Allscripts Hires CFO From Aviation Support Company

Allscripts named Richard J. Poulton, 47, as CFO. Poulton joins Allscripts from AAR Corporation, a provider of diverse products and services to the worldwide commercial aviation and government/defense industries, where he served as CFO and Treasurer. Prior to AAR, Poulton spent more than 10 years at UAL Corporation in a variety of financial and business development roles including SVP of business development as well as President and CFO of the company's client focused Loyalty Services subsidiary.

Medidata Solutions Hires HR Head from Rovi Corporation

Medidata Solutions, the clinical technology solutions company, named Eileen Schloss, a human resources and business administration executive with more than 25 years of experience and executive leadership, as EVP of human resources. Before joining Medidata, Eileen spent five years as EVP of human resources at Rovi Corporation, a digital media entertainment software company. Previously, Eileen served as VP of administration at Caspian Networks. Over the course of her career, Eileen has also held a range of executive positions at Exodus Communications, AppGenesys, Apple, Charles Schwab, and Tandem Computers.

WebMD Names Board Member and Senior Operations Exec

WebMD appointed Thomas J. Coleman, Coleman is a co-Founder and co-President of Kensico Capital Management to the Board. The company also named John Kritzmacher as SVP Business Operations, Organizational Planning and Structure. Prior to joining WebMD, John was EVP and CFO of Global Crossing until its acquisition by Level 3 Communications. Before working at Global Crossing, John was COO, Services for Alcatel-Lucent, and had been CFO at Lucent prior to the merger with Alcatel.

Arrhythmia Research Technology Appoints iCEO

Computerized medical instruments company Arrhythmia Research Technology appointed Michael S. Gunter, a director, as interim CEO upon the resignation of James E. Rouse as the Company's CEO and as a member of its Board. Gunter spent previous eight years at Primo Water, most recently as SVP.

CompuMed Elects CEO to Board; Names President

CompuMed, the medical computing, medical imaging, telecommunications and networking technologies company appointed its CEO Maurizio Vecchione, 48, since 2007, to the Board of Directors. Mr. Vecchione served previously as president and CEO of Trestle Holdings, a medical imaging and digital pathology company.

The company also named W. Scott Rombach as the Company's President. He has served on CompuMed's Board since 2011. As a sales executive with PeopleSoft, he specialized in executing large software and services deals. Prior to its acquisition by Oracle, PeopleSoft was the global leader in providing enterprise human resources and payroll software solutions. Mr. Rombach also has experience in a start-up environment.

Pulse Systems Founders Leave

The founders of Pulse Systems, a health care software and services provider, have resigned from the company to pursue other interests. CEO Basil Hourani and chairman and CTO Alif Hourani founded Pulse Systems in 1998 and sold it to Cegedim, a French technology company, in 2010. They remained in leadership positions at Pulse Systems until now.

Siemens Healthcare Exec Named to InTouch’s Board

Telemedicine equipment developer InTouch Health named John Glaser, Ph.D., to its board. Glaser is CEO of the Health Services Business Unit of Siemens Healthcare, and also has served at Partners HealthCare and at the Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Value Options Promotes IT VP to CIO

Shaun Costello, VP of IT hosting services at Value Options, a provider of online behavioral health and wellness services, has been named CIO of the company. Prior to his tenure at ValueOptions he spent time at Charles E. Smith Companies, Sato Travel and Intelligent Electronics. Before his civilian career, he served in the United States Marine Corps.

Markle Foundation Appoints New Board Member

Gilman Louie, a partner at Alsop Louie Partners, a venture capitalist firm, has been appointed to the board of directors at the Markle Foundation, a not-for-profit organization with interests in health IT.

Awarepoint Appoints New Director

Keith Pitts, vice chair of Vanguard Health Systems, a network of acute care specialty hospitals in Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan and Texas, has been appointed to the board of directors of Awarepoint, a provider of real-time location system tools and work flow software for the health care industry.

Apprio Hires CMIO

H. Allen Dobbs, former Chief Medical Officer at Harris Healthcare Solutions, has been named Chief Medical Information Officer at Apprio, a provider of technology tools for the health, defense and homeland security markets.

Castlight Health Appoints CFO to Support Strong Company Growth

John Doyle, former COO for biotechnology company Achaogen, has been named CFO of Castlight Health, a health benefits software company. Prior to that, he was VP of finance and corporate planning at Genentech. Prior to Genentech, he was CFO and SVP of corporate development at Renovis, a biotech company.

digiChart Appoints New Chair

Harry Jacobson, chair of MedCare Investment Funds and founder and managing director of TriStar Technology Ventures, has been appointed chair for digiChart, a provider of EHR and practice management systems for OB-GYN practices. Dr. Jacobson replaces digiChart’s former chairman, G. William Bates, M.D., M.B.A., who has been named chairman emeritus of the company. The former vice chancellor for health affairs at Vanderbilt University and CEO of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Dr. Jacobson is a nationally renowned healthcare investor and entrepreneur, having founded or co-founded several companies.

Former Allina CEO named Scottsdale Institute Chairman

Donald Wegmiller, chair of C-Suite Resources, a health care business intelligence firm, and chair emeritus of Integrated Healthcare Strategies, an executive compensation and physician compensation organization, has been named chair of the board at Scottsdale Institute, an association of health care delivery systems focused on using IT to improve quality. Mr. Wegmiller co-founded Scottsdale Institute and has served for nearly two decades as Vice Chairman. A renowned healthcare executive in his own right, he served as CEO of Allina Health System in Minneapolis and chairman of the American Hospital Association.

John Evans, former president of the consulting firm Strategic Alliance Advisors, has been named president and CEO of Vermont Information Technology Leaders. As president of Strategic Alliance Advisors, Evans provided leadership for statewide HIE initiatives in Arkansas, Kansas, Michigan, and New Hampshire, as well as regional HIE projects in New York and northern Michigan. Before starting his consulting firm, Evans was deeply involved in Vermont’s efforts to develop a statewide health information exchange, as SVP and CTO at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Nick Willocks, former president of CombineMED, a joint venture between the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and CombineNet, and a former employee at McKinsey, a management consulting firm, has been named president of Symphony, a health IT services provider.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.
