Xerox’s Chair and CEO is new Board Member of Exxon Mobil

Exxon Mobil appointed Xerox’s Chair and CEO Ursula M. Burns, 54, to its Board of Directors. Ms. Burns was named president of Xerox and elected to the company's board in 2007. She was named CEO in 2009 and became chairman in 2010. She serves on the board of the American Express and provides leadership counsel to numerous community, educational and non-profit organizations including FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), National Academy Foundation, MIT and the U.S. Olympic Committee, among others. She is a founding board director of Change the Equation, which focuses on improving the U.S. education system in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In 2010, she was appointed vice chair of the President's Export Council.

Discount Retailer Dollar General Names Former WebMD Exec as Director

Dollar General elected Pat Fili-Krushel to its board. Fili-Krushel assumed the role of chairman of NBCUniversal News Group, a division of NBCUniversal Media, composed of NBC News, CNBC, MSNBC and the Weather Channel in earlier this year. She served previously as EVP of NBCUniversal with a broad portfolio of functions reporting to her, including operations and technical services, business strategy, human resources and legal. Prior to NBCUniversal, she was EVP of administration at Time Warner,  CEO of WebMD, president of the ABC Television Network, and president of ABC Daytime.

Former Microsoft Corporate VP joins Michael Kors’ Board

Michael Kors Holdings, the designer company, appointed Judy Gibbons, 55, a former Corporate VP at Microsoft, to its Board. She has over 25 years experience in software, Internet, digital media, e-commerce and mobile technologies. From 2005 until 2010, she was employed by Accel Partners in Europe as a venture partner and board member, focusing primarily on early stage equity investments across mobile applications, digital advertising, e-commerce and social media. Prior to joining Accel Partners, Judy was Corporate VP at Microsoft where she spent ten years in international leadership roles in the company's Internet division. Previously she has held senior positions at Apple and HP. Ms. Gibbons currently serves as a non-executive director of Hammerson and Guardian Media Group. She is also a director of Virgin Money Giving, a not-for-profit company within the Virgin group.

Microsoft Health Solutions Exec Named to Laboratory Corporation of America’s Board

Clinical laboratory company, Laboratory Corporation of America appointed Peter M. Neupert, 56, as Director. He is an operating partner of Health Evolution Partners; a health only, middle market PE firm. Prior to that, he served as Corporate VP of the Microsoft Health Solutions Group and President and CEO of Mr. Neupert earlier served on the President's IT Advisory Committee. He is a Trustee of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and was an active member of the Institute of Medicine's Roundtable on Value and Science-Driven Healthcare.

Standard Motor Products Names Software Industry Exec to Board

Standard Motor Products, the manufacturer and distributor of replacement parts for motor vehicles, named Alisa C. Norris, 42, as independent director. Ms. Norris currently serves as the Chief People Officer and was a founding member of Opera Solutions, the predictive analytics company. She is founder and former SVP of Zeborg, a venture-backed procurement software solutions company, and served as a strategy consultant for AT Kearney and Mitchell Madison Group.

Former AppOne CFO Named Board Member of Duma Energy

Duma Energy, the natural resource exploration and production company, named S. Chris Herndon as director of the Company. He is a Partner of Cyrus Partners, an investment company focusing on the energy, healthcare, and real estate sectors. Mr. Herndon served as CFO and Partner of AppOne, a financial technology company designed to serve the auto finance industry. He was CEO and Partner of The Mattress Firm, a Registered Investment Advisor with Malachi Financial Services, CFO and Controller of Duer Wagner and Co., an oil and gas operator. He served as a Public Accountant with Price Waterhouse.

HP Exec Named to RS&H Board

RS&H, one of the nation's leading facilities and infrastructure consulting firms, elected Maria Cino as Director. Currently, she is serving as VP for Americas and US Government Relations for HP. She has served as acting U.S. Secretary of Transportation under President George W. Bush. It was under the Bush Administration that Ms. Cino also served as Deputy Secretary to the Department of Transportation and its COO. She also served President Bush as Assistant Director and Director General of the US Foreign Commercial Service at the US Department of Commerce.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
