Facebook Exec Joins eBay Board

eBay announced that Katie Mitic is joining the company's Board of Directors. She currently leads Platform and Mobile Marketing for Facebook. Prior to joining Facebook, Mitic served as SVP of Global Product Marketing at Palm, where she oversaw hardware and software product management and marketing. Before Palm, she was the VP & GM at Yahoo! Currently, Mitic serves on the Board of Special Olympics International.

Canadian Named CEO of

The Priceline Group announced that former Microsoft executive Darren Huston, 45, has been named as CEO of, a leading online hotel reservation service. Most recently, Huston served as Microsoft’s Corporate VP of the Consumer & Online division. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of Microsoft Japan, the company's largest subsidiary outside the US. Before joining Microsoft, Huston was SVP of Branded Products and New Ventures at Starbucks. He has also served as an executive with McKinsey & Company and as an economic advisor to the Government of Canada.

New CTO at Yahoo!

Raymie Stata, 43, has stepped down as Yahoo's CTO, but will remain at the company as an Entrepreneur in Residence. During his time at the company, Stata oversaw search and advertising technology work, as well as the development of Yahoo's cloud computing technology. Ash Munshi will replace Stata as the new CTO. Most recently, Munshi served as the Corporate Vice President at Applied Materials, where he was responsible for software and automation. Prior to Applied Materials, he was the VP & GM of the Enterprise Business Unit at Silicon Graphics and Director of Development and Marketing of the Tools Division at Oracle.

Chinese E-Commerce Company Hires Entrepreneur as Head of Tech

E-Commerce China Dangdang announced the appointment of Justin Changqing Xiong as the new Head of Technology. Prior to joining the Company, Xiong served as COO at Et-China, one of the largest travel agencies in Southern China. Before that he founded and served as CEO of, an e-ticket provider. He also worked as CTO of, a Chinese online marketplace.

Lead Director Elected at announced the appointment of Lowell Robinson, 62, as the company's new Lead Director. Currently, Robinson is the chairman of American Consolidated Media Holdings and a director at the Jones Group. Most recently, Robinson served as CFO & COO of MIVA, an online advertising network. He has also served as the Senior EVP, CFO, & CAO of In the past, Robinson has served on boards of Edison Schools and the International Wire Group.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
