Former AT&T Long-Timer Joins Sprint Board
Sprint has elected Sara Martinez Tucker, 56, to the board. Tucker is the president and CEO of the National Math + Science Initiative. Its programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are transforming teaching, schools and education in the U.S. Tucker most recently served as the Under Secretary of Education in the U.S. Department of Education. Prior to joining the Department, she worked for nine years as the CEO and president of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF). Prior to joining HSF in 1997, Tucker spent 16 years at AT&T, becoming the first Latina to reach the company's executive level.
Recognized Consumer Industry Business Leader Joins Hershey Board
The Hershey Company appointed Mary Kay Haben, 55, to its Board. Haben, a highly respected business leader with demonstrated success in global management, retired in 2011 from a successful 33-year career managing consumer food and confectionery businesses. At the time of her retirement, she was President, North America of Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, a subsidiary of Mars. Prior to Mars' acquisition of Wrigley in 2008, she was Wrigley's Group VP and Managing Director, North America. Before Wrigley, Haben was with Kraft Foods for 27 years, where she led several multi-billion dollar divisions, including the Cheese, Meals and Enhancers Divisions.
Cisco’s Chief Technology and Chief Strategy Officer Joins Gap as Director
Gap appoints Padmasree Warrior, 52, chief technology and chief strategy officer of Cisco, to serve on the Board. Prior to joining Cisco, Warrior worked at Motorola for 23 years, where she started as a research engineer and exited as its Chief Technology Officer. Her roles of increasing responsibility over the years included leading global innovation, overall research and development, Global Software Group and Early Stage Businesses. She also led the Motorola's Energy Systems Group, which was a global business with diversified products in the mobile phone, portable computing and hand held electronics markets.
Symantec Nominates Two New Directors
Symantec nominated Major General Suzanne Vautrinot, soon to retire as head of the Air Force component of the U.S. Cyber Command, and Anita Sands, who will be leaving UBS Wealth Management Americas after serving in several top positions, to board.
Previously, Vautrinot was special assistant, vice chief of staff of the Air Force; director of plans and policy, U.S. Cyber Command, Fort George G. Meade, Md.; and deputy commander, Joint Functional Component Command - Network Warfare, U.S. Strategic Command, Fort George G. Meade.
Sands is the Head of WMA Change Leadership and a Group Managing Director at UBS Wealth Management Americas (WMA), where she oversees a team of 2,000 technology and operations staff. The former COO is currently a member of the WMA Operating Committee. Sands has held a number of important roles, including Head of Transformational Management, Operations & Technology at Citigroup; Head of Innovation and Process Design at the Royal Bank of; Director of CIBC Treasury at CIBC; and Executive Director of Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Industry Center.
AT&T Exec Joins CPG firm Clorox’s Board
The Clorox Company elected Esther Lee, 54, to its board of directors. Lee serves as SVP - brand marketing, advertising and sponsorships for AT&T. Lee oversees all brand marketing, advertising creative and media strategy for AT&T, as well as the integration of brand leadership into the company's business strategies. Before joining AT&T in 2009, she served as CEO - North America and president - global Brands for Euro RSCG Worldwide. Previously, she served five years as global chief creative officer for The Coca-Cola Company where she drove creative strategy and development of fully-integrated campaigns for the company's global brands.
Former Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Appointed to Western Union Board
The Western Union Company appointed Frances Fragos Townsend, 51, to its Board of Directors. Townsend has served as EVP of Worldwide Government, Legal and Business Affairs at MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, and previously served as SVP of Worldwide Government, Legal and Business Affairs. She was a corporate partner at the law firm Baker Botts. Prior to that, she served as Assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and chaired the Homeland Security Council. She also served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor Combating Terrorism. She was the first Assistant Commandant for Intelligence for the United States Coast Guard and spent 13 years at the United States Department of Justice in various senior positions.
Avon Appoints McKinsey Senior Partner as New Board Member
Avon Products elected Nancy Killefer, 59, to the Board. Killefer is currently Senior Partner at McKinsey. She will be retiring from McKinsey soon. During her distinguished 32-year career with McKinsey, she has focused on strategy, marketing, and organizational effectiveness and efficiency issues. Her emphasis had been on consumer-based and retail industries prior to her work in the public sector and her subsequent founding of McKinsey's Public Sector Practice. She also led the Washington, D.C. office from 2000 to 2007 and the global Public Sector practice from 2005 to 2011. She also has experience in the public sector, serving as Assistant Secretary for Management, CFO and COO at the U.S. Department of Treasury from 1997 to 2000, and as a member of the IRS Oversight Board from 2000 to 2005.
Kimberly Ross will step down from the Board. Avon had previously announced that Ross, the company's CFO, would serve as a Director on an interim basis, and step down upon the appointment of an independent director.
CSC Elects Seasoned McKinsey Exec as New Board Member
CSC elected new board members, Nancy Killefer, 59. Killefer, a senior partner at McKinsey, who will be retiring at the end of the month, had joined McKinsey in 1979. She founded and led its public sector practice. From 1997 to 2000, Killefer served as assistant secretary for management and CFO for the U.S. Department of Treasury.
