Target’s CIO Resigns; iCIO and CISO to be Appointed Shortly

Target’s CIO Beth Jacob is resigning as the retailer overhauls its information security and compliance division in the wake of a massive pre-Christmas data breach. Jacob had been in her current role since 2008 and oversaw teams in the U.S. and India. Target will name an interim CIO to work through the transition. The company will also be elevating the role of the CISO and hiring externally for the position. 

WellPoint Appoints CIO from Coca Cola Refreshments

WellPoint names Thomas Miller as CIO, responsible for all enterprise-wide IT initiatives with the focus on delivering high quality, secure, compliant and cost effective technologies that enhance WellPoint business capabilities. Prior to joining WellPoint, Miller served as SVP and CIO for Coca Cola Refreshments. He also served in the concurrent role as CIO for the Coca Cola's North America Group. Since 1982, he has held positions including, General Manager, Program Scale & VP, Bottling Investments, VP, Business Information Systems Operations and CIO for the Europe, Eurasia & Middle East Group.

Discovery Communications Promotes Long-Timer to CTO

Discovery Communications promoted John Honeycutt to the role of CTO. He was EVP and COO for Discovery Networks International and was based in London. Prior to his role with Discovery Networks International, Honeycutt served as EVP and Chief Media Technology Officer, responsible for Discovery's global strategic media technology planning and governance and for international broadcast operations across the company. Honeycutt joined Discovery Communications in 2003, after serving as SVP of Broadcast Operations for Fox Cable Networks.

VimpelCom Appoints CTO with Broad International Experience

Telecom services company VimpelCom appointed Yogesh Malik as Group CTO. Before joining VimpelCom, Malik was the CEO of Uninor, an Indian mobile network operator majority owned by the Telenor Group. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he led the Uninor operations as COO. Yogesh' career includes appointments as CTO of Grameenphone in Bangladesh, CTO of Kyivstar in Ukraine and Head of Technology & Sourcing at Telenor Group headquarters in Norway. He also worked for TIW, Tata/AT&T and Ericsson in Czech Republic, Brazil, China and Canada in various senior positions.

Aviva Appoints CIO from Capital One 

Aviva appointed Monique Shivanandan as CIO. Shivanandan, who has worked at Capital One since 2010, previously held the post of CIO and managing director at BT. Shivanandan takes over from Cathryn Riley, who was CIO and chief of the insurance firm until late last year.

Internet Radio Pandora Appoints New CTO and CIO

Pandora promoted VP of Engineering Chris Martin to CTO. Martin joined Pandora in 2004. Prior to Pandora, he worked in various engineering capacities at multiple enterprise software companies, including Quintus, Kenamea and QRS/Inovis.

VP of Technical Operations Steve Ginsberg has been promoted to CIO. Before joining Pandora in 2006, he had management roles at DHAP Digital and MyPrimeTime.

Tom Conrad stepped down from his role as CTO and EVP of Product after nearly ten years at Pandora. Conrad has led Pandora's engineering and product organization from the product's inception and has guided the team as they delivered increasingly sophisticated playlist techniques, mobile, consumer electronics and in-car listening technology, as well as sophisticated advertising solutions.

Conexant CEO Joins Integrated Device Technology as CTO

The provider of essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions appoints Conexant CEO Dr. Sailesh Chittipeddi as global VP of operations and CTO. Prior to that, he held other executive roles at Conexant with responsibility for global engineering, product development, operations, quality, IT and associated infrastructure support. He has earned 64 U.S. patents, and has authored nearly 40 publications.

BMC Appoints Insider as New CIO

BMC appoints Scott Crowder as new CIO after the departure Mark Settle, who is now CIO for IHS. Crowder has worked as Deputy CIO at BMC for two years. Prior to that, he was Blackbaud’s VP, Data Center Operations. He also served as CTO of Kinetera, an online charity fundraising solution.

Plante Moran’s New CIO is Former Kelly Services and Accenture Exec

Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest public accounting and business advisory firms, has named Paul Blowers as CIO.  He had been part of the global IT executive team at Kelly Services, where he was chief architect and senior director of enterprise architecture and business solutions. Prior to that, Blowers worked for Accenture from 1995 to 2007 – working on major assignments serving as lead architecture specialist for a global chemical company and leading technology project teams for several large utility companies across the U.S.

Healthcare Automation Leader TeleTracking Adds New CTO for Larger Healthcare Role 

TeleTracking Technologies hired CTO Joseph Tetzlaff from inVentiv Health. In his prior role, Tetzlaff was responsible for technology across inVentiv Health's Clinical Division and developed/maintained applications to support Clinical Trial processes as well as acquisition integrations. Before that, he was CIO at the Ingenix subsidiary of United Health Group and CTO of i3, another UHG subsidiary, CTO at WK Health and Ovid Technologies.

Oracle Product Development Exec Joins Emdeon as CIO

Alex Choy has been appointed as CIO at Emdeon, a leading provider of revenue and payment cycle management and clinical information exchange solutions. Choy was most recently Global VP, Product Development at Oracle responsible for all aspects related to research, development and delivery of the Oracle healthcare and life sciences product portfolio. Prior to that, he was the VP Engineering for enterprise software products for Adobe Systems and also held senior positions at Interwoven, Veritas Software, Tandem, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard.

ClearDATA Appoints CTO from HOSTING.COM

ClearDATA, the leading healthcare cloud computing platform and service provider, appoints cloud computing industry executive Matt Ferrari as CTO. He was CTO, VP, Engineering and Director, Platform and Storage Engineering at HOSTING.COM. Before that, he was Project Manager at Exelon and QA Manager at Wingspan Bank.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.
