Eminent Canadian CFO Joins Banking Board

TD Bank Group announced the appointment of Karen Maidment, 52, to its Board of Directors. In the past, Maidment was the CFO & CAO at BMO Financial Group. Prior to that, she held several executive positions with Clarica Life Insurance Company, including CFO. Currently, Maidment serves on the boards of TransAlta, TD Ameritrade Holding, The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, and The University of Waterloo. She was also named Canada's CFO of the Year for 2006 by Financial Executives International Canada.

Facebook Exec Joins eBay Board

eBay announced that Katie Mitic is joining the company's Board of Directors. She currently leads Platform and Mobile Marketing for Facebook. Prior to joining Facebook, Mitic served as SVP of Global Product Marketing at Palm, where she oversaw hardware and software product management and marketing. Before Palm, she was the VP & GM at Yahoo! Currently, Mitic serves on the Board of Special Olympics International.

New Addition to Manufacturing Company’s Board

Danaher has selected Teri List-Stoll to serve on its Board. She has also been appointed to the Board’s Audit Committee. Currently, List-Stoll serves as SVP & Treasurer at Procter & Gamble. Prior to joining P&G, she spent nearly a decade at Deloitte & Touche as a Senior Manager.

Board Member Leaves ADP

Sharon Rowlands, 52, has resigned from the Board of Directors at Automatic Data Processing, a leading payroll and tax processing firm. Currently, Rowlands serves as CEO of Altegrity, a global risk consulting and information services company. Prior to joining Altegrity, she was the CEO of Penton Media. Earlier in her career, Rowlands was President and CEO of Thomson Financial, a provider of information solutions to the financial community. She also serves as a Director at Constant Contact.

SVP of Medical Systems Company on Altera Board

Altera, a manufacturer of programmable logic devices, announced that Elisha Finney, 49, has become the newest member of the company's Board. Currently, Finney serves as the SVP & CFO of Varian Medical Systems. Prior to Varian Medical Systems, she held management positions at The Fox Group and Beatrice Foods. Finney also serves on the Board of Directors for Thoratec, a medical device company.

Footwear Manufacturer Hires Retail Executive

Deckers Outdoor announced that Lauri Shanahan has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors. Most recently, she served as CAO, CLO & Corporate Secretary for Gap. Currently, Shanahan serves on the Board of Charlotte Russe, a specialty retailer of women’s apparel and accessories. She is also a Principal at Maroon Peak Advisors, a company which provides consulting services to the retail and consumer products industry.

Former First Daughter on the Board of Internet Conglomerate

Chelsea Clinton, 31, is joining the Board of IAC, an Internet conglomerate which owns websites including,, and In the past, Clinton has served as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and Avenue Capital Group. She also serves on the Board of the School of American Ballet.

CFO Named to Board of Medical Supplies Company

Patterson Companies announced the election of Jody Feragen, 55, to its Board of Directors. Feragen currently serves as the EVP & CFO of Hormel Foods, a multinational marketer and manufacturer of brand name food and meat products. She also serves on Hormel’s Board. Prior to joining Hormel Foods, she served as Director of Treasury Operations for BMC Industries and as a Manager of Internal Audit for the Conwed Corporation.

Real Estate Investment Trust Company Appoints Shopping Center Industry Veteran

DDR announced that Rebecca Maccardini has been named as a member of its Board of Directors. Maccardini the President of Rebecca Maccardini Resources, a retail real estate consulting firm which she founded. Prior to this, she spent over twenty years with The Forbes Company. She is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), where she has served as both a Trustee and Chairperson.

Telecom Company Chairman on Electronics Retail Board

RadioShack announced that Julie Dobson, 54, has been elected to its Board of Directors. She will also serve on the Management Development and Compensation Committees. In the past, Dobson served as COO and a founding principal of TeleCorp PCS, a wireless/mobile phone company. Prior to TeleCorp PCS, she held senior positions at Verizon and Bell Atlantic Mobile. Currently, Dobson serves on the boards of American Water Works Company, PNM Resources, and Safeguard Scientifics.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
