Salesforce Hires Comcast Cable CIO as SVP, Global Communications and Media Industry

Salesforce.com appoints Andrew Baer as SVP, global communications and media industry. In his previous role as CIO for Comcast Cable, Baer transformed the company's IT strategy across all of its corporate systems, including call center, customer self-service, field workforce management, ordering and provisioning, billing, and data centers. He is credited for significant advancements in employee and customer management initiatives at Comcast and implementing cutting-edge solutions to support growth of the Comcast Cable business.

CA Appoints Company Vet to NA Partner Sales Role 

CA appoints Adam Famularo as SVP, Partner Sales, North America. Famularo has more than 15 years of channel experience covering many facets of the CA business. Since joining the company in 1998, he has held numerous leadership roles, most recently serving as SVP of the AppLogic customer solutions unit. Earlier, as SVP and GM of Cloud Computing, Famularo helped set the company's overall cloud strategy. Prior to that, he was SVP and GM of the Recovery Management and Data Modeling business unit.

Fiserv Names Former D&B and Merrill Lynch Exec as Group President

Fiserv names Byron C. Vielehr as Group President of its Depository Institution Services Group. He most recently served as President of International and Global Operations for Dun & Bradstreet. Prior to joining D&B, Vielehr was President and COO of Northstar Systems, CTO and Global Head of eBusiness for Merrill Lynch Asset Management and Merrill Lynch Global Private Client.

Splunk Names Former Continuuity CEO as CTO

Splunk, the leading provider of operational intelligence software used to monitor, report and analyze real-time machine data as well, has appointed Todd Papaioannou as CTO. Splunk co-founder and former CTO Erik Swan will remain at Splunk as a senior advisor to the executive team. Papaioannou joins Splunk from Data Collective Venture Capital (DCVC), a venture capital firm where he was an entrepreneur-in-residence.

Prior to DCVC, he was co-founder and CEO of Continuuity, an early stage big data startup. Papaioannou also worked at Yahoo! serving as VP, chief cloud architect and distinguished fellow, spent five years at Teradata, holding positions including CTO of client software and VP, architecture and emerging technologies, and was chief architect and director of engineering at Greenplum.

Iron Mountain’s CFO Leaves; iCFO Named While Company Looking for Permanent Successor

Iron Mountain’s CFO Brian P. McKeon, 51, will be leaving to pursue other opportunities. McKeon has served as Iron Mountain's CFO since 2007, with overall responsibility for accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury and investor relations.

Roderick Day, 49, SVP and CFO, International, will serve as the company's acting CFO while the company considers both internal and external candidates. Day has been with the company since 2008. Prior to joining Iron Mountain, Day held senior finance positions at AOL Europe, including director of financial control and planning, VP finance and strategy, and most recently, CFO for Europe. Prior to AOL, Day held senior strategic planning and finance roles at Kingfisher.

Nuance Names Icahn Investors to Board

Speech recognition software company Nuance Communications named Brett Icahn to the Company's Board of Directors. Icahn has been employed by Carl Icahn and his affiliated investment funds since 2002 and is currently responsible for co-executing an investment strategy across all industries as a Portfolio Manager of the Sargon Portfolio for Icahn Capital.

David Schechter has also joined the Company's Board of Directors. Schechter has been employed by Carl Icahn and his affiliated investment funds since 2004 and is currently responsible for co-executing an investment strategy across all industries as a Portfolio Manager of the Sargon Portfolio for Icahn Capital.

Retired IBM Exec Joins Board of SS&C Technologies

SS&C Technologies, the software provider to the global financial services industry, named Michael Daniels to the company's Board of Directors. Daniels carved out his career at IBM over 36 years. In his leadership role as SVP of Global Technology Services for IBM Global Services he oversaw the go-to-market and business line management for IBM's offerings in strategic outsourcing, integrated technology services, small and medium business services, maintenance and IBM Global Financing. Prior to this, as GM of Sales and Distribution Operations in the Americas, he restored the business to growth and led Global Services in the Asia Pacific region.

Cornerstone OnDemand Sees Board Changes

Robert D. Ward, 46, resigned from the Board of talent management solutions company Cornerstone OnDemand. He has been a member of the board since 2009. Ward is a Managing Director of Meritech Capital, a venture capital firm.

Joseph P. Payne, 48, former CEO of cloud-based marketing automation leader Eloqua, has been elected to the board. Payne served as CEO and director of Eloqua from 2007 until the company's acquisition by Oracle in early 2013. Prior to his role at Eloqua, Payne served in executive roles at Qualys, iDefense, eSecurity, eGrail and MicroStrategy.

Progress Names Former DataFlux and SAS Exec to Lead Data Integration and Collaboration Business

Progress Software named former DataFlux President and CEO and SAS executive Tony Fisher as the new leader of its data integration and collaboration business. Prior to leading DataFlux, Fisher was the technology director at SAS.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
