Clearinghouse and Directory Services Provider Names New SVP

Neustar has appointed Julian Lighton as SVP of Strategy & Corporate Development. Most recently, he served as the VP of Strategy, Planning & Market Development at Cisco. During his time at Cisco, he also served as the VP of Emerging Markets and as the GM & VP of the Tools & Consulting Services business unit. Prior to joining Cisco, Lighton held senior positions with Hitachi Americas, McKinsey & Company, and Cambridge Technology Partners.

CEO Leaves Converged IP Testing Provider; COO Appointed

Ixia announced the resignation of Atul Bhatnagar as CEO, a position he has held since 2008. He joined the company in 2007 as President, COO, and a member of the Board. Earlier in his career, Bhatnagar served as the VP of Products at Divatas Networks and as VP & GM of Nortel’s Enterprise Data Networks Division.

Victor Alston, 40, the SVP of Product Development has been appointed COO. He is expected to assume the CEO role after Bhatnagar finalizes his retirement in May. Before being named as SVP, Alston was the Ixia’s VP of Engineering and VP of Application Development. Prior to joining Ixia, he was the Director of Engineering at SAP.

Remote Access Management Company Selects CMO

LogMeIn has named Michael Ewing as the company's Chief Marketing Officer. Ewing joins LogMeIn from Vistaprint, an online supplier of printed and promotional material, where he most recently served as the SVP & Managing Director of the company's Asia Pacific business. Before being appointed to lead the Asia Pacific business, Ewing served as the SVP of Global Partnerships and VP of North American Acquisition Marketing. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Monster.

Communications Equipment Provider Hires CFO and VP of Finance

MRV Communications has appointed Stephen Garcia as CFO. Most recently, he was a Principal Consultant at Avant Advisory Group. Before that, he served as CFO at Glenmount Global Solutions, Obagi Medical Products, CCC GlobalCom, and Incomnet Communications. Garcia has also served as Controller at Melles Griot, Assistant Controller at Focus-MRL and Senior Auditor at Deloitte & Touche.

Beth Arnold has been named as the company’s new VP of Finance. Arnold joins the company from Avant Advisory Group, where she served as a Senior Consultant. Earlier in her career, she served as VP & Controller at 99 Cents Only Stores and Worldwide Restaurant Concepts, Inc. Before that, she was the VP of Finance at The InterGroup Corporation and Koo Koo Roo, Inc.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
