Sempra Energy Elects CEO as Chair

Sempra Energy named CEO Debra L. Reed, 56, as chairman of the company, succeeding Donald E. Felsinger, 65, who is retiring after a 40-year career with the company. Reed was named Sempra Energy's CEO last year. Reed has worked for the Sempra Energy companies for 34 years. Prior to her appointment as CEO last year, she was EVP of Sempra Energy. Previously, she served as president and CEO of Sempra Energy's two largest subsidiaries, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas). She also was chief operating officer of the two utilities, after initially being appointed president of SDG&E. Reed first joined the company in 1978 as an energy systems engineer at SoCalGas.

Over-The-Counter Drugs Company Names Board Member

The Perrigo Company appointed Jacqualyn A. Fouse, Ph.D., 51, as a new director of the Company. She has served as EVP and CFO of Celgene Corporation, a leading global biopharmaceutical company, since 2010. She previously served as CFO for Bunge, a leading global agribusiness and food company, SVP, CFO and Corporate Strategy, at Alcon Laboratories, a leading eye care company. Prior to Alcon Laboratories, she was CFO of Swissair Group in Switzerland, and she was Group Treasurer of Nestle in Switzerland. She also held positions with LTV Aerospace and Defense and Celanese Chemical Company from 1983 to 1986. Ms. Fouse currently serves on the Board of Dick's Sporting Goods, a leading U.S. retailer of sporting goods and athletic apparel.

Heavy Equipment Company Names Technology Sector Exec to Board

AmeraMex International appointed Marty Tullio to its Board of Directors. Ms. Tullio, a managing partner of McCloud Communications, has more than 15 years of senior management experience in the areas of investor relations and financial communications. Prior to becoming an investor relations professional, she spent fifteen years in sales and marketing within the technology sector with major corporations such as NCR, GTE Telnet, McDonnell Douglas and smaller technology companies such as Time Systems International and Data Point Corporation. Tullio held a variety of positions from sales and middle management to general manager, EVP and VP of sales and marketing.

Former PSINet Exec Joins Board of Biopharmaceutical Company

NewLink Genetics named Lota S. Zoth to its Board of Directors. Ms. Zoth was CFO at MedImmune, at the time the company was sold to AstraZeneca in 2007. Over her 30-year career, she held a number of senior financial positions at MedImmune, and other publicly-traded companies, including Marriott International, PepsiCo, Sodexo (formerly Sodexho Marriott) and PSINet. Ms. Zoth, a certified public accountant, began her career as an auditor at Ernst & Young.

Wayfair Appoints Its First Female Board Member, an online retailer of home furnishings, has appointed Julie M.B. Bradley to the company’s board. Bradley, who is SVP and CFO of TripAdvisor, is Wayfair’s first female director. Prior to TripAdvisor, she worked at Art Technology Group, which was acquired by Oracle in 2010.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
