Healthcare Automation Leader TeleTracking Adds New CTO for Larger Healthcare Role

TeleTracking Technologies hired CTO Joseph Tetzlaff from inVentiv Health. In his prior role, Tetzlaff was responsible for technology across inVentiv Health's Clinical Division and developed/maintained applications to support Clinical Trial processes as well as acquisition integrations. Before that, he was CIO at the Ingenix subsidiary of United Health Group and CTO of i3, another UHG subsidiary, CTO at WK Health and Ovid Technologies.

Oracle Product Development Exec Joins Emdeon as CIO

Alex Choy has been appointed as CIO at Emdeon, a leading provider of revenue and payment cycle management and clinical information exchange solutions. Choy was most recently Global VP, Product Development at Oracle responsible for all aspects related to research, development and delivery of the Oracle healthcare and life sciences product portfolio. Prior to that, he was the VP Engineering for enterprise software products for Adobe Systems and also held senior positions at Interwoven, Veritas Software, Tandem, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard.

ClearDATA Appoints CTO from HOSTING.COM

ClearDATA, the leading healthcare cloud computing platform and service provider, appoints cloud computing industry executive Matt Ferrari as CTO. He was CTO, VP, Engineering and Director, Platform and Storage Engineering at HOSTING.COM. Before that, he was Project Manager at Exelon and QA Manager at Wingspan Bank.

Box Appoints Healthcare and Life Sciences Practice Advisors 

Box, a developer of content sharing software, has brought on Aneesh Chopra, the first CTO of the United States, and Glen Tullman, former CEO of Allscripts, to serve as special advisors for the company’s healthcare and life sciences practice. As advisors, Chopra and Tullman will help Box deepen its expertise in the healthcare industry and support the growing number of hospitals, health insurance firms, and medical and pharmaceutical companies on its platform.

Chopra is a long-time healthcare industry veteran spending many years at The Advisory Board Company, and served as the first CTO of the United States, appointed by President Barack Obama, and brings policy knowledge on health IT. Chopra is currently the co-founder of Hunch Analytics, a data analytics startup.

Tullman is one of the early pioneers of the healthcare IT industry, building Allscripts. Tullman is now managing partner of 7wire ventures and is focused on companies that promote his firm’s vision of the Intelligent Connected Health Consumer, for more engagement and better health and healthcare decisions.

WellDoc Names Biotech Veteran as President

WellDoc, developers of the first FDA-cleared, mobile prescription therapy, BlueStar, named Kevin P. McRaith as President. McRaith most recently held the position of VP, Sales & Marketing at Human Genome Sciences, Genentech's Hematology Franchise, and Abbott Laboratories. He also spent several years in sales and marketing with Baxter Healthcare.

In conjunction with this move, current President, Dr. Anand K. Iyer, will assume a new role of Chief Data Science Officer

Telehealth Cloud Platform Adds Chief Medical Officer Position to Executive Team

Emerge.MD, the telehealth cloud platform, named Edward M. Reece, M.D., M.S., as its Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Reece joins Emerge.MD as the latest executive recruit to help augment the clinical strategy of the company. Dr. Reece is a board-certified plastic surgeon and subspecialist in surgery of the hand and practices with Arizona Center for Hand Surgery.

Proven Health IT Exec Joins SA Ignite as President to Support Demand

SA Ignite, a provider of software solutions that automate, accelerate, and simplify the achievement of Meaningful Use (MU) of electronic health records (EHRs), appoints Jeff Galowich as its president. Galowich, a proven healthcare technology executive and entrepreneur, formerly served as a co-founder, board member and EVP of Initiate Systems, which was acquired by IBM in 2010. Galowich has been a member of the SA Ignite Board of Directors since 2012.

Chris Edwards, previously with Allscripts, joins as SVP of marketing. Previously, he was VP, Marketing at Allscripts Healthcare Software, SaaS, & Services; Chief Marketing Officer at Vision Care Holdings (Healthcare Private Equity Portfolio Companies); EVP of Global Marketing at BriteSmile Professional Healthcare and before that he worked with marketing agencies. 

Ben Clark, previously with Allscripts, joins as VP of operations. He served as Director of Customer Support and SVP Customer Support at Intuit; SVP of Customer Support atMisys Healthcare; Director or Implementation Services at iSeg Technologies; and VP of Engineering at Strategic Technologies.

New CIO Appointed at Eastern Maine Healthcare System

Eastern Maine Healthcare System appoints Kyle Johnson as VP and CIO. Johnson is the current VP, chief analytics and integration officer of Trinity Health/CHE. During her time with Trinity, she has held numerous positions, including VP of Clinical Applications, VP of Application Services, as well as interim chief medical information officer (CMIO).

Former CMS Administrator and FDA Commissioner to Join board of ArborMetrix

ArborMetrix, a leading provider of real-time healthcare analytics, appointed Mark McClellan, M.D., Ph.D, M.P.A., a senior fellow and director of the Health Care Innovation and Value Initiative at the Brookings Institution, to its Board of Directors.A physician and economist, Dr. McClellan is the former administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and also the former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dr. McClellan is a member of the Institute of Medicine, where he chairs the IOM Roundtable on Value and Science-Driven Health Care.

Clinicient Names Industry Veteran as Chairman and CEO; Adds Catalyst Partners to Board

Clinicient, the revenue cycle management software and clinical solutions company, named industry veteran Rick Jung as Chairman and CEO while Catalyst's Todd Clapp and Ryan McNally to the Board. New CEO Rick Jung has served on Clinicient's Board for six years and spent 25 years working in healthcare services and has extensive revenue cycle management expertise. He previously held senior management positions at US Healthcare (acquired by Aetna); Medsphere, an open source EHR company; and athenahealth, where he helped pioneer cloud-based revenue cycle management solutions.

Clapp is responsible for originating and executing investment opportunities in the internet infrastructure, digital media, wireless communications, and business and consumer services sectors at Catalyst. Prior to joining Catalyst in 2004, Clapp was an investment professional at Lightyear Capital, a growth and buyout private equity firm. He previously worked as an Associate at UBS / PaineWebber in the Principal Transactions Group.

McNally is responsible for developing and reviewing prospective investment opportunities, overseeing portfolio investments and participating in the management of the firm. He focuses on investments in the digital media, software-as-a-service, publishing and business and consumer services sectors at Catalyst. Prior to joining Catalyst, he was a VP and shareholder of Daniels & Associates (now RBC Capital Markets) and was an investment banker.

Streamline Health Appoints New CTO and Head of Client Services to Support Continued Client Growth 

The provider of SaaS-based enterprise content management solutions for healthcare organizations appoints Richard D. Nelli as SVP and CTO. Most recently, Nelli held leadership positions as VP, Product Management at OptumInsight and CTO at CareMedic Systems.

Herbert (Herb) P. Larsen joins as SVP, Client Services. Larsen most recently served as Principal, Healthcare Industry Strategy for Edifecs, as well as several other senior management roles in sales, client services, and product marketing.

He was previously the founder and CEO of Praxis Solutions, which was recognized for two successive years as one of the 25 Fastest Growing Companies by the Indianapolis Business Journal before its acquisition by Number Six Software.

Winzenread most recently served as SVP and COO for Streamline Health. He was previously the founder and CEO of Praxis Solutions, which was recognized for two successive years as one of the 25 Fastest Growing Companies by the Indianapolis Business Journal before its acquisition by Number Six Software.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
