VMware Appoints SVP, Global Channels and Alliances

Dave O'Callaghan has joined VMware as SVP of global channels and alliances. In this role, he will be responsible for the growth of the company's global partner organisation and help deliver solutions pertaining to software-defined data centers, hybrid cloud and the mobile workspace. Prior to joining, VMware, O'Callaghan worked for 12 years with Cisco, most recently as VP, Worldwide Commercial Sales.  He has also held several sales-centric roles at Hitachi Data Systems and Memorex Telex.

Former Thomson Reuters CFO is New Board Member of Citrix Systems

Citrix Systems, the company that provides server and desktop virtualization, networking, SaaS and cloud computing technologies, added former Thomson Reuters CFO and Vice Chairman Robert (Bob) D. Daleo to the board. Daleo held the COO of Thomson Newspapers position, and served in a number of financial and operations positions at McGraw-Hill and Automatic Data Processing before joining Thomson. He is a director at Equifax and chairs the Fordham University board of trustees.

Accenture Exec Joins TeleTech as EVP, Global Markets and Industries

TeleTech Holdings, the provider of technology-enabled customer experience solutions, has appointed Keith Gallacher to the newly created position of EVP Global Markets and Industries. Gallacher will be responsible for accelerating growth and driving new business globally for TeleTech's integrated suite of customer experience technologies and services. Gallacher joins TeleTech from Accenture, where he served as Partner, Managing Director. At Accenture, he held several senior executive roles with responsibilities crossing strategic direction and market assessment, collaborative development of new solutions and building and revitalizing sales organizations to drive new market penetration and accelerate growth. Prior to Accenture, he held leadership roles at Cognizant Technology Solutions, CSC Consulting and HP/EDS.

PFSweb Board Member Replacements

PFSweb, an international provider of end-to-end ecommerce solutions, appointed Shinichi “Shin” Nagakura, 49, to its Board of Directors. In addition, Timothy M. Murray, 59, a non-employee Director, is retiring from the Board. Nagakura is a Director of transcosmos, a leading Japanese BPO company. Nagakura brings over 15 years of experience investing in and advising technologies companies, including RealNetworks, Brightcove and AskJeeves. Prior to TCI, he worked for ten years at Recruit, a leading Japanese publishing and Internet media and marketing services company. He also serves on the Board of Merlin Information Systems, an international provider of high quality, personalized IT and customer support solutions, and Become, a leader in electronic commerce and online comparison shopping.

Murray has served as a non-employee Director of the Company since its inception in 1999. He is a partner of Chicago Growth Partners (a private equity firm) and is a managing director of several private equity funds related to William Blair Capital Partners. From 1979 to 2004, he was employed at William Blair & Company (an investment banking firm) and was a Principal of that firm from 1984 to 2004.

Go Daddy Names Former Interim CEO as COO, CFO

Go Daddy named Scott Wagner as COO and CFO at the hosting firm. Wagner was a KKR Capstone Member and the leader of its portfolio operations team in North America before working with Go Daddy a short time after KKR, Silver Lake Partners and Technology Crossover Ventures made significant investments in Go Daddy in 2011. Wagner had served KKR for 13 years, working with its portfolio companies as both an advisor and stand-in executive with a particular focus on technology, media and payments. Under his watch as interim CEO from 2012 to January 2013, GoDaddy launched new products for customers, such as mobile websites and Reseller Hosting and opened an office in Hyderabad, India, to serve customers there.

Seagate Cloud Subsidiary EVault Appoints Leaders for Worldwide Operations and Brazilian Market

EVault, the online backup & cloud storage services subsidiary of Seagate, named Brett Flinchum as VP of Worldwide Operations. A seasoned business leader with more than 15 years of operations experience, he will lead EVault's worldwide operations department, which is responsible for business services, IT operations, technical support, and customer and expert services. Prior to joining EVault, Flinchum was COO at MegaPath Corporation, formerly Covad Communications.

The company also appointed Joao Alberto Simoes to manage EVault operations in Brazil. Simoes, a business leader with more than 20 years of experience in Brazil and Latin America with national and multinational companies, will be responsible for developing and growing EVault's presence and business in Brazil, one of the key markets in Latin America. Prior to joining EVault, Simoes was Brazil Toughbook Area Manager at Panasonic Computer Solutions Company, where he was responsible for startup sales operations in Brazil, from planning to product launch, pricing strategy, and for building the distribution structure and channel sales program. Simoes worked for VIVIO-Telefonica for almost 10 years prior to his time with Panasonic. During his tenure at VIVO-Telefonica he managed some of their largest corporate customers, helping to grow their business across Latin America.

Parallels Names Head of Sales and Marketing for Service Providers

Web and cloud hosting automation solutions provider Parallels named former Microsoft senior executive Mauro Meanti SVP and general manager of sales and marketing for cloud service provider business unit. The move comes a few months after networking giant Cisco acquired an equity stake in Parallels. Meanti most recently VP for business strategy in Microsoft International. During his tenure at Microsoft, Meanti served as country manager of Italy, server business group lead for EMEA and chief operations officer in Russia. Meanti got his start the IT industry in 1985 as a software programmer at Olivetti before he eventually joined Microsoft in 1990.

CloudByte Names Former SanDisk GM as CEO

CloudByte, the company that offers data centre storage solution for cloud service providers and enterprise, appointed Greg Goelz as CEO.  The former SanDisk Corporation executive brings more than 25 years of experience as a sales and marketing executive, with a track record in building worldwide teams and strategic partnerships, as well as growing revenues for data storage companies. At SanDisk, he was GM of the enterprise storage solutions (ESS) business unit. He joined SanDisk via the Pliant Technology acquisition and was instrumental in the sale and integration of Pliant's enterprise solid state technology. While at SanDisk, he also led the acquisition and integration of FlashSoft and Schooner Information Technology into ESS. He has held executive-level global sales and marketing positions at both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies such as SGI, Iomega, and Conner Peripherals.

Srivibhavan Balaram, CloudByte founder and initial CEO, has led CloudByte since its inception in June 2011. Going forward, he will lead the company's AsiaPac and European business operations as COO.

Start-Up SageCloud Expands Exec Team

SageCloud, an early-stage software company developing energy-efficient solutions at disruptive price points for cold storage, announced the addition of three new members to the executive team:  John Hogan, a software executive with over 20 years of experience managing engineering, product management, and R&D teams at organizations including IBM, Unica, Plumtree Software, and Oracle, has joined SageCloud as VP engineering and product management to drive product delivery and future roadmap.

Marni Hoyle, a software marketing veteran who has led strategic marketing direction and execution at successful start-ups including NewsEDGE, ProfitLogic, and Newforma, will assume the role of VP marketing.

Yaron Naor, a senior BD executive with global experience driving strategic partnerships for telecommunications innovators Comverse and Telcordia, has joined as VP business development to spearhead the company's go-to-market growth via OEM relationships.

Soonr Appoints Seasoned Leaders to its Management Team

Soonr, provider of secure online file sharing and collaboration services, added two executives: storage industry leader Victoria Grey joins as CMO and HP veteran Brent Maxwell as VP of Business Development.

Victoria Grey brings to Soonr more than 25 years of enterprise marketing and leadership experience, and will drive the company's global corporate and channel marketing efforts. During her career, she has helped guide several enterprise storage companies, including Quantum, EMC, and Legato Systems, following several years at Apple. Prior to joining Soonr, she served as SVP marketing at storage system provider Nexsan. She is a recipient of the Tribute to Women in Technology award, and has serve on a number of industry boards.

Brent Maxwell is a seasoned and experienced senior business development executive with a track record of success in the mobile industry. Before joining Soonr, he was VP, strategy and alliances at Appcelerator, a cross-platform mobile application development platform company, where he built-out a partner ecosystem and an indirect sales channel. Prior to that, he held several executive roles in solution sales, marketing and strategy for cloud applications at Hewlett-Packard. Prior to HP, he led sales and marketing planning at Miller Brewing Company and advised CxO's in a variety of industries as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney. He also served in the US Navy in Washington DC, where he was a technical program manager in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Directorate.

Scale Computing Appoints Head of Marketing

Scale Computing, the developer and manufacturer of complete, end-to-end midmarket clustered storage solutions, named Vanessa Alvarez as Head of Marketing. Alvarez will be responsible for leading the development of the company's brand, positioning and demand generation. She has spent the last nine years as an analyst, with firms such as The Yankee Group and Forrester Research. She comes with expertise in enterprise data center technologies and industry perspective. Most recently, she was director of product marketing for Gridstore, a software defined storage company where she executed the company's go to market strategy.

NuoDB Appoints CTO

NuoDB, the pioneer in cloud data management systems (CDMS), appointed Seth Proctor as its CTO.  As the company’s fourth employee, Seth was the founding member of the NuoDB engineering team and architected the administrative and management layers of the NuoDB CDMS.  He has worked closely with NuoDB Co-Founders Barry Morris and Jim Starkey since 2010 to bring the NuoDB Starlings Release to general availability in January 2013. Since commercial availability, Proctor has led numerous strategic initiatives for the company. Prior to NuoDB, Seth worked at Nokia on its internal private cloud architecture. Before that he was at Sun Microsystems working in the research labs and collaborating with product groups and universities. Seth has developed new ways of looking at distributed transactions, caching, resource management and profiling in his efforts such as Project Darkstar.  Darkstar was a key effort at Sun which provided greater insights into how distributed databases can scale effectively.

Former Dell and Citrix Systems Exec Joins GreenBytes for Product Management Role

GreenBytes, a Rhode Island-based desktop virtualization technology developer, named Michael Richtberg as the company’s VP, Product Management. Richtberg, who previously held executive level posts at Dell and Citrix Systems, has an expertise in the desktop virtualization technology arena. He will join GreenBytes executive team and further refine the company’s award-winning IO-Offload product. Formerly, he was Advanced Planning Director, CTO Office, End User Computing; and Product Strategy & Business Development Director - Desktop Virtualization at Dell. He also served as Sr. Director, Business Strategy / Product Management at Citrix Systems.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
