Xerox’s Chair and CEO is new Board Member of Exxon Mobil

Exxon Mobil appointed Xerox’s Chair and CEO Ursula M. Burns, 54, to its Board of Directors. Ms. Burns was named president of Xerox and elected to the company's board in 2007. She was named CEO in 2009 and became chairman in 2010. She serves on the board of the American Express and provides leadership counsel to numerous community, educational and non-profit organizations including FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), National Academy Foundation, MIT and the U.S. Olympic Committee, among others. She is a founding board director of Change the Equation, which focuses on improving the U.S. education system in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In 2010, she was appointed vice chair of the President's Export Council.

eBay Director Resigns; Joins AOL Board

Dawn G. Lepore, 57, a director of eBay, has resigned from the company’s board. She has been newly elected to AOL’s board. Lepore is CEO at Prosper Marketplace, a peer-to-peer lending marketplace. Formerly, she was CEO and Chairman of, a leading online retailer of health, beauty, and wellness products, until its sale to Walgreens. Prior to that, she held leadership positions at The Charles Schwab Company, like Vice Chairman of technology, operations, administration, strategy and active trader, was CIO, a member of Schwab's executive committee and a trustee of SchwabFunds.

Kellogg Names International Paper Veteran as Director

Kellogg Company appointed Mary A. Laschinger, 51, to its Board of Directors. Mary is SVP of International Paper, and President of International Paper's xpedx distribution business.  She previously served as president – IP EMEA and Russia, joining International Paper in 1992.

Discount Retailer Dollar General Names Former WebMD Exec as Director

Dollar General elected Pat Fili-Krushel to its board. Fili-Krushel assumed the role of chairman of NBCUniversal News Group, a division of NBCUniversal Media, composed of NBC News, CNBC, MSNBC and the Weather Channel in earlier this year. She served previously as EVP of NBCUniversal with a broad portfolio of functions reporting to her, including operations and technical services, business strategy, human resources and legal. Prior to NBCUniversal, she was EVP of administration at Time Warner,  CEO of WebMD, president of the ABC Television Network, and president of ABC Daytime.

Motorola Solutions Elects ComED CEO to Board

Motorola Solutions elects Anne R. Pramaggiore, president and CEO of the largest electric utility in Illinois, Commonwealth Edison, to baord. Pramaggiore served as Commonwealth Edison 's COO previously, being with the Chicago-based company since 1998 in various executive roles including overseeing customer operations and regulatory and external affairs. Prior to that, she was an attorney with McDermott, Will & Emery for eight years.

Banking and Finance Policy Advisor Joins Host Hotels & Resorts’ Board

Host Hotels & Resorts elected Sheila C. Bair, 58, to its Board. Ms. Bair has an extensive background in banking and finance and is the former Chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.  She was the Dean's Professor of Financial Regulatory Policy for the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.  She also served as Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, SVP for Government Relations of the NYSE, Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and as counsel to Kansas Republican Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole.  She continues her work on financial policy issues as a senior advisor to the Pew Charitable Trusts and as chair of the Systemic Risk Council, a public interest group which monitors progress on the implementation of financial reforms.

Former Microsoft Corporate VP joins Michael Kors’ Board

Michael Kors Holdings, the designer company, appointed Judy Gibbons, 55, a former Corporate VP at Microsoft, to its Board. She has over 25 years experience in software, Internet, digital media, e-commerce and mobile technologies. From 2005 until 2010, she was employed by Accel Partners in Europe as a venture partner and board member, focusing primarily on early stage equity investments across mobile applications, digital advertising, e-commerce and social media. Prior to joining Accel Partners, Judy was Corporate VP at Microsoft where she spent ten years in international leadership roles in the company's Internet division. Previously she has held senior positions at Apple and HP. Ms. Gibbons currently serves as a non-executive director of Hammerson and Guardian Media Group. She is also a director of Virgin Money Giving, a not-for-profit company within the Virgin group.

Convergys Names President, CEO and Board Member

Convergys appointed Andrea Ayers, 48, as president and CEO, and a member of the board of directors. Ms. Ayers joined Convergys in 1990 and has served in a variety of a leadership positions, most recently as president and COO. She also served as President, Customer Management, President, Relationship Technology Management, and President, Government and New Markets, for the company.

DreamWorks Animation Names New Chairman

DreamWorks Animation’s Chairman Roger Enrico, 67, resigns. The company has named fellow Board member Mellody Hobson, 43, as the new Chairman of the Board. Mr. Enrico has served as Chairman of DreamWorks Animation since its inception as a public company in 2004. Mr. Enrico formerly served as Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, where he spent 31 years.

Ms. Hobson has served as the president of Ariel Investments, a Chicago-based investment management firm, since 2004. She also has served as president and a director of its sole managing member, Ariel Capital Management Holdings. She is also the president of Ariel Investment Trust, an open-end management investment company, and has served as a trustee and as chairman of the board of trustees. She previously served as SVP and director of marketing, and VP of marketing at Ariel Capital Management.

Children's Place Retail Stores Elects Insurance Industry Specialist to Board

Children's Place Retail Stores appointed Susan Patricia Griffith, 48, as a director. She currently holds the position of Claims Group President of Progressive Corporation, a property and casualty insurance company, with responsibility for the direct management of the claims organization, overseeing more than 12,000 employees across the US. Ms. Griffith joined Progressive in 1988 and held positions of increasing responsibility, including six years as CHRO, prior to her appointment in 2008 as Claims Group President.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
