Yahoo! hires Google Exec as Chief Revenue Officer as EVP, Americas leaves
Yahoo! has hired Google executive, Michael Barrett, 50, as EVP and Chief Revenue Officer, responsible for ad revenue and global operations. He joined Google following the company’s acquisition of online-advertising firm Admeld in 2011, where he was the CEO and later led the integration efforts.
He has previously worked at Fox Interactive Media as EVP and Chief Revenue Officer overseeing all properties including MySpace and FoxSports.com and worked closely with Yahoo’s current iCEO Ross Levinsohn. Before that, he served as EVP of Sales and Partnerships at AOL Media Networks and held senior sales positions at interactive leaders GeoCities and Disney Online.
EVP of Yahoo! Americas, Rich Riley, 39, is leaving the company in wake of recent changes. He oversaw all go-to-market activities and operations for consumers, advertisers and partners in the region. Netflix promoted Bill Holmes to a new role as Chief Business Development Officer. Holmes, who joined Netflix in 2008, has been serving as VP – Business Development. Cindy Holland assumed a new role as VP of Original Content and VP of Content Acquisition. Holland, a 10 year Netflix veteran, previously oversaw domestic TV licensing for Netflix after starting her career at the company in DVD acquisition. Chinese Social Network Company Names New Director
Renren, a social network company in China, appointed Chuanfu Wang, 46, as an independent director. He is the founder, Chairman and CEO of China based BYD Company, manufacturer for rechargeable batteries as well as handset components and assembly services .
Mr. Wang will replace Ruigang Li, 41, who resigned from the Board. Mr. Li has served as the chairman of China Media Capital and director of WPP. He is the former President of Shanghai Media Group.
