 58, as Chairman and Len Schlesinger, 61, as Lead Independent Director. Ebling has served as President and CEO and a member of the board since 2009. Previously, Ebling served as CEO of Lattice Engines; CEO of ProfitLogic, until it was acquired by Oracle in 2005; CEO of Torrent Systems; and held various leadership positions at Marcam Solutions, a software applications company.

Ebling will succeed Stephan Schambach, 43, Demandware’s founder, who will remain on the Board as Chairman Emeritus. Schambach has served as Chairman since the Company’s inception in 2004.

EVP and COO Jeffrey Barnett, 51, will join the Demandware’s Board. Barnett previously served as the Corporation’s EVP, Field Operations. Prior to that, he served as VP of Sales for EMEA of Siebel; Managing Director, International Operations and as VP, International Sales and Marketing of eDocs; held leadership positions at Kenan Systems; and at TRW. He has served on the board of Apperian, a mobile application platform provider, and since early 2013, he has served on the board of Paydiant, a cloud-based payment solutions provider. 

Sheila Flaherty has been promoted to Chief Legal Officer. Flaherty served as SVP and General Counsel for Demandware since 2011. Before joining Demandware, she served as EVP and Chief Legal and Administrative Officer of Stream Global Services, and General Counsel and VP of Abiomed.

Recently Appointed MongoDB’s CEO Leaves Bazaarvoice’s Board 

Recently appointed MongoDB’s CEO Dev Ittycheria, 47, resigned from the Board of Directors of SaaS based social commerce company Bazaarvoice. A former software CEO turned investor, Ittycheria will become president and CEO of MongoDB in September. Ittycheria joins from OpenView Partners, a middle-stage VC firm focused on software. Before that, he was a venture partner at Greylock Partners, President of BMC Software and cofounder and CEO of BladeLogic, a company he sold to BMC in 2008 for $900 million.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
