McKesson Appoints CFO and Leader of Decision Management Division

McKesson named James A. Beer, 50, as EVP and CFO. Beer will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions for McKesson and replaces Jeff C. Campbell, who left the company in June 2013 to become CFO of American Express. Beer comes to McKesson from Symantec where he served as EVP and CFO managing the worldwide finance organization with responsibility for accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, investor relations, corporate development, purchasing, and audit. Prior to Symantec, Beer was CFO of AMR Corporation and American Airlines. He also managed American Beacon Advisors, a subsidiary of AMR. Prior to joining AMR, Beer spent seven years as a management consultant at Andersen Consulting, now known as Accenture, in Europe and the United States. 

Ian Gordon, former president and CEO of Topaz Shared Services, has been named SVP and general manager for decision management division at McKesson Health Solutions. Prior to his tenure at Topaz Shared Services, Gordon served as COO of BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina and president and COO of Meritain Health. He has also held senior leadership positions at Concentra Preferred Systems, UnitedHealthcare and Aetna.

WebMD Appoints Communications Chief from Bausch + Lomb

WebMD named Adam Grossberg to the newly created role of Chief Communications Officer. Grossberg will lead the management of the Company's brand, reputation and strategic communications activities. He joins WebMD from Bausch + Lomb where he was VP of Global Communications. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of senior communications roles at some of the best-known media and technology companies, including Yahoo, where he had responsibility for all internal and external communications for the company's North American Advertising, Publishing and Media businesses.

MedAssets Names Leader for Revenue Cycle Management Segment

Healthcare performance improvement company MedAssets appointed Amy Dellamora Amick as president of its revenue cycle management (RCM) segment. She was most recently COO for M*Modal. Before that, she was a general manager, worldwide services with Microsoft, where she was responsible for customer-facing functions across Microsoft's Health Solutions Group. Prior to that, she was SVP, services, with Allscripts-Misys, and worked with Cerner in a number of leadership roles, including responsibility for professional services and support across a 13-state territory.

Kleiner Perkins General Partner Joins Board of Practice Fusion

Beth Seidenberg, 55, a general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers, a venture capital firm, has been named to the board of Practice Fusion, an EHR service provider. Prior to joining KPCB, she was SVP, Global Development, and Chief Medical Officer at Amgen. Prior to joining Amgen, she was a senior executive in research and development at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and Merck. She began her career in basic and clinical research at the National Institutes of Health specializing in immunology and infectious diseases. 

Health Integrated Hires Experienced Technologist and Entrepreneur to Manage Innovative Systems and Service Platform

Health Integrated, a recognized innovator in care management strategies for vulnerable and fragile individuals, recently hired G. Francisco ("Cisco") Perin as its SVP of technology and information strategy. Perin is a strategist and entrepreneur, uniquely experienced in a broad range of industries including healthcare, finance, pharmaceuticals, distance learning, and media/publishing with a track record of delivering insights and value. Prior to joining Health Integrated, Perin founded OmniPACS, a healthcare technology company specializing in global, cloud-based software-as-a-service technologies for medical imaging, and CHILI USA, a distributor of medical imaging software manufactured by CHILI GmbH, Heidelberg, Germany.

GetWellNetwork Appoints Health IT Expert as CIO

GetWellNetwork, the leader in Interactive Patient Care (IPC) solutions, appointed David Muntz as CIO. Appointed by the White House, Muntz served as the first Principal Deputy Director of the ONC since 2012. During his tenure he created the Office of Consumer e-Health and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer. Prior to serving in this highly influential role, Muntz was the CIO at both Baylor Health Care System and Texas Health Resources. Early in his career he served a variety of roles from biostatistician to CEO at a cancer research institute and blood bank in Dallas, Texas.

AmeriHealth Caritas Appoints IT Visionary to Lead Information Solutions

Fred Dickson, former VP of IT at Coventry Health Care, a health insurer, has been named SVP of information solutions at AmeriHealth Caritas, a provider of Medicaid managed care tools. He previously served as CIO for the Marshfield Clinic's Security Health Plan and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. Dickson started his career at Prudential Insurance Company and later joined The Pillsbury Company.

McLaren Health Care Hires New CIO

Health network McLaren Health Care has named Ron Strachan as CIO to manage system-wide IT functions. With nearly 30 years of experience, Strachan most recently served as network CIO for Community Network Health, a non-profit health system with more than 200 sites of care and affiliates throughout central Indiana. Additionally, Strachan has held similar positions at WellStar Health System; HealthEast Care System; Matria Healthcare; and Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

CareCloud Appoints CFO from Aprima Medical Software

R. Scott Lentz, former CFO of Aprima Medical Software, has been named CFO at CareCloud, a provider of cloud-based EHR, medical billing and practice management software and services. Prior to Aprima Medical Software, he was CFO at PracticeOne and Picis, as well as COO of Streamline. Throughout his career, Lentz raised more than $200 million in institutional capital to fund organic and acquisitive growth, led the procurement and sale of several companies and registered another (Picis) for an IPO. He is currently an advisory board member to WorkersCount and Cyber Holdings. Lentz began his career in the military, serving six years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard.

 

MedHelp’s CEO and founder Joins Physicians Interactive Holdings Board

John de Souza, CEO and founder of MedHelp, an online health community and health app website, has been named to the board of directors at Physicians Interactive Holdings, a provider of mobile and online clinical tools. Prior to MedHelp, he was a VP at Goldman Sachs, managing the Technology Practice of the Private Equity Group. He was a co-founder and director of Smartleaf, a financial software company providing separate account management solutions. Prior to that, he was the VP of Business Development and Marketing at DESoFT, a company that developed online real-time brokerage systems for retail brokerage firms which was sold to Merrill Lynch. He was a co-founder of Flash Communications, an Internet company (sold to Microsoft) that developed real-time two way messaging systems. He also performed research on guidance systems for robotic surgery at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, virtual reality systems for NASA's Neurolab Space Project, and tools for laparoscopic surgery at the University of Tokyo.

Wellcentive Appoints CEO for Explosive Growth in Population Health Market

Physician-facing, population health management and data analytics solutions company Wellcentive appoints veteran health IT executive Tom Zajac as CEO and board member. Zajac most recently served as Chief Customer Officer of Elsevier, the world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services. Zajac joined Elsevier in 2011 as President and CEO of Elsevier|MEDai, a leading provider of predictive analytics and clinical solutions for payers and providers. He was formerly President and CEO of CareScience, and spent eleven years building Transition Systems’ (TSI) success as the leader in healthcare decision support. TSI was acquired by Eclipsys, where Zajac established and became President of the Business Solutions Division, providing advisory and transformation consulting to customers across its spectrum of products.

OpenTempo Welcomes Industry Veterans to Leadership Team

OpenTempo, a premier provider of integrated workforce management software for healthcare, has welcomed three new members to its management team to support and accelerate strategic growth. Joining the company are industry veterans Jim Crook as Chairman of the Board, Walt Marti as Chief Administrative Officer and John Jordan as VP of Sales and Marketing.

In addition to their individual credentials, Crook, Marti and Jordan bring shared leadership experience from IDX Systems Corporation, where their management efforts helped grow the company to $1.3 billion before being acquired by GE Healthcare in 2006.

As chair of the board, Crook was the former CEO of IDX and he will leverage his 25 years of leadership experience and his strong track record of rapid growth in healthcare IT. Crook is a private equity investor in several healthcare IT companies and serves on several related boards. He is also a Colby College alumnus.

Marti offers extensive experience both in healthcare technology and strategic growth. Prior to joining OpenTempo, he served as VP and general manager of GE Healthcare’s Strategic Relationship Group. During his time at IDX, he held the position of VP and general manager of the radiology business unit and grew that division from $3 million to $130 million.

Jordan offers more than 25 years of experience in managing strategic direction and diverse sales teams. Prior to joining OpenTempo, Jordan was VP of North American sales at dbMotion, which was acquired by Allscripts. He also held similar positions with InSiteOne, GE Healthcare and IDX.

Specialists On Call Appoints Chief Medical Officer

Specialists On Call, a leading provider of clinical telemedicine services to hospitals, appointed Dr. Til Jolly as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Jolly joins SOC with over 20 years of experience practicing emergency medicine and wide-ranging leadership experience in government, the private sector and academic medicine. Dr. Jolly served in leadership positions in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including service as Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Senior Science Advisor in FEMA's National Exercise Division. He also served as medical preparedness lead for 11 Super Bowls while working with the National Football League. Prior to his government service, he had an active academic career and remains Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at The George Washington University. Vocera Names Intuit Exec as EVP, Sales and Services

Vocera Communications, the leading provider of integrated, intelligent communication solutions for mission-critical environments in healthcare, hospitality, energy, retail and other mobile work environments, has named Paul Johnson as EVP, sales and services. Prior to joining Vocera, Johnson was responsible for leading sales and client relationship management for Intuit's financial services SaaS business. Prior to Intuit, Johnson spent three years with Sage Software, where he led a multi-product, multi-channel team of 400 sales and services professionals. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in executive roles at IBM, where during his tenure he was responsible for sales and services functions across multiple channels, including direct sales teams, retail, business partners, telesales, and the Web.

ZeOmega Expands Executive Management Team

ZeOmega, the premier provider of software solutions for population healthcare management, welcomes four new members to its leadership team in continuation of another record year of rapid growth. Truven Health Analytics Names VP of Life Sciences Strategic Consulting

Mason Russell, an internationally known health economist and senior health services research leader, has joined Truven Health Analytics as VP of strategic consulting. Russell comes to Truven Health from inVentiv Health, where he provided global scientific leadership and management in health economics and outcomes research for the Clinical division. Prior to joining inVentiv Health, he served as head of health economics at RTI Health Solutions and as a VP of Abt Bio-Pharma Solutions. Aspects of his research have appeared in more than 125 manuscripts and abstracts published in scientific journals.

Infina Connect Announces New CEO

Infina Connect, a pioneer in the development of cloud-based healthcare solutions, appointed Mark Hefner as its new CEO. Mark Hefner comes to Infina from Allscripts where he served as Segment VP, leading their Health Systems Group and related professional services business. He brings 30 years of experience in the technology industry, including executive leadership positions in general management, marketing, product management, operations and business development. He previously led healthcare IT businesses for GE Healthcare and Hill-Rom IT Solutions.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members.
