Colgate–Palmolive Elects Google Exec to its Board

Colgate-Palmolive has elected Nikesh Arora, 44, to its Board of Directors. Currently, he serves as the SVP & Chief Business Officer of Google. Before being named SVP, he was the President of Global Sales Operations & Business Development, President of EMEA, and VP of Europe Operations. Before joining Google, Arora served as Chief Marketing Officer of the T-Mobile International Division of Deutsche Telekom. Prior to that, he was the CEO & Founder of T-Motion, which later merged with T-Mobile International. Earlier in his career, Arora served as the VP & CFO of Fidelity Technologies. He currently serves as a Director of Bharti Airtel, a leading Indian telecommunications company. 

President of IT & BPO Firm Joins Banking Group

SunTrust Banks has appointed Donna Morea, the President of the U.S., Europe, and Asia segment at CGI Group, to its Board of Directors. She also serves on CGI Group's Board of Directors. Morea joined CGI after it acquired American Management Systems, a high technology & management consulting firm where she served as EVP of the Public Sector.

Viacom & Accenture Board Member Joins Automotive Parts Company

LKQ has appointed Blythe McGarvie, 54, to its Board of Directors. Currently, McGarvie serves as the CEO and Founder of Leadership for International Finance. She also sits on the board of directors at Viacom and Accenture. Earlier in her career, she was the EVP & CFO of BIC Group, a publicly traded consumer goods company. Prior to BIC Group, McGarvie was the EVP & CFO of Hannaford Bros., a Fortune 500 retailer.

Transportation Products Manufacturer Appoints SVP of Texas Instruments

Melendy Lovett has been elected to the Board of Directors at Trinity Industries. Currently, she serves as SVP of Texas Instruments and President of the company's worldwide Education Technology business. Before being named SVP, Lovett was a VP in the company's human resources organization. Prior to joining TI, she was a Senior Manager with the consulting firm Coopers & Lybrand. In addition to her TI duties, Lovett has established and leads an initiative of TI women who are working to improve math and science education for girls in elementary through high school.

Pair of New Directors at Gaming & Hospitality Provider

Pinnacle Entertainment has elected Desiree Rogers to join the company as a Director. Currently, she serves as the CEO of Johnson Publishing Company. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, the Northwestern Memorial Foundation, and the Polk Foundation. Prior to joining Johnson, Rogers served as The White House Social Secretary under President Obama. Earlier in her career, she has held senior roles at Allstate, Peoples Energy, and Larry Levy.

Jaynie Miller Studenmund has also joined the company’s Board. Currently, she is a member of the board of directors at Orbitz Worldwide, Western Asset, and Forest Lawn Memorial Parks. Most recently, she served as President & CEO of Before eHarmony, she was the COO for Overture Services and PayMyBills.Com. Earlier in her career, she was a Managing Committee Member at Home Savings of America, Great Western Bank, and First Interstate Bancorp.

Former Motorola VP Named Chairman of Biopharma Company

China Biologic elected David Xiaoying Gao as Chairman of its Board. He has been serving on the company’s Board since 2011. Most recently, Gao served as the CEO of BMP Sunstone. After BMP Sunstone was acquired by Sanofi, he served as a Senior Integration Advisor to the company. Before joining BMP Sunstone, he was the Chairman & CEO of Abacus Investments, a private wealth management company. Earlier in his career, Gao was Motorola’s VP & Director of the Integrated Electronic System Sector for the Asia-Pacific operation. While at Motorola, he also served as a member of the Management Board of Motorola Asia Pacific, Motorola Japan, and Motorola China.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
