Verizon Appoints Former CSC Cloud Exec as Global Cloud Head 

Verizon appointed former CSC cloud head Siki Giunta to lead Verizon’s global cloud business as SVP Cloud and M2M Connected Solutions, as the company completely re-architected its cloud platform, and eyes consolidating multiple PaaS on its platform. Giunta most recently served at CSC. She also served as CEO of Fortisphere, providing policy-based virtualization management software, and Novell acquired Managed Objects, an application management dashboard provider.

Qualcomm Promotes its Licensing Business Veteran as Company President to Oversee Global Expansion and the BUs 

Qualcomm promotes 13-year company veteran Derek Aberle as its new President. Prior to his current role, Aberle held several roles within Qualcomm's Technology Licensing division, including EVP & President and SVP & GM. In 2000, Aberle joined Qualcomm after representing the Company as outside counsel for several years at large, international law firms.

Connectivity Solutions Giant Appoints Retired Southwest Airlines’ CFO as Director 

TE Connectivity, formerly Tyco Electronics, elected Laura H. Wright, 54, to its Board. Since her retirement in 2012 as CFO of Southwest Airlines, Wright founded GSB Advisors, to provide strategic and financial consulting to growth and non-profit companies. During her 25 year career at Southwest, she served in a variety of financial roles including CFO, SVP of Finance, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. She began her career at Arthur Young & Co

L-3 Communications Crafts Corporate Realignment 

L-3’s structure now consists of these four business segments: Aerospace Systems, Electronic Systems, Communication Systems and National Security Solutions. John C. McNellis, 61, has been named president of Aerospace Systems. Prior to this, he was President of Integrated Systems Group. He also served as President of Link Simulation and Training Division. Prior to L-3, he was President of Lockheed Martin's Tactical Systems unit and held executive positions at Loral and IBM.

John S. Mega, 60, has been named president of Communication Systems. He most recently served as the President of L-3’s Microwave Group. Earlier, he served as the Acting President of LogiMetrics, and VP of finance for the Hycor division at Loral.

Steve Kantor continues in his role as president of Electronic Systems and Les A. Rose continues in his role as president of National Security Solutions.

General Cable’s Europe & Mediterranean CEO Leaves 

Provider of wire and cable products to the communication industry, General Cable’s EVP, President and CEO, Europe & Mediterranean, Emmanuel Sabonnadiere, 49, will transition out of his current position for a period of up to six months. The Company has launched a formal search for a successor and Sabonnadiere will continue in his current position under his current contract during the transition period.

8x8 Appoints Investing and Operating Expert as Board Member

Communications technology company 8x8 appointed Vladimir Jacimovic to its Board. He has over 25 years of investing and operating experience with specific expertise in the Software as a Service (SaaS), Big Data and Security segments. He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Continuum Capital Partners, an investment firm that specializes in crossover investments targeting private and public technology companies. Previously, he was a Partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA), and a Managing Director at Crosslink Capital.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
