Qualcomm Appoints Biomedical and Energy Research Heavyweight to Board

Qualcomm, the digital wireless telecom products company, elected Susan Hockfield, Ph.D., 60, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Hockfield served as President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) until July 2012, where she also holds a faculty appointment as Professor of Neuroscience. The first woman and the first life scientist to lead MIT, Dr. Hockfield helped the university break new ground across a range of disciplines. Under her leadership, the university launched the MIT Energy Initiative in 2006, known as MITEI, a $350 million effort to accelerate research, policy and education to achieve a clean energy future.

Financial Technology Company names Brokerage Industry Professional to Board

TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation appointed Kerry Peacock to its Board of Directors. Kerry, who joined TD Bank in 1981, is EVP of TD Waterhouse Discount Brokerage, leading the global direct investing business of TD Bank Group. She also serves as a board member for Service Ontario.

Banking Industry Heavyweight appointed as Director by Payment Processing Technology Company 

Jack Henry & Associates, the data and payment processing technology and software company, named Jacqueline R. Fiegel, 58, to its Board of Directors as an Independent Director. Ms. Fiegel is SEVP and COO of Oklahoma-based Coppermark Bank which she joined in 1976. She currently is a member of the board of Coppermark Bank and also serves as director and treasurer of both Coppermark Bancshares and affiliate Coppermark Card Services. She has served on the Oklahoma City Branch Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and currently serves on several business and civic boards including the Economic Club of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University Alumni Association, and the YWCA, Oklahoma City. In 2008, she was named one of the U.S. Banker 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking. She received the Servant Leader Award from Oklahoma City University and the Alpha Phi Panhellenic Woman of the Year, and was named to the Circle of Excellence as a Journal Record Woman of the Year – 50 Making A Difference. 

Google and eBay Exec named to Data Integration Software Company Board 

Informatica, the enterprise data integration and data quality software company, appointed Amy Chang to its Board of Directors. Ms. Chang has been the global head of product, ads measurement and reporting for Google since 2010. Ms. Chang joined Google in 2005, and has served in various management positions including director of product management, group product manager, senior product manager and product manager. Prior to joining Google, she was Product Manager - User Acquistion at eBay and Associate and Business Analyst at McKinsey. 

Former Yahoo Exec named to Zynga’s Board

Zynga named former Yahoo executive Ellen Siminoff, 44, to its board of directors. Siminoff is currently CEO of Shmoop University, an educational publishing company which aims to reduce the friction in learning. She also currently serves on the board of Journal Communications, Mozilla Corporation, Solarwinds, and U.S. Auto Parts Network. Prior to joining Shmoop University, she served as President and CEO of Efficient Frontier, a provider of Search Engine Marketing management services. Siminoff was a founding executive at Yahoo! were she held a variety of roles in business and corporate development, culminating with overseeing Yahoo!’s entertainment and small business division.

Digital Imaging and Software Company appoints former Kellogg and Lucent CIO to board 

Teledyne Technologies appointed Ruth E. Bruch, 58, former SVP and CIO of Kellogg, to its Board of Directors. Previously she served as SVP & CIO at Lucent Technologies, VP & CIO at Visteon Automotive Systems, President & COO at, VP & CIO at Union Carbide, Principal Advisor at JGA Consulting, Sr. Director, IT Strategy at Continental Bank, Sr. Director, IT Strategy at First Bank Systems, and Controller at Davenport Bank & Trust. 

Health IT Company Appoints Well-Known Politician to Board 

eHealth, appointed the Honorable Ellen O'Kane Tauscher, 60, to its Board of Directors. Ms. Tauscher served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 10th Congressional District. While a member of Congress, she served on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and most recently as Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces. She served as Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs, when she retired from government. Since returning to the private sector earlier in 2012, she has provided advice to the State Department on arms control, missile defense and civil nuclear cooperation and joined the board of directors of Invacare Corporation. Prior to serving in Congress, she worked in investment banking and the financial industry in various roles for Bache Halsey Stuart Shields, Bear Stearns, Drexel Burnham Lambert and as an officer of the American Stock Exchange. 

Star Tech Analyst Joins DocuSign’s Board 

DocuSign, the eSignature transaction management company, appointed Mary Meeker, 53, to its Board of Directors. Mary is a General Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Mary had previously been a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. Over the years, Morgan Stanley published similar landmark reports led by Meeker on online advertising, e-commerce, evolution of search, the Internet in China, and the mobile Internet. In 2004, Morgan Stanley (with Meeker as research analyst) served as lead manager for the IPO of Google. Meeker and Chris DePuy at Morgan Stanley, published "The Internet Report," a landmark Morgan Stanley industry report which became known as "the bible" for investors in the dot com boom and went into popular circulation - as a book, and on the web. Meeker is often credited for her comprehensive, rapid fire, annual Internet industry overviews at the Web 2.0 conferences. Meeker was named "one of the ten smartest people in tech" by Fortune magazine in 2010.

Online Transportation Management Company appoints Academician to board, the online transportation management company, appointed Neeli Bendapudi, 48, Dean of the University of Kansas School of Business, to its Board of Directors. She previously served as a professor of marketing at The Ohio State University and as EVP of Huntington National Bank. She has consulted for dozens of the world's largest companies and has experience on public and private boards. 

Retired Williams-Sonoma COO/CFO joins Board of Online Art Seller, the online art seller, appointed Sharon McCollam, 49, former COO and CFO at Williams-Sonoma, to its Board of Directors. McCollam also previously served as CFO of Dole Fresh Vegetables. She is a Director of Sutter Health and OfficeMax. 

Former Tropicana and Nabisco CEO named to Mozido Board

 Mozido, a provider of mobile-enabled financial services, appointed Ellen Marram, 62, to its Board of Directors. Ellen is the former president and CEO of Tropicana, and the Nabisco Biscuit Company. Currently president of the Barnegat Group, a business advisory firm, Marram's corporate board roles include Eli Lilly, Ford Motor, and The New York Times Co.

Social Media Company names Fashion Expert to Board, an online network dedicated in connecting affordable pre-built websites to everyone, appointed Rochelle Gores Fredston, 30, as Director and its Entertainment and Small Business Strategic Advisor. Gores Fredston, an entrepreneur and businesswoman, has extensive experience developing and cultivating new styles and trends. She is currently the Strategic Advisor for Apparel and Acquisitions at The Gores Group, a family business, which focuses on investments in established and emerging businesses, in technology, telecommunications, industrials, materials, business services, media, healthcare, consumer and aerospace & defense sectors. It is a Global firm with an emphasis on the Americas and Europe with offices in Los Angeles and London.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents.
