New CMO at Booking.com

The Priceline Group has promoted Paul Hennessy, 47, to Chief Marketing Officer of Booking.com from his current role as Chief Distribution Officer. Before being named Chief Distribution Officer, he was VP of Rental Cars. Prior to joining Priceline, he was Head of Consumer Marketing at Omnipoint Communications, a wireless network operator. Earlier in his career, Hennessy was GM of Marketing at PT Excelcomindo Pratama, a Verizon joint venture based in Indonesia.

Former Microsoft & Amazon Execs Join Cloud Computing and Hosting Service Provider

Savvis has appointed James Parker as SVP of Americas Sales. Most recently, Parker was Microsoft’s GM of the Enterprise & Partner Group for Central & Eastern Europe. During his time at Microsoft, he also served in the Enterprise and Partner Group as the GM for Greater China and as a Sales Manager for the EMEA region. Earlier in his career, he was a Consultant for Dell and a Senior Consultant for IBM.

The company also named Daniel Patton as VP & GM of Cloud Services. Patton comes to Savvis from Amazon, where he ran the Americas Sales Team. Prior to Amazon, he managed regional and global sales teams at IBM and Rational Software. Patton began his career at Boeing, where he spent nine years in product development, product marketing, and sales.

Salesforce.com Selects COO

Salesforce.com has promoted George Hu to COO from his earlier role as EVP of Platform, Marketing, and Operations. He joined Salesforce.com in 2002 and has since served as VP of Product Marketing, SVP of Applications, EVP of Products, and CMO. Prior to Salesforce.com, Hu held product management and strategic consulting roles at North Point Communications and Boston Consulting Group. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010.

Hosting & Cloud Computing Company Recruits CFO and MD, International Business


Rackspace Hosting has promoted Karl Pichler, 30, to CFO and Principal Financial Officer from his previous role as Interim CFO. He joined Rackspace in 2005 as VP Finance and went on to become International Finance Director. Pichler has also served as Treasurer of the company.

Rackspace has also selected Taylor Rhodes to be the new MD of International Business. In his new role, he will focus on business efforts in the EMEA region. He joined Rackspace in 2007 as Head of the Intensive Business Unit. Most recently, Rhodes served as the VP & GM of Enterprise Markets for the EMEA Region. Rhodes joined Rackspace from EDS, where he served as Director of Enterprise Productivity. He has also served as an Officer in the US Marine Corps.

Former Governor on eCommerce Solutions Board


Digital River has named former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty to its Board. Pawlenty served as Governor of the State of Minnesota for two terms from 2003 to 2011. He currently serves on boards of Miromatrix Medical, Ionix Medical, and Red Prairie. He is also Senior Advisor to Vector Capital, a private equity investor. Earlier in his career, Pawlenty was VP of Corporate Development at Wizmo, an early stage technology services company. He has also served as the chair of the National Governor’s Association, Education Commission of the States, and Midwest Governor’s Association.

Interclick has appointed Keith Kaplan to the newly created position of President & Chief Revenue Officer. Prior to this appointment, he was President of North American Operations at Adconion Media Group, one of the largest independent global audience and content networks. Earlier in his career, Kaplan served as the CEO of Metro Lights Outdoor Media and the President of Sales & Marketing of Maxworldwide and L90.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
