Ralph Haupter, 43, the current Area VP for Microsoft Germany, has succeeded Leung as CEO of the Greater China Region. Haupter has also been named Corporate VP. Before being named Area VP, he was GM of Microsoft EMEA. Haputer joined Microsoft as the Senior Director of Small & Mid-Market Solutions and Partners for the EMEA region. Before his time at Microsoft, he served for over a decade at IBM, most recently as Software Channel Sales Executive for EMEA.
The company also announced that Greater China COO Michel van der Bel will be switching positions with Gordon Frazer, the Managing Director of Microsoft U.K. Before being named COO, van der Bel was the VP of Public Sector for Microsoft International. He joined the company in 1999 as Director of the Enterprise Group.
Before being named MD of Microsoft U.K., Frazer served as the MD of Microsoft South Africa. During his 15 year tenure at Microsoft, he has also served as the Head of the Business Solutions Group. Before joining Microsoft, Frazer was a Technical Director at SX Software Engineering, a Business Analyst at Nedcor, and a Business Analyst at AngloGold Ashanti.
Gavin Kim, the GM of Windows Phone, has announced he will leave the company five months after assuming his current role. Prior to this appointment, Kim was the VP of Consumer & Enterprise Services at Samsung. While at Samsung, he was instrumental in launching the Galaxy S II phones and Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet. He has also served as the VP of Telecom at Advanced Technology Ventures and as the Director of Product Operations at Motorola.
North America President Leaves SAP
SAP announced that Robert Courteau, the President of its North America operations, has left the company. Robert Enslin, the company’s Head of Global Sales, will assume the role of President on an interim basis. Prior to his current position, Courteau served as COO for SAP’s Global Field Operations, COO for SAP North America, and EVP of Business User. He joined SAP as President & MD of SAP Canada. Prior to SAP, he served as EVP at EDS and as VP & GM at Xerox. In the past, Courteau served as Chair of the Information Technology Association of Canada.
Executive Shuffle at HP
HP has promoted Marc Levine to SVP & Controller from his most recent position as SVP of Finance for HP Enterprise Services. He has been with HP since 1988 and has held leadership positions in HP’s Asia Pacific region and Medical Products business. Levine will succeed Jim Murrin, who has been appointed as the new SVP & GM of End-User Workplace & Managed Network Services for HP Enterprise Services.
Vyomesh Joshi, 57, has resigned as EVP of the Imaging & Print Group and as a member of HP’s Executive Council. Joshi joined HP in 1980 as a R&D engineer and has since held a variety of leadership positions, including EVP of the Imaging & Personal Systems Group, President of Imaging and Printing Systems, and GM of the Home Imaging Division. In the past, he served on the Board of Directors at Yahoo!
The company also announced that Dr. Prith Banerjee, the company’s SVP of R&D for HP Labs, has left HP to become the new EVP & CTO of ABB, a provider of power and automation technologies. Before joining HP, Banerjee founded Binachip and AccelChip, companies which developed products for electronic design automation. Earlier in his career, he was the Dean of the College of Engineering at University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently, he serves on the Computer Science Advisory Board of the National Academy of Engineering, the Tech Policy Summit Advisory Board, and the Advisory Board for the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. Earlier in his career, Banerjee served on the technical advisory boards of many startup technology companies, including Atrenta, Calypto Design Systems, and Ambit Design Systems.
Shell VP Named CHRO at AMD
AMD has appointed Darrell Ford, 47, as SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer. He will report to CEO Rory Read. Most recently, Ford served as VP of Human Resources for Retail at Shell Oil. Prior to his tenure at Shell, he worked at Honeywell International, where he was responsible for leadership development, talent management, diversity, and performance management.
