Cisco’s Chief Technology and Chief Strategy Officer Joins Gap as Director

Gap appoints Padmasree Warrior, 52, chief technology and chief strategy officer of Cisco, to serve on the Board. Prior to joining Cisco, Warrior worked at Motorola for 23 years, where she started as a research engineer and exited as its Chief Technology Officer. Her roles of increasing responsibility over the years included leading global innovation, overall research and development, Global Software Group and Early Stage Businesses. She also led the Motorola's Energy Systems Group, which was a global business with diversified products in the mobile phone, portable computing and hand held electronics markets.

AT&T Exec Joins CPG firm Clorox’s Board

The Clorox Company elected Esther Lee, 54, to its board of directors. Lee serves as SVP - brand marketing, advertising and sponsorships for AT&T. Lee oversees all brand marketing, advertising creative and media strategy for AT&T, as well as the integration of brand leadership into the company's business strategies. Before joining AT&T in 2009, she served as CEO - North America and president - global Brands for Euro RSCG Worldwide. Previously, she served five years as global chief creative officer for The Coca-Cola Company where she drove creative strategy and development of fully-integrated campaigns for the company's global brands. 

Industrial Distributor Appoints Former Express Scripts CIO to Board

Industrial distributor HD Supply Holding appointed Patrick R. McNamee, 52, to Board. McNamee is EVP and COO of Express Scripts. He joined Express Scripts in 2005 as SVP and chief information officer, expanding his role to its current scope in 2007. Prior to joining Express Scripts, McNamee worked for Misys Healthcare Systems, a healthcare technology company, as president and CEO, Physician Systems, from 2003 to 2005. McNamee was employed by various subsidiaries of GE from 1989 to 2003, including as president and CEO, GE Surgery, GE Medical Systems, chief information officer and chief quality officer, NBC, and chief information officer and general manager of e-Business, GE Transportation Systems.

Twitter Exec Named Director of Real Estate Services Firm

Shailesh Rao will become an independent director of global real estate services firm Jones Lang LaSalle. Rao is the VP for Asia Pacific, Latin America and Emerging Markets at Twitter. Before joining Twitter in 2012, Rao served for seven years in a number of roles, including Managing Director for India, at Google. He also played a leadership role in the growth of Google’s YouTube business globally as VP for the YouTube and Display businesses across Asia Pacific.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
