IBM Chairman to Retire; CEO to add Chairman’s Role

IBM President and CEO Ginni Rometty, 55, is taking on the added role of chairman, as Sam Palmisano, 61, prepares to retire. Palmisano will become a senior adviser until he retires at the end of the year. Palmisano served as CEO between 2002 and 2012, and has been Chairman since 2003.

Rometty took the reins at IBM in January, becoming the company’s ninth CEO and its first female leader. Previously, she was SVP of IBM Global Business Services. In that role, she led the successful integration of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting—the largest acquisition in professional services history, building a global team of more than 100,000 business consultants and services experts. She has also served as General Manager of IBM Global Services, Americas, and of IBM's Global Insurance and Financial Services Sector. She joined IBM in 1981 as a Systems Engineer.

Internet Advertising Expert Joins e-Payment Solutions Company’s Board

VeriFone Systems appointed Wenda Harris Millard, 57, president and COO of MediaLink to its Board of Directors. One of the early pioneers of internet advertising, Millard was a key driver at DoubleClick, Ziff Davis, Yahoo!, and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia before assuming her current role with MediaLink, an advisory firm that provides critical counsel and strategic direction to the media, marketing, advertising, entertainment and technology industries. Millard has served on multiple boards, including True North, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Context Web and, currently, Millennial Media. She has also been chairman of the Internet Advertising Bureau and a board member of the James Beard Foundation.

iGATE Appoints Seasoned International Business Leader to Board

Application development company iGATE named Naomi O. Seligman, 74, a seasoned international business leader with significant innovation experience to its Board. She has been a senior partner at Ostriker von Simson, a consulting firm focusing on IT, since 1999. Previously, Ms. Seligman served as a co-founder and senior partner of the Research Board, a private sector institution sponsored by one hundred CIOs from major corporations. She presently serves on the boards of Oracle, Akamai, Dun & Bradstreet. She also previously served as a director of Sun Microsystems, prior to its acquisition by Oracle.

Blackbaud New Director is Non-Profit Sector Service Leader

Blackbaud, the fund-raising software provider to nonprofit industry, appointed Joyce Nelson, former President and CEO of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), to its Board of Directors. Nelson was with NMSS for 28 years, serving as CEO for the last seven years until she recently retired in 2011. Nelson is a graduate of North Park University in Chicago where she was recognized for her accomplishments with the awarding of an honorary doctorate in 2006. She also received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012. She is a recipient of the Brotherhood Award in Media from the National Conference of Christians and Jews, was named Community Service Leader of the Year in 2008 by Paul Hastings, and received the Honor Award in 2009 from the Invisible Disabilities Advocates. She has served on the boards of the MS International Federation and the North Park University School of Non-Profit Management.

Procera Networks Adds Retired Finance Professional to Board

Procera Networks, a networking equipment company, appointed Elizabeth J. Huebner, 54, as a director. She retired from a 26-year career in the finance sector in 2006. Ms. Huebner was CFO from 2000 to 2006 at Getty Images, a provider of visual content and rights services. Prior to her service at Getty Images, she was CFO of Primus Knowledge Solutions, a software company specializing in knowledge management and self-service.

Mindpix Sees Board Changes

Internet and entertainment content company Mindpix’s Chairman Roxanna Weber and COO and Director Mary Waldman have resigned. The company appointed Andrea P. Diaz to serve as Chief Creative Officer and a Director on their Board. Ms. Diaz, a European native, has worked with branding public and private corporations such as Morgans Hotel Group, Menin Hotels, Dolce&Gabbana, Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation (DCOTA), iStar Residential, and Chanel. Her innovative expertise is an asset to ensuring that MPIX develops a tailored brand identity and brand equity. She will work directly with Company's Directors and Officers to drive creative development, establishing the MPIX brand, and ensuring that the MPIX brand personality is carried throughout all creative projects.

President's Advisory Council Member and Well-Known VC joins Board of Search Optimization SaaS Firm

RAMP, the next generation search and video experience company, raised a financing led by StarVest Partners. Deborah Farrington, 61, Co-Founder and General Partner at StarVest will join the RAMP Board of Directors. Prior to founding StarVest, Ms. Farrington held positions including: President and CEO of Victory Ventures, a PE investment firm where she also served as chairman of Staffing Resources. Ms. Farrington currently sits on the Boards of NetSuite, where she is lead director, Xignite, Host Analytics, and PivotLink on behalf of StarVest. She is also a member of the President's Advisory Council and investment committee of Smith College; a board member of the Harvard Business School Club of New York City; a member of The Committee of 200 and the Economic Club of New York; and a board member of Opportunity International, a leading international microfinance organization.

Former Cisco and HP Exec Named to ApeniMED’s Board

ApeniMED, a leader in healthcare interoperability and Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN) connectivity, appoints Barbara Stinnett to its Board of Directors. Stinnett will provide her expertise to help grow the financial and clinical product sales at ApeniMED as well as advise on fundraising, strategic acquisitions, and investor relations. Stinnett brings over 30 years of successful experience leading, creating, and developing profitable businesses. In addition to her role on the ApeniMED Board of Directors, Stinnett is currently the CEO and Managing Partner of the Timmaron Group, an organization serving CEOs, boards, and investors. Previously, she held leadership positions at Cisco Systems, SumTotal, I2 Technologies, and HP. She also serves on the boards of Altus365, Aidmatrix, and the Norris Institute, part of the University of St. Thomas, and is a mentor with the Minnesota Emerging Software Association.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
