Adobe Appoints New Media Execs to Board

Adobe appointed new board members Amy Banse and Laura Desmond recently. Amy Banse, 51, serves as MD and head of funds, Comcast Ventures and SVP, Comcast Corporation. Prior to this role, she was President of Comcast Interactive Media (CIM), joining the company in 1991.

Laura Desmond, 47, is the CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG), a global marketing services company, part of the Publicis Groupe. Prior to her appointment as global CEO she was CEO of SMG - Americas managing US, Canada and Latin America; CEO of MediaVest; and CEO of SMG's Latin America group.

Mercadolibre New Director is Expert on Emerging Economies

Latin Americas’ no. 1 Hispanic Website, Mercadolibre’s board appointed Susan Segal, 59 as new director. Ms. Segal, has been CEO of the Americas Society and Council of the Americas and served as Managing Director focused on Emerging Markets Investment Banking and Capital Markets at MHT/Chemical/Chase Banks. She was actively involved in the Latin American debt crisis of the 1980s and early 1990s, sitting on many Advisory Committees as well as serving as chairperson for the Chilean and Philippine Advisory Committees.

Bazaarvoice appoints TIBCO CFO to Board

Social Analytics Platform Provider Bazaarvoice announced TIBCO’s CFO Sydney Carey, 46, to its board.  A seasoned corporate finance and strategy executive, prior to TIBCO, she was CFO of Vernier Networks, Pacific Broadband Communications and Entera. Carey also held a variety of positions with Network Associates, including VP of Worldwide Sales Finance and Operations.

Brooks Automation Appoints Hospital CEO as Director

Brooks Automation elected Ellen M. Zane, 59, to its Board. Ms. Zane recently retired as the President and CEO of Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children in Boston, and currently serves on its board of trustees as Vice Chairman. Prior to joining Tufts Medical Center, Ms. Zane held the position of Network President for Partners HealthCare System. Experienced Tech CEO named to Emulex board

Storage networking products company Emulex appointed industry leader Beatriz Infante, 57, to its Board of Directors. Ms. Infante is the CEO of Business Excelleration, a business transformation consultancy she founded in 2009, and also serves as director at Sonus Networks. Prior to these roles, she was the CEO and director of ENXSuite, a leading supplier of energy management solutions, until its acquisition by Infor in 2011. She also served as CEO of VoiceObjects; Interim CEO of Sychron; Chairman, President and CEO of Aspect Communications; and several roles including SVP, Application Servers at Oracle.

MobileBits Appoints Academic and Financial Expert to its Board

The Company appointed Dr. Glenda Glover, 56, to its Board. Dr. Glover has been the Dean of the College of Business at Jackson State University. She has been a Director of First Guaranty Bancshares, member of the Advisory Board of Regions Bank of Mississippi and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Jackson (Mississippi) Airport Authority. Her previous employment experience includes positions as SVP and CFO of an engineering firm, a tax manager at Potomac Electric Power Company and an accountant with Arthur Andersen & Company.

TII Network Technologies’ CFO Elected to Company Board

The network products company TII Network Technologies’ Board appointed Stacey L. Moran, 43, the Company's VP - Finance, CFO, Secretary and Treasurer, as a director, replacing Kenneth A. Paladino, 54. Most recently, Ms. Moran served as EVP and CFO of Suffolk County National Bank where she also held various financial and accounting positions. Prior thereto, she served as Corporate Controller at Excel Technology and has over six years of experience in public accounting with KPMG.

Bridgeline Digital Appoints EVP Global Services, ArcSight/HP to Board

The Web Experience Management company appointed Joni Kahn, 54, to its Board of Directors. Ms. Kahn was the EVP of Global Services for the security and compliance solutions company ArcSight, a Hewlett Packard Company. Ms. Kahn also served as EVP at BearingPoint, as Senior Group VP for worldwide professional services for Business Objects and as EVP and Partner at KPMG Consulting. She has also been a Member of the Board of Directors for MapInfo.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
