RBS's ex-boss in US, Ellen Alemany, Joins FIS’ Board

Fidelity National Information Services appoints Ellen Alemany, 58, to its board. A former head of RBS Americas, and Chair and CEO of RBS' Citizens Financial Group, Alemany has more than 35 years of experience in the financial industry. In 2007, Alemany joined as Head of RBS Americas, and Chair and CEO of RBS' Citizens Financial Group, and served as a consultant to the company until her retirement in 2013. Beginning as Area Head of Citibank's NY Leveraged Capital Group, she grew to CEO of Global Transaction Services at the firm and spent five years on the board of Citigroup North America. Alemany began her career in Operations at Chase Manhattan before being recruited to Citibank in 1987. She has served on the boards of ADP since 2011 and CIT Group since early 2014.

Groupon Names CDW's CFO as Independent Director

Groupon appointed Ann Ziegler as an independent director. Ziegler is SVP and CFO of CDW, a leading provider of technology solutions for business, government, education and healthcare, and a Fortune 500 company. She joined CDW in 2008. Prior to joining CDW, she held a number of executive positions with Sara Lee, including finance, strategy and general management roles in both U.S. and international businesses. She also serves on the board of directors of Hanesbrands.

Electronic Payment Solutions Firm VeriFone Appoints Veteran IT Exec as Board Member

VeriFone Systems named Karen Austin to the Company's Board. Austin is SVP and CIO of Pacific Gas & Electric Company, a natural gas and electric utilities company. Before joining PG&E in 2011, she worked for Sears as SVP and President of Consumer Electronics and as EVP and CIO. Austin joined Kmart in 1984 and served, before its merger with Sears, Roebuck and Co. as its SVP and CIO and VP, Applications.

Agilent Technologies Appoints Retiring HR Leader to Board of Spin-off Company Keysight Technologies 

Agilent Technologies’ SVP, HR, Jean Halloran, who has announced plans to retire at the end of the fiscal year, has been appointed to the board of Keysight Technologies, the spinoff electronic measurement products company that comprises nearly half of Agilent. Halloran has been SVP of HR since the formation of Agilent in 1999. She also served at Hewlett-Packard's Medical Products Group.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
