Enterprise OpenStack Company Piston Cloud Names CEO

Enterprise OpenStack company Piston Cloud Computing named Jim Morrisroe as CEO. Co-founder and former CEO Joshua McKenty will remain at Piston Cloud and take on a new role as CTO. Prior to Piston, Morrisroe served as VP and general manager of open source company Zimbra, leading the team through its spinout from Yahoo and its acquisition and integration by VMware. Morrisroe also served as VP of worldwide sales at Cemaphore Systems.

Savvis Hosting Names President

Savvis has named Jeff Von Deylen as President of the company as Bill Fathers has decided to leave his post after a transition period ending March 2013. Fathers was named Savvis president in early 2011. Von Deylen previously served as SVP of global operations and client services at Savvis. Von Deylen joined Savvis in 2003 as CFO and board member. In 2008, he transitioned from his role as CFO to SVP of global operations and client services at Savvis. Prior to Savvis, Von Deylen held financial and corporate development positions at companies including American Electric Power, GTS Telecommunications, Qwest Communications International and Arthur Andersen.

Codero Hosting Names SVP of Product Development

Web hosting provider Codero Hosting named Chandler Vaughn as SVP of product development. As SVP of product development, Vaughn will be in charge of directing and leading the development, product management, and strategic alliances for Codero. Vaughn most recently served as VP of cloud product development at SunGard, where he led technical design and engineering efforts for the company’s cloud and managed services businesses. He also helped shape the technical strategy for both SunGard’s recovery services and managed services businesses. Vaughn served as the founder and head of the Cloud Computing Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin, a project for which he was eventually named as the inventor on a few pending patents for distributed and cloud computing. Before joining SunGard in early 2010, Vaughn was working with Rackspace during the launch of both the Rackspace Cloud Servers and Cloud Files products lines. He also led the product management and product marketing teams for Rackspace’s managed hosting business through the company’s accelerated growth prior to IPO.

Cloud Hosting Provider FiberCloud Names Three Senior Executives

Cloud hosting provider FiberCloud expanded its executive management team with the addition of VP of sales Brenda Brooks. As VP of sales, Brooks will help to expand FiberCloud’s direct sales team and the company’s growing partner channels. Her career has centered around the technology sector including online marketing, telecommunications and cloud communications. She has previously worked include Matrix Telecommunications, Inter-Tel Technologies/Mitel, and Crexendo Business Solutions.

Panzura Expands Management Team and Board of Directors With Industry Veterans

Panzura, a leading provider of global cloud storage solutions, expanded its executive team and board of directors as company enters the next phase of rapid growth. Marcel Gani joins the Panzura Board of Directors following leadership positions at Juniper Networks and NVIDIA. Michael Morgan joins the team as CFO, while Al Sadler joins as VP of Operations. In the these roles, Morgan and Sadler will build on Panzura's significant market traction and wins at Fortune Global 500 enterprises in the past year.

Marcel Gani brings a wealth of valuable networking and data infrastructure industry experience and expertise to Panzura's board. Gani currently consults with several venture funds to advise early stage high tech companies. Prior to this, Gani held the position of Chief of Staff of Juniper Networks, which he joined as the company's CFO from 1997-2004. He was also responsible for Information Systems and Human Resources. Prior to joining Juniper Networks, Mr. Gani served as VP and CFO of NVIDIA Corporation, Grand Junction Networks, Primary Access Corporation, and NeXT Computer.

With over 20 years of experience in managing all aspects of finance and administration for both private and public technology companies, Michael Morgan has a long history of transforming successful private companies into well-managed publicly traded organizations. Immediately prior to Panzura, Morgan held the CFO position at Model N, where he helped guide the company to profitability and a period of significant growth. As CFO at Skybox Security, Morgan raised several rounds of venture financing and scaled the company's financial systems. Morgan has also served as CFO of BackWeb Technologies, a publicly-traded company. Prior to BackWeb, Morgan led two IPOs including Talarian, which was sold to Tibco Software.

Specializing in the building and managing of high-growth organizations, Al Sadler brings 35 years of experience with Fortune 500 companies and Silicon Valley startups to Panzura as VP of Operations. Formerly VP of Operations at CloudShield Technologies and OpVista, Sadler has also served in executive positions at multiple public and private companies across the enterprise technology landscape, including COO at Trapeze Networks and Alidian Networks.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
