MetLife Recruits New Head of Global Technology

MetLife announced that Martin Lippert has been appointed as EVP and Head of Global Technology. Most recently, Lippert served as Chief Operations and Technology Officer for Citigroup. Prior to joining Citigroup, he spent more than 10 years as Vice Chairman and Group Head of Global Technology and Operations for the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). Lippert began his career in the IT department of Mellon Bank, where he most recently served as EVP of Information Management & Research.

Qlik Technologies Promotes SVP to CTO

Qlik Technologies, a business intelligence software provider, announced that Anthony Deighton, 37, has assumed the title of CTO. In addition to his new responsibilities, he will continue to serve as SVP of Products at Qlik. Prior to joining the company, Deighton served as the GM of Siebel Systems' Employee Relationship Management (ERM) business unit. Before joining Siebel, he worked as a Business Analyst at A.T. Kearney.

CIO Leaves Specialized Payment Products and Services Provider

Van Huff, 49, has resigned from his role as CIO at FleetCor Technologies. In the past, Huff served as SVP of IT at First Data, a provider of electronic commerce and payment solutions.

Specialty Foods Distributor Loses CIO

United Natural Foods announced that John Stern, 44, the company’s CIO & SVP, has resigned from his position. Prior to joining UNFI, Stern served as CIO at Take Two Interactive Software and held executive roles at Deloitte & Touche.

Gaming Equipment Manufacturer Hires Mobile Technology Expert

Bally Technologies announced that Keith Michel has joined the company as the new Director of Mobile Technology. Prior to this appointment, Michel held leadership roles at MacroView Labs. Before joining MacroView Labs, he was a Chief Architect & Technical Director at HiWired, a provider of tech support and services. Earlier in his career, Michel served as a Software Architect & Development Manager at Englishtown, an online English language learning portal.

SVP Promoted to CIO at Monster

Monster Worldwide announced that Mark Conway, the company's current SVP of Technologies, has been named as CIO. He succeeds Darko Dejanovic who has accepted a position as Chief Technology, Product, & Innovation Officer at the Active Network. Prior to Monster, Conway served as President of Technology Investment Advisors, a trading firm.

Zale announced that Brad Furry has been named as the company’s new SVP & CIO. Prior to joining Zale, Furry spent more than 20 years at The Neiman Marcus Group, most recently as the VP of Enterprise Services. Before Neiman Marcus, he managed applications development at Pier 1 Imports.

Ex-Oracle & Siebel Exec Joins Enterprise CRM Solutions Company

NexJ Systems announced the appointment of Tom Predovic to the role of SVP of Technology. Most recently, Predovic served as Group VP of CRM SaaS at Oracle. Prior to joining Oracle in 2006, Predovic served as VP of Engineering at Siebel Systems and as VP of Enterprise Solutions at Janna Systems.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
