Cloud Storage and Technology Infrastructure Sees Revolving Leadership Featured

(0 votes) Appoints Mark Hawkins from Autodesk to Replace Retiring CFO Graham Smith has hired Mark Hawkins, 55, as CFO, replacing Graham Smith, 54, who retires. Hawkins was most recently the EVP & CFO of Autodesk. Prior to joining Autodesk in 2009, Hawkins was CFO and SVP of Finance & IT at Logitech International . Hawkins worked with Dell, serving as VP of Finance for the Worldwide Procurement and Logistics organization, as well as VP of Finance for the U.S. Home Segment.  Before joining Dell in 2000, Hawkins worked with Hewlett-Packard for almost 19 years, serving on the Board of Directors for HP's Japan and Shanghai Analytical Joint Ventures and living in Europe. He serves on the board of media sharing solutions company Plex, and served on BMC Software’s board from 2010 through 2013, until the company was taken private.

Graham Smith expressed his intention to retire from his position as EVP and CFO earlier this year. Before joining in late 2007, Smith served as CFO of Advent Software, the software and services provider to the investment management industry. Prior to Advent, Smith was CFO of Vitria Technology, CFO for Nuance Communications, and spent 11 years at Oracle in a variety of senior finance roles, lastly as VP of finance for worldwide operations.

NetSuite CMO Leaves to join Enterprise Financial Software Company in Similar Role

Enterprise financial software company BlackLine Systems hired David Downing, CMO of cloud ERP company NetSuite, as their first-ever CMO.  Downing previously spent five years at NetSuite, most recently as SVP and CMO.  Downing spent the previous 25 years in various senior marketing roles with other leading companies including SAP, Informatica, Oracle, Adobe, Seagate and Hill and Knowlton.

Infor Expands Leadership Team to Support Growth

Infor named Matt Breslin and Lisa Pope as SVPs of Platform Technologies and Cloud Sales respectively.  Previously Breslin served as VP, Platform and Analytics for SAP and prior to that Regional VP for Technology Products at Oracle. Before that he was Financial Planning Manager at Kraft Foods and Sr. Accountant at Price Waterhouse.

Prior to joining Infor, Pope served as SVP at QAD and previously as VP of Strategic Accounts at Oracle. Earlier to that she was Senior Software Sales Executive at NCR Corporation and Presales Consultant at Triad Computer.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
