eBay Director Resigns; Joins AOL Board

Dawn G. Lepore, 57, a director of eBay, has resigned from the company’s board. She has been newly elected to AOL’s board. Lepore is CEO at Prosper Marketplace, a peer-to-peer lending marketplace. Formerly, she was CEO and Chairman of, a leading online retailer of health, beauty, and wellness products, until its sale to Walgreens. Prior to that, she held leadership positions at The Charles Schwab Company, like Vice Chairman of technology, operations, administration, strategy and active trader, was CIO, a member of Schwab's executive committee and a trustee of SchwabFunds.

Yahoo! Re-Appoints Cloud Exec; Names Mobile Kingpin

Yahoo! re-appointed Jay Rossiter as EVP, Platforms, who left as SVP, Cloud Platform, earlier this year under CEO Scott Thompson. He had been with Yahoo! since 2008, before which he was with Oracle for fifteen years, most recently being the VP of System Management Products Division. Prior to that, he was Development Manager at 3Com and member of technical staff at Bell Laboratories.

Yahoo! appointed former IntoNow founder and CEO Adam Cahan as SVP of Emerging Products and Technology, to oversee all of Yahoo’s mobile efforts, as well as its Flickr photo sharing service. Yahoo purchased IntoNow in 2011. He also founded Auditude, acquired by Adobe. He has served as EVP, Strategy and Business Operations at MTV, oversaw Business Operations at Google, was an Associate Principal at McKinsey, was Digital Director at NBCUniversal, and was Wildlife Filmmaker for National Geographic Television.

Groupon Promotes Tech and Retail Vet as COO

Groupon promoted SVP, Global Sales and Operations, Kal Raman, 44, as COO. Raman joined the company earlier this year. Before joining Groupon, Raman worked as VP of Global Fulfillment at eBay. Before that, he served as CEO of GlobalScholar, a leader in enterprise software to K-12 public schools. Prior to GlobalScholar, he was SVP at Amazon, responsible for driving its global non-media business for retailers and sellers. Before joining Amazon, Raman was CEO of where he joined as CIO. He also held numerous management roles at Wal-Mart.

Early Advocate of Enterprise Risk Management Joins E*TRADE Board

E*TRADE appoints James Lam to the Company's Board of Directors. Mr. Lam is currently president of James Lam & Associates, a consultancy singularly focused on risk management. He previously served as founder and president of ERisk, Chief Risk Officer of Fidelity Investments, and Chief Risk Officer of GE Capital Markets Services.

Zynga’s Executive Reshuffle Continues

Zynga's finance chief David Wehner, 43, is leaving the troubled online game company to join Facebook as VP of corporate finance and business planning. Chief Accounting Officer, Mark Vranesh, 45, is replacing Wehner as CFO, returning to the post he held from 2008 to 2010, while Zynga was still a private company. Before joining Zynga, Mr. Vranesh served as the VP of finance and administration and corporate controller of Fortinet, and held finance roles of increasing responsibility, including VP of finance, at, an online technology support company.

David Ko, who was previously Chief Mobile Officer, is now COO. Prior to joining Zynga in 2010, Ko was SVP of Yahoo!'s audience, mobile and local businesses and also served as VP for Yahoo!’s mobile business in Asia Pacific.

Barry Cottle, who came to Zynga from Electronic Arts, is now Chief Revenue Officer. He was previously EVP of business and corporate development. Previously, he held executive roles at The Walt Disney Company, Quickoffice and Palm Computing.

Steven Chiang, previously EVP of games, has been appointed President of games. Before joining Zynga, he was SVP and group general manager for EA Sports at Electronic Arts.

Zynga’s Treasurer Mike Gupta has been named Twitter’s VP of corporate finance and treasurer. He is a former Yahoo! executive who joined Zynga in 2011.

OpenTable adds Glassdoor CEO to board

OpenTable, the online restaurant reservation network, elected Robert Hohman to serve as a director of the Company. He is a co-founder of Glassdoor, an online provider of job and career information, and has served as its CEO since 2007.  Prior to that, he served as the President of Hotwire, a leading discount travel site and division of Expedia, President of Classic Custom Vacation at Expedia, and SVP of Cruise and Package at Expedia.

GCA CEO Changes

Global Cash Access’ CEO Scott Betts, 58, will be retiring, but will remain a Board member. David Lopez, 38, President of the Company, will assume the role of CEO upon Mr. Betts' retirement. Mr. Lopez has been President of GCA since June 2012. He has extensive background in the gaming industry, joining GCA from his previous position of COO for Shuffle Master. Mr. Lopez spent the past 14 years with Shuffle Master, holding various positions within the organization, as well as serving as a member of its Board.

China Based E-Commerce Company Hires Long-Time Tech Industry Finance Personnel as CFO

E-Commerce China Dangdang named Jun Zou as CFO of Dangdang. Prior to joining Dangdang, he has been CFO and principal accounting officer for Xunlei, a Chinese internet platform. Prior, he served as the CFO, treasurer, board secretary, and VP of Strategy for NASDAQ-listed China BAK Battery, CFO of GCL Silicon in Hong Kong, CFO for the global technical services business unit and head of global customer financing and treasury at Huawei Technologies. He has served in progressive managerial roles in treasury, customer finance, strategic planning and eventually global controller for the managed services business unit at Ericsson in the United States and Sweden. Earlier in his career, he worked for several top American. and Japanese banks in China and the United States.

Orbitz Worldwide Hires CFO from Sara Lee

Online travel company Orbitz Worldwide named Mitch Marcus, 49, as the company's CFO. David Belmont, who has served as interim CFO since June 2012, will return to his position as group VP, financial planning and analysis. Mitch most recently served as SVP Treasurer and SVP Corporate Development at Sara Lee. Prior to Sara Lee, Mitch had a investment banking career spending time at Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs and William Blair. He started his career as a staff accountant at Arthur Andersen, and after obtaining a law degree, was a corporate attorney at Dewey Ballantine.

e-Commerce and Digital Marketing Company Names Southeast Territory VP

Rob Milstead joined Acquity Group as VP and Group Client Partner for the Southeast Territory to direct development in this new location. He brings over 15 years' experience in digital marketing and eCommerce strategy and execution, most recently as VP at Sapient Corporation, where he managed business in the southeast U.S. Prior to that, Milstead held a variety of senior-level marketing and management roles in the technology and professional services sectors.

BillMyParents Names Finance Business Leader to Board

BillMyParents, the online retail payment platform, named Brian Thompson to its Board of Directors. He is currently SVP of Equity Dynamics, a financial consulting entity established by renowned business leader and philanthropist John Pappajohn. Prior, he served as CFO and Chief Administrative Officer for Kum & Go, one of the largest convenience store chains in the U.S. He has served as President and CFO of Astracon, a provider of connectivity intelligence software to communications service companies. As a partner and CFO for Edgewater Private Equity Funds from he completed over 15 private equity transactions with capital in excess of $300 million.

SED International Names New CEO

SED International, the online as well as offline distributor of computer hardware, consumer electronics, cellular and small appliance products, appointed Robert G. (Bob) O'Malley as President and CEO and a member of the Board. He replaces Jonathan Elster who has served as President and CEO since 2009. Mr. O'Malley was the President and CEO of both Immersion, a leading provider of haptics applications, and InFocu, a global manufacturer of data and video imaging products. He served as SVP, US Marketing and Product Management for TechData and spent 19 years with IBM in a variety of executive roles. Mr. O'Malley has also served as the Chairman of CompTIA, the IT Channel Association supporting channel solution providers, distributors and manufacturers.

IZEA Creates COO Role

IZEA, the social media marketplace that offers sponsored blog posts, sponsored tweets and display advertising, created the role of COO to further its commitment to business execution. The company has appointed Ryan Schram to this position, and also joins IZEA's Board of Directors. Schram has over 15 years of diverse experience in the interactive marketing industry. Prior to joining IZEA in 2011 as CMO, he was Group VP at ePrize, a prominent digital engagement agency, which was acquired by private equity firm Catteron Partners. Previous to ePrize, Schram held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility at CBS/Westwood One and Clear Channel Interactive.

ADTECH Names Head of U.S. Sales

ADTECH, an international provider of ad serving solutions and a division of the Group, has appointed Will Schmahl as the company's new head of sales for ADTECH's U.S. operations. He has been with ADTECH since 2007. Prior to joining ADTECH, Schmahl held sales positions in the display-advertising technology landscape. Schmahl has extensive knowledge and experience with ad networks and exchanges and online advertising pertaining to publishers and agencies.

Wayfair Appoints Its First Female Board Member, an online retailer of home furnishings, has appointed Julie M.B. Bradley to the company’s board. Bradley, who is SVP and CFO of TripAdvisor, is Wayfair’s first female director. Prior to TripAdvisor, she worked at Art Technology Group, which was acquired by Oracle in 2010.

BlogFrog Names Digital Media Exec as Channel Biz Head

BlogFrog, the influencer marketing platform company, appointed Jennifer Swartley as Head of Channel Business Development. Jennifer had been Executive Director of Digital Marketing at Meredith Corporation. Swartley held positions as senior executive director of integrated sales and marketing at RDA Food and Entertaining, creative marketing director at Conde Nast Traveler, and senior account director at iCrossing. CasaHop Co-Founder and President Leaves

Florent Peyre, the co-founder and president of CasaHop, a home-swapping site, has left the company. Peyre founded the company along with Paul Berry, the former CTO of Huffington Post. Prior to joining CasaHop, Peyre was the VP of Business Development and Strategy at Gilt City, Gilt Groupe’s daily deals business.

Brand Affinity Technologies Taps Disney Exec For Board 

Brand Affinity Technologies, the online celebrity endorsements startup, has tapped Al Weiss, the former President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, to its board. Weiss retired from Disney in 2011. Brand Affinity Technologies runs such sites as Fantapper, and also recently acquired the fan photography business of Printroom.

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.
