MedAssets Appoints Defense Personnel as BU Head

MedAssets, the provider of technology enabled products and services for hospitals, appointed Keith L. Thurgood, Ph.D., as president of its Spend and Clinical Resource Management (SCM) segment. He most recently served as deputy commanding general and chief of staff for the United States Army Reserve.

Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Overseas Military Sales Corporation, SVP, operations with Sam's Club, CEO of The Exchange, the Department of Defense's $10 billion for-profit, multi-channel global retailer with 45,000 associates and operations in 30 countries. Before that, he served the U.S. Army as commanding general of the 143rd Transportation (Logistics/Forward Command) and deputy commanding general of the 377th Theater Support Command supporting logistics operations in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa. From 1988 through 2006, he held a number of positions with PepsiCo and Frito Lay, including director of strategic sourcing, director of supply chain management, and director of strategy and innovation. He began his military career in 1981, serving in the U.S. Army as a transportation and logistics officer.

Streamline Health Solutions Names CTO and Head of Client Services

Provider of enterprise content management and business analytics solutions for healthcare organizations, Streamline Health Solutions, made a series of changes and additions to the Company's executive management team: Gary Winzenread will be resigning as SVP and Chief Operating Officer.

Richard D. Nelli will be joining the company as SVP, CTO. Richard Nelli is an accomplished senior executive and widely recognized industry thought leader with twenty-two years of experience in the healthcare information technology (HCIT) space. Most recently, he has held leadership positions as VP, Product Management at OptumInsight and CTO at CareMedic Systems.

Herbert (Herb) P. Larsen will be joining the company as SVP, Client Services. Herb Larsen has 25 years of experience in healthcare payer and provider technology and operations. Most recently, he served as Principal, Healthcare Industry Strategy for Edifecs, as well as several other senior management roles in sales, client services, and product marketing.

Medidata Solutions Vet Marketing Exec to Retire

Medidata Solutions’ EVP-Product and Marketing Lineene Krasnow, 60, will be retiring. She has more than 25 years of marketing, business development and sales experience at Medidata. She joined Medidata Solutions after holding various executive positions at IBM, like VP of Corporate Marketing Management, VP of Worldwide Marketing Management, VP of Marketing for IBM Personal Systems Asia-Pacific in Tokyo, VP of Intel-based Server Marketing and VP of Marketing and Communications.

WellPoint Names CMO

WellPoint named Patrick Blair as SVP and CMO. Blair is an industry veteran who has more than 15 years experience and a proven track record of success in corporate strategy, sales, marketing and product development. He most recently served as chief marketing and development officer for Amerigroup, which was recently acquired by WellPoint, where he was responsible for identifying, evaluating and directing the company’s growth investments as well as formulating and implementing strategic business development initiatives.

M*Modal Exec Joins HealthTech as VP, Marketing

HealthTech, a health IT Company, has hired veteran healthcare marketing executive Tom Mitchell as VP of marketing. Mitchell will focus on developing and executing marketing plans that maximize awareness and market share of HealthTech’s operating companies, which include Healthcare Management Systems (HMS), MEDHOST and PatientLogic. Mitchell comes to HealthTech from M*Modal where he led a number of marketing activities, including the rebranding of the company. He has held marketing roles with companies including Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences (Perot Systems) Business Process Outsourcing segment, DocuSys, The SSI Group, and EBSCO Information Services.

EMRapproved appoints COO as New CEO

Healthcare IT Company EMRapproved has named COO Kevin Donnelly, 53, as CEO. He joined EMRapproved in 2012 as a revenue model consultant and was quickly recognized for his significant contributions to the company with his appointment to COO. Prior to that, Donnelly co-founded NexMed Solutions to provide innovative solutions to healthcare organizations in reducing cost and improving outcomes by leveraging health information technology through a portfolio of small and midsized companies. Prior to NexMed, he worked with the College of American Pathologists where he was responsible for the management of SNOMED CT, the most comprehensive, multilingual clinical terminology for EMRs in the world. Donnelly has also held senior management positions at Procter & Gamble, Cardinal Health, Baxter International, and American Hospital Supply Corporation. He was also co-founder and COO of Business Logic Corporation, a venture-backed software and services company.

Healthrageous Expands Technology Team

Healthrageous, a leader in personalized digital health management, has added three experts to its team, to focus on enhancing the company's personalized self-management software applications, health analytics, mobile device and quality management.

Somu Vadali joins Healthrageous as VP of Product, bringing over 16 years of experience building technology products for the business-to-business and consumer markets, specializing in software for mobile devices and applications, and enhancing the consumer web experience. Previously, Somu was Director of Product at Akamai Technologies, creating strategies for accelerating mobile web access. He also led the product team at Nuance Communications, where he built a speech recognition platform and mobile applications for content discovery in the consumer electronics space.

Wendy Turenne joins Healthrageous as VP, Informatics, where she will head up analytics and reporting. She has over 13 years of experience in health analytics, effectiveness studies and program operations. Wendy served as VP of Informatics at Alere Health, where she led reporting and analytics efforts for a variety of disease and care management programs. She also spent several years focused on clinical effectiveness and research at the Children's National Medical Center and University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Most recently she coordinated clinical operations, technology and analytics for a startup company, implementing wellness and population health programs.

Online Healthcare Services Firm Enhances Team

Ramesh Subramani, emergency department physician and former McKinsey consultant, has been named chief medical officer of Analyte Health, the online health care company. Karen Soares, former litigation associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, has been named chief compliance officer of Analyte Health.

Health Care Veteran Joins Amplion Clinical Communications

Tom Stephenson, former CEO of Healthcare Management Systems, a provider of hospital information systems, has been named president and COO at Amplion Clinical Communications, a provider of wireless patient-care communication tools. He began as a programmer and ended his tenure there as CEO at Healthcare Management Systems prior to joining Amplion.

WellAware Systems Appoints OptumInsight Exec as VP of Sales

Perry Josey, former employee of UnitedHealthcare's OptumInsight, has been named VP of sales at WellAware Systems, a provider of remote patient monitoring systems. Prior roles included business development with Unisys Health Information Management Division and First Health Services Corp/Coventry Health. Prior to his recent health care industry focus, he developed and managed partnering deals for Viasoft/Allen Systems Group's enterprise software solutions working with solution providers such as IBM Global Services, CSC, Anderson Consulting and Keane, among others.

Audax Health Appoints Four Executives To Its Leadership Team

Audax Health, an end-to-end digital health company, named four industry leaders to its already robust executive team. Camille Watson as CMO, Tom Perrault as chief people officer, Dogu Celebi as SVP of informatics, and Phil Harker as SVP of client development and operations.

Camille Watson brings nearly 20 years of marketing experience to Audax Health and will lead the company’s national marketing and branding efforts. Most recently, she was the VP of marketing and communications at LivingSocial, where she was responsible for overseeing execution of the company’s marketing, communications and brand strategy on a global scale. With a proven track record in B2B and B2C marketing, Ms. Watson began her career in brand management for Proctor and Gamble and The Clorox Company. She subsequently held marketing leadership positions at several highly successful consumer Internet companies including Netflix, StubHub, and GameFly.

As the chief people officer for Audax Health, Tom Perrault will leverage his strong background in organizational development and workforce management to oversee the company’s human resources operations and its quickly scaling employee base. He most recently served as the VP of human resources at Meebo, a social networking company that was acquired by Google. In addition, Mr. Perrault has held senior human resources positions at Glu Mobile, a mobile gaming company; ZipRealty, a technology-based real estate company; and Blue Shield of California, an independent member of the Blue Shield Association.

Dogu Celebi, MD, MPH is a clinical epidemiologist and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in managed care, health services research and medical informatics. He joins Audax Health from OptumInsight, a leading health services business, where he focused on driving the strategic B2B growth of the company through the development of large-scale care and disease management programs and market-leading analytics and informatics tools for measuring health care quality, efficiency and outcomes. Prior to OptumInsight, he held senior management positions at Ingenix, IHCIS and CIGNA.

Phil Harker is a seasoned executive with more than 15 years of health care and consulting experience. Throughout his career, he has focused on the deployment of new and innovative technologies to enable solutions for large-scale issues and initiatives in the health care industry. He spent the past 10 years at Optum/Ingenix in various senior leadership roles within the company’s payer solution practice group. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at TenFold Corporation and served as a senior consultant with Deloitte and in the national health care practice at Touche Consulting Group.

IOD Names COO as CEO

IOD, a leading provider of integrated HIM solutions for hospitals, IDNs, healthcare systems and clinics, named George Abatjoglou as the company’s new CEO.  Abatjoglou previously served as IOD’s COO since 2010. Before joining IOD, he was the CEO of eWebHealth, a provider of electronic legal health record workflow solutions. He served as the CFO officer and head of eWebHealth product operations for ChartOne, a provider of Release-of-Information and related medical record services. He earned his certified public accountant credentials at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the early 1990s and served in numerous financial and operational leadership positions over the course of his early career.

ExperiaHealth CEO Joins Parent Vocera as Chief Medical Officer

Vocera Communications, a provider of mobile communication solutions focused on addressing critical communication challenges facing hospitals, extended the company's commitment to improving the patient experience by naming M. Bridget Duffy, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Vocera Communications. She  brings vast expertise in using technology and process improvements to rapidly transform and humanize the patient experience to her new role as CMO of Vocera. She is founder and former CEO of ExperiaHealth, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vocera Communications. Prior to founding ExperiaHealth, she served as Chief Experience Officer of the Cleveland Clinic.

Net Health Systems Announces New CFO

Net Health Systems, the leading provider of clinical documentation and work flow systems for the rapidly growing field of wound care, is pleased to announce hiring Patrick Rooney as its CFO. Most recently, he served in a consulting role with a large, publicly traded company performing acquisition integration services. Previously, Mr. Rooney was CFO for a manufacturing company. He has served as CFO of a start-up in the solar energy industry, where he was part of the executive team effort of raising over $150 million in funding. Healthsense Names Health IT Expert and Former Oracle Exec as CEO

Healthsense., the leading provider of next-generation remote monitoring solutions for the senior care market, named A.R. Weiler as president and CEO. Co-founder and previous CEO, Brian Bischoff, will serve as a consultant to the company. Weiler is a health-care industry veteran who brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to Healthsense. He has held a variety of executive positions including SVP of payer services for Emdeon, SVP for Virgin HealthMiles, SVP of provider sales and account management at UnitedHealth Group’s Ingenix, and VP of Oracle’s North America health-care division.

Dora Vell
