McAfee Promotes Field Engineering and Advanced Technology Head to CTO
McAfee promoted Mike Fey to Worldwide CTO from Head of Field Engineering and Advanced Technology organizations. Fey joined McAfee in 2007, having previously served in leadership positions at several technology companies like Worldwide VP of Presales at Opsware, Area Presales Director at Mercury, SE Manager at Mercury, Systems Engineer at Mercury and Developer at Lockheed Martin. He is the lead author of "Security Battleground: an Executive Field Manual," which provides guidance to executives who find themselves shouldering oversight responsibility for information security.
News Corp Names CTO; Chief Digital Officer Leaves
News Corp promoted News International (UK) CIO Paul Cheesbrough to drive its technology initiatives and reorganisation as CTO, as it begins separating corporate IT systems. Cheesbrough has gained respect for building out a product-centric technology team with some former Apple and Google staff at the UK news publisher since joining in 2010 from The Telegraph. He has also helped implement paid content initiatives at The Times and Sunday Times, and transitioned many News International systems to Google Apps.
Jonathan Miller, the Company's Chief Digital Officer since 2009, is leaving. He will serve as an outside advisor to News Corporation on digital issues through fall 2013. During his tenure, he revamped News Corporation's digital strategy as the Company transitioned away from standalone owned-and-operated web properties and refocused on digital content distribution and the monetization of its existing brands on emerging platforms.
Accenture Exec to lead IT Infrastructure at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America
Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America named Tom Mundt as the new VP of Infrastructure in the IT division. Before joining Allianz Life, Mundt was a senior executive with Accenture in Minneapolis, for eight years where he directed the IT service delivery center operations in multiple locations around the United States and managed 500 technology professionals. Prior to his tenure at Accenture, Mundt was a senior executive for four years with Best Buy, where he led more than 450 IT professionals, contractors, and third-party service providers. Mundt also held IT roles at American Express Financial Advisors, which is currently known as Ameriprise Financial, where he worked for 14 years.

Xerox Hires Former Northrop Grumman Exec as CISO
Xerox named Mark Leary as Chief Information Security Officer. Leary will be responsible for the information security and governance strategy to protect Xerox intellectual property, assets and client information. Leary joins Xerox from TASC, where he was VP and Chief Information Security Officer. Previously, he was director and deputy Chief Information Security Officer for Northrop Grumman, and earlier held positions in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps and the Special Operations Forces.

AECOM Technology, a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients, appointed Thomas Peck as SVP and CIO. Prior to joining AECOM, Peck served as CIO at Levi Strauss & Company. UTi Worldwide Names New CIO
Supply chain management company UTi Worldwide named Ronald W. Berger, SVP, Global Operating Processes, its new CIO. Berger, who will retain his current title, replaces Ronald S. Glickman who will partner with Berger during a transition period. Glickman will then pursue opportunities outside UTi, the company said. Prior to joining UTi in 2009, Berger was CIO at FedEx Trade Networks. He has also held various executive positions at UPS Supply Chain Solutions and Emery/Menlo Worldwide.

Supervalu Promotes VP and former Best Buy Exec as CIO
Supervalu has named Kathy Persian as CIO. Persian replaces Wayne Shurts, Supervalu’s CIO since 2010, who made the decision to accept a position at another company. Since joining Supervalu in 2010, Persian has held executive roles as VP for retail and merchandising systems and VP for planning, analysis and business process. Persian directed business process and supply chain systems at Best Buy for almost six years prior to joining Supervalu. Before Best Buy, Persian was a partner at Accenture.

Univision named Christopher Furst to the newly created position of EVP and CIO. Mr. Furst will bring more than 15 years of experience in the media industry to Univision. Since 2007 Furst has served as EVP & CIO at NBC Universal, where he was responsible for global applications, infrastructure and IT operations supporting the company’s worldwide media portfolio. Prior to that role he held the position of SVP & CIO for NBC Universal’s global enterprise systems group. Before joining NBC Universal, Furst was a Partner with Navint Consulting, where he was responsible for the media & entertainment practice and its clients. Terence has held leadership and executive positions at an e-commerce startup company, Visa and PayPal. Virginia Tech Names CIO
Scott F. Midkiff, professor and head of the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, will become the university’s VP for IT and CIO. He was appointed head of the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2009, one of Virginia Tech’s larger units with 600 undergraduates, 400 graduate students, and more than $29 million in externally funded research. Midkiff was on special assignment as a program director at the National Science Foundation (NSF) before returning to Virginia Tech as department head. Early in his career he worked at the legendary Bell Laboratories and was a visiting research associate at Carnegie Mellon University.
