Tech Giants Welcoming Women on Board

Microsoft Elects Former US Secretary of Commerce as Newest Board Member. Entrepreneur, civic leader and philanthropist and former United States Secretary of Commerce Penny S. Pritzker, JD, 58, joins as director of Microsoft.

Broadcom Appoints Former Benchmark Electronics CEO as Independent Director. Broadcom appointed Ms. Gayla J. Delly, 57, as an independent director of the company. Ms. Delly served as CEO of Benchmark Electronics.

Activision Blizzard Elected Educationist Reveta Bowers to the Board. Bowers is an independent governance and organizational consultant for non-profit organizations. From 1972 to 2016, she served as a teacher and administrator at The Center for Early Education, an independent school for children.

Meg Whitman Steps Down From DXC Board. DXC Technology announced that Meg Whitman, chief executive officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, will step down from the DXC Technology board of directors. Whitman had joined the DXC Technology board earlier this year, as the company was being formed by the merger of HPE’s Enterprise Services business with CSC. 

Expedia Appoints Courtnee Chun to the Board. Courtnee Chun, 42, succeeds Dr. John C. Malone, 76, who resigned. Ms. Chun has served as SVP of Investor Relations for Liberty Interactive Corporation and Liberty Media Corporation, and has served as a director of HSN since May 2013.

Seagate Technology named Judy Bruner, 58, to the company’s board. Ms. Bruner has over 35 years of financial management experience in the high technology industry and deep experience with compliance and enterprise risk management. Most recently she served as EVP of administration and CFO of SanDisk Corporation.

SmartForest Ventures Managing Partner, Deborah A. Coleman, 65, Not to Stand for Re-Election to Synopsys's Board.

Financial Services Solutions Provider Broadridge Appoints Pamela L. Carter to Board. Pamela L. Carter, 68, is the retired President of Cummins Distribution Business.

Singapore based Flex Appoints Jennifer Li to Board. Flex, the Sketch-to-Scale™ solutions provider that designs and builds Intelligent Products for a Connected World, named Jennifer Li, a seasoned, international exec with extensive experience in China, automotive, and multiple technology sectors, to the company's Board. Current CEO and General Managing Director of Baidu Capital.

Amdocs Elects Ariane de Rothschild to Board. Amdocs, the leading software, services provider to communications and media companies, names Ariane de Rothschild as director. Rothschild is President of the Executive Committee of Edmond de Rothschild since 2015, and VP of the Edmond de Rothschild Holding SA since 1999.

Match Group Appoints New CEO to board. Current Americas Chief Amanda (Mandy) Ginsberg, 48, is named CEO and board member of Match Group.

Tele2 Group Director Irina Hemmers to Depart. Irina Hemmers, 45, will decline re-election to the board of Tele2 Group. She was elected to the board in 2014. Her earlier assignments include Non-Executive Director of Trader Corporation, Trader Media Group, Top Right Group and Hit Entertainment as well as partner at Eight Roads and Apax Partners.

Rightmove plc Appoints Top Media Analyst and Investment Adviser as Non-Executive Director. The UK base property portal Rightmove plc named Lorna Tilbian as a non-executive director. Lorna was an executive director and Head of the Media Sector in Corporate Broking & Advisory at Numis Corporation PLC until September 2017.

Cypress Semiconductor Appoints Jeannine Sargent to Board of Directors. Sargent, 53, brings 30 years of experience encompassing leadership, operations, marketing and engineering roles within a diverse mix of high tech component and systems companies and her most recent role being President of Innovation and New Ventures at Flex, a leading contract design, engineering and manufacturing company.

Alibaba Health Information Technology’s Board Member to Step Down. Ms. Aizhu Huang, 49, has tendered her resignation as a non- executive Director of the Company. She is former Senior Director of Tmall.

Changes on Software BoardsNuance Communications Appoints Director from Healthcare Sector; Business Transformation EVP Named. Laura Kaiser, President and CEO of SSM Health, has joined Nuance’s Board of Directors.  

NCR Corporation Elects New Director. NCR elected Deborah A. Farrington, 67, co-founder and general partner of StarVest Partners, L.P. and president of StarVest Management.

2U Appoints Valerie Jarrett to Board of Directors. Valerie Jarrett, 61, is a respected and acclaimed civic leader, business executive and attorney who most recently held the role of the longest-serving senior advisor to President Barack Obama where she oversaw the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs and chaired the White House Council on Women and Girls. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Jarrett was CEO of The Habitat Company, a real estate development and management company.

TIBCO Software Appoints Former Epicor EVP to board. TIBCO Software appointed Donna Troy to its board of directors. Troy has held executive roles throughout her career with companies, including IBM, McAfee, SAP, Dell, and Epicor Software, where her demonstrated global leadership and general management experience drove success for several business units and groups. 

MuleSoft Taps Current CEO of Airware as Director. MuleSoft, provider of the leading platform for building application networks, appointed Yvonne Wassenaar, 48, CEO of Airware, to its board of directors. Prior to Airware, Wassenaar served as the CIO of New Relic. 

Cloudera Appoints Rosemary Schooler to its Board. Schooler is VP and General Manager of Global Internet of Things (IoT) Sales for Intel.

Cloud-Based Software Platform Provider Names Michelle K. Lee as Director. Ms. Lee, 52, is the Herman Phleger Visiting Professor of Law at Stanford Law School, where she teaches disruptive technologies and intellectual property. From 2012 until June 2017, Ms. Lee held various positions with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including most recently serving as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO.

PROS Holdings Names Seasoned Entrepreneur, CEO, and Board Member to Board. PROS Holdings, the cloud software company powering the shift to modern commerce, appointed Penny Herscher, 56, to its board of directors. Herscher previously served as CEO for FirstRain, a privately held company in the unstructured data analytics space, from 2005 to 2015.

ThoughtWorks Names New Board Members to Drive Next Phase of Growth. ThoughtWorks, a global software development and digital transformation consultancy, named Jane Chwick, 54, and Dr. Anita Sands, 41, to board. Ms. Chwick was a partner at Goldman Sachs where she had a 30-year career in technology, most recently as Co-COO of the technology division. 
Dr. Sands is former Head of Transformation for Global Technology and Operations at Citigroup, and COO of UBS Wealth Management. She is also an active investor.

Other Board Changes

Belden Appoints Director with Strong Background in Digital Marketing, Enterprise Transformation and Go To Market Strategy.  Networking, connectivity and cable products company Belden appointed Diane Brink as a Director. Ms. Brink currently serves as a senior fellow and adjunct professor at Kellogg School of Management Markets and Customers Initiative, Northwestern University and as a management consultant. Most recently was CMO for IBM Global Technology Services.

Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC Appoints Couple of Board Members. Euromoney appointed Wendy Pallot, 52, as CFO and to the Board. Pallot is currently Group Finance Director of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc. Ms. Pallot is also the non-executive Chair and co-founder of a company which operates local radio stations, and a Governor of the Central School of Ballet.
Euromoney also named Imogen Joss, 54, an independent non-executive director of the company. Joss served as the President of S&P Global Platts since September 2015 until September 2016.

First Derivatives plc Announces the Appointment of Donna Troy as A Non-Executive Director. Troy has held executive roles throughout her career with companies, including IBM, McAfee, SAP, Dell, and Epicor Software, where her demonstrated global leadership and general management experience drove success for several business units and groups.

Fidessa Group Director Departs. Trading and investment management systems provider Fidessa group plc announced that Elizabeth Lake, 75, has stepped down as an independent Non-Executive Director of the company. President of Securities Processing Solutions International at Broadridge Financial Solutions.

Systemax Announces Board Changes. Marie Adler-Kravecas, 57, a member of the Board of Directors, is resigning from the company’s board. Former President at Myron Corporation.

Cray Appoints Director with Tech Industry and Finance Experience. The board elected Catriona M. Fallon, 46, as a director of supercomputer company Cray. Current SVP and Segment Head of Marketing and former CFO of Silver Spring Networks.

Liberty Interactive Appoints HSN’s Board Member to its Own Board after HSN Acquisition. Liberty Interactive Corporation completed its acquisition of HSN and appointed Fiona Dias, 51, a director of HSNi, to the board of directors of Liberty Interactive. Principal Digital Partner at Ryan Retail Consulting and former Chief Strategy Officer of ShopRunner.

Serco Inc. Appoints Retired Navy Vice Admiral to its Board. Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, and management services and subsidiary of Serco Group plc, announced that Carol Pottenger, 62, has been appointed to the Board of its U.S. business. Pottenger has a distinguished 36 year career with the Navy and has been one of the first women selected for sea duty. 

UK Based Online Retailer AO World plc Appoints Director with Digital Media Experience. AO World plc announced that Jacqueline de Rojas has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director. Jacqueline is the President of techUK and the chair of the Digital Leaders board. She serves on the government's Digital Economy Council. Prior to this, Jacqueline held senior executive roles at major technology companies, including Sage Group plc, Citrix Systems Inc, CA Technologies, Novell and McAfee International.

Spirent Communications’ Newest Director Comes with Tech Expertise in Key APAC Markets. UK based telecom testing company Spirent Communications plc named Wendy Koh as non-executive director.  Wendy Koh is currently VP, Pathways, Alliance and Strategy APAC with NetApp Singapore.

NCC Group Long Time Board Member Steps Down. Cyber security services firm NCC Group plc announced that in line with best practice, after nine years' tenure, Debbie Hewitt MBE, 54, Senior Independent Director, will resign and step down from the Board.

Zensar Technologies Appoints Former Schneider Electric Exec as Board Member. The board approved the appointment of Ms. Tanuja Randery, 50, as an additional as well as independent non-executive director of the India based digital solutions company. She is former CEO, UK & Ireland for Schneider Electric.

Former CFO of CyrusOne and StackPath Joins Switch's Board. Data center provider Switch appointed Kimberly Sheehy, 52, to its Board of Directors. As the former CFO of CyrusOne, Mrs. Sheehy has vast experience in the multitenant datacenter market. She is also former CFO of StackPath.

Glu Mobile Appoints Former EA and Tesla’s HR Leader as Director. Glu Mobile, the developer and publisher of mobile games for smartphone and tablet devices, appointed Gabrielle Toledano, 50, to the company’s board. Toledano has been the Chief People Officer of and spent 10 years at Electronic Arts, most recently as the company’s Chief Talent Officer and EVP.

Digi International Gets Director with Experience in Food Services. Digi International, a leading global provider of mission-critical machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity products and services, nominated Ms. Sally Smith, 59, the retiring President and CEO of restaurant company Buffalo Wild Wings, to stand for election as director.

Diane Fulton Not to Stand for Re-election to the Board of CPI Card Group. Diane Fulton, 63, informed the Board of Directors of CPI Card Group of her decision not to stand for re-election to the Board. Fulton serves as a VP and Chief Investment Officer at Vancouver Foundation.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.
