Chairman of IT Management Company Joins Pharma Board

Taro Pharmaceutical Industries announced that Dov Pekelman has joined its Board. Pekelman is currently the Chairman & CEO of Atera Networks, a cloud IT management provider. He also serves as a director at Makhteshim Agan Industries, an agrochemical manufacturer and distributor. In the past, Pekelman was a Senior Consultant to Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. He has also served on the Board of Directors at Koor Industries and was a member of the Advisory Committee at the Bank of Israel.

Market Research Firm Hires Former Apple Board Member

ComScore announced that its Board of Directors has elected Gareth Chang, 68, to serve as a director of the company. Currently, Chang is the Chairman & CEO of Towona Media, a China-based digital media provider. He also serves as the Chairman and Managing Partner of GC3 & Associates International, a management consulting and private investment firm. Chang previously served as Executive Chairman of Netstar Group Holding Company, an Asian Pacific networking system integration company, and as Chairman & CEO of News Corporation's Star TV Group. He has also served in senior executive roles at Hughes Electronics and McDonnell Douglas. Earlier in his career, Chang served on the boards of directors for Apple Computer, Agile Software, DirectTV, News Corporation, and Palm.

FedEx IT Exec Joins Board of Building Material Distributor

David Zanca has been selected to join the Board of Directors at Interline Brands. He will also serve on the company's Nominating & Governance Committee. Zanca currently serves as the SVP of Customer Access and Revenue Systems for FedEx. Prior to this appointment, he was the SVP of IT for FedEx Freight. He has also served as a Senior Manager at Andersen Consulting.   

Bank Holding Company Selects New Board Member

Sandy Spring Bancorp has announced that Gary Nakamoto, 47, was elected as a member of the company’s Board of Directors. He has also joined the Compensation and Audit Committees. Nakamoto is the former Chairman of Base Technologies, a professional services firm which was recently acquired by CA Technologies. He is also the founder of The Nakamoto Group, a business consulting firm.

Former Lucent CFO Joins Board of Investment Bank

Duff & Phelps announced that John Kritzmacher, 50, has joined the company's Board of Directors. Currently, Kritzmacher is CFO & EVP at Global Crossing, a provider of IP-based telecommunications solutions. Prior to joining Global Crossing, he served as COO of Alcatel-Lucent and as CFO of Lucent Technologies. Kritzmacher held a variety of leadership positions during his 10 years at Lucent, including SVP, Corporate Controller, and COO of the Services Business Group. In the past, he has served on the Board of Directors for InterDigital, a wireless technology provider.

Former CTO on Banking Board

William Fenimore Jr., 67, was elected to the Board of Directors at Citizens Republic Bancorp. Fenimore worked at CoreStates Financial for nearly 30 years in various senior management roles. Prior to joining CoreStates, he served as the Group EVP and Chief Technology & Strategic Planning Officer at Meridian Bank. Before Meridian, he was the CEO of Integrion Financial Network, an enterprise established by various large financial institutions to build and operate a common Internet technology infrastructure to serve the e-commerce needs of financial services companies. He has also served as a Managing Partner at BridgeLink, a Switzerland-based firm providing capital raising and related advisory services.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
