Dr. Jacobs has served as Chairman of the Board since 2009 and as CEO since 2005. He served as Group President of Company's QWI segment from 2001 to 2005. In addition, he served as EVP from 2000 to 2005. Dr. Jacobs was a director of A123 Systems from 2002 to 2012.
Time Warner Cable Names COO and VP of M&A
Time Warner Cable names Dinni Jain as COO. Jain is the former President and COO of Insight Communications, which Time Warner Cable acquired in 2012. He joined Insight in 2002 as EVP and CFO, before being named EVP and COO in 2003. He was promoted to President and COO in 2006, serving in that capacity until the company was sold in 2012. Prior to joining Insight, Jain was Group Managing Director for Strategy for NTL Europe, and held positions at Cellular Communications, Barclays De Zoete Wedd, and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette.
Christian Lee was appointed SVP, Mergers and Acquisitions, following the retirement of 28-year company veteran Satish Adige. In this role, Christian will oversee all M&A, investment, and acquisition integration activity for Time Warner Cable. His last role was VP, Investments at the company. Prior to joining Time Warner Cable in 2007, Lee worked in the Finance and Acquisitions department at Time Warner Inc. and, before that, in the Investment Bank at Citigroup.
Motorola Solutions Board Member Resigns
William J. Bratton, 66, resigned from data communications and telecommunications equipment provider Motorola Solutions’ Board. Bratton's resignation is in connection with his appointment as New York City's next police commissioner. He has previously served as the Commissioner of the Boston Police Department, New York City Police Department Commissioner, and Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Gino A. Bonanotte, 48, acting CFO and corporate VP, has been named CFO and EVP. Bonanotte joined Motorola in 1988 and previously served as corporate VP overseeing financial operations for the company's sales and product operations organization.
Harris Appoints President for Brazil Ops
Telecom equipment provider Harris Corporation has named veteran Latin America business leader Reinaldo C.B. Rezende president of operations in Brazil. Rezende brings to Harris nearly 30 years of in-country business development experience. He joins Harris from General Electric, where he was an executive in the Global Accounts Group. Prior to that role, he held a number of leadership positions at Halliburton including Brazil country operations manager, Brazil country business development manager, Latin America business development manager, and global account manager for Petrobras, an integrated energy company.
BlackBerry's Board Member and C-Suite Execs Quit; New CFO Named
Roger Martin, 57, a BlackBerry Board member since 2007, has resigned. Martin was the Dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto from 1998 to 2013 and is an author of several business books. Martin began his career at Monitor Group, the global management consulting firm and spent 13 years there, becoming a director, founding their Canadian office and their educational arm, Monitor University. He served as the co-head of the firm for two years.
COO Kristian Tear and chief marketing officer Frank Boulben, will leave the company soon. Tear has been with Sony Mobile Communications, where he served as EVP. He previously held a variety of positions at Ericsson.
Boulben is the former EVP of strategy, marketing and sales for LightSquared. Before that, he held positions at Vodafone, Vivendi and Orange.
CFO Brian Bidulka is being replaced by James Yersh. Yersh previously served as SVP and controller. Bidulka will remain with the company as an adviser for the remainder of the company's fiscal year. Prior to joining BlackBerry in 2008, Yersh held various senior positions at Cognos and Deloitte.
Polycom Appoints NCR EVP as CEO
Polycom appoints Peter A. Leav as President, CEO and Director. Leav succeeds interim CEO Kevin Parker, who will continue serving as Chairman. In his most recent role at NCR, Leav was EVP and President of Industry and Field Operations. He led NCR's global go-to-market efforts and Interactive Printer Solutions division, managing its global footprint of manufacturing and distribution capabilities.
