Nordstrom, Washington, January 2017 - Nordstrom plans to hire a new CTO by the end of the year, who will be responsible for all aspects of technology, after the CIO and CTO both left early this year.

The AES Corporation, Virginia, June 2017 - SVP & CIO Elizabeth Hackenson departed from the company. No announcements on new CIO yet.

The Western Union Company, Colorado, November 2017 - J. David Thompson, EVP, Global Operations and Technology, CTO, of The Western Union Company resigns to pursue other business opportunities. Sheri Rhodes, CTO, Global Payments and Digital, will serve as Acting CTO until the Company names a permanent successor.

Deloitte, Illinois, December 2016 - Deloitte is looking for a CISO reporting to the CIO.

Avaya, Texas, November 2017 - Avaya is looking for a CISO is responsible for identifying, evaluating and reporting IT, and cybersecurity risk to Avaya and Avaya related information assets, while supporting and advancing business objectives.

Rent-A-Center, Texas, November 2017 - Angela Yochem plans to step down as CIO of Rent-A-Center at the end of the year, taking the newly created role of chief digital officer at Novant Health in January. Rent-A-Center is seeking a successor for the CIO post.

Equifax, Georgia, September 2017 - CIO David Webb and Chief Security Officer Susan Mauldin are leaving after the data breach. Mark Rohrwasser has been appointed interim CIO and Russ Ayres has been appointed interim Chief Security Officer.

Teradata, California, November 2017 - Teradata is seeking a VP, Global Cyber Security (CISO), who will lead the Company’s Cyber Security Team to coordinate business outcomes and strategic value capture.

E*TRADE, New York, September 2017 - Michael Foley, EVP and Chief Technology and Operations Officer, is leaving E*TRADE to pursue other opportunities.

Twitter, California, December 2016 - Twitter's CTO Adam Messinger left.  *no replacement announced. It is unclear the company is looking for a CTO.

Allegiant Travel Company, Nevada, December 2017 - Allegiant Travel Company announced that Scott Allard has resigned his position as EVP and CIO. Robert Wilson, SVP, information systems, will act as interim CIO until a successor is selected.

Splunk, California, January 2018 - Richard Campione, the company’s Chief Product Officer, entered into a Transition Plan and Release Agreement pursuant to which Mr. Campione’s employment with the company will terminate on January 31, 2018.

The Buckle, Nebraska, November 2015 - The Buckle is seeking a CIO to direct, plan, and manage the company's Information Systems.

Shutterstock, New York, July 2017  - David Giambruno, the Company’s CIO, will be leaving the Company.

Everspin Technologies, Arizona, October 2017 - Jon Slaughter, Ph.D, VP, Technology Research and Development, informed that he will be leaving the Everspin.

TMAC Resources, Ontario, Canada, January 2018 - Gordon Morrison is retiring as President and CTO, and will immediately transition to the part time role of Executive Advisor effective January 1, 2018.

Diadexus, California, March 2016 - Dr. Emilia Zychlinksy, EVP and Chief Technical Officer, resigned.

United States Department of Defense, Washington, D.C., January 2017 - Terry Halvorsen, who as the Pentagon’s CIO, retired. Current principal deputy CIO, John Zangardi, is expected to step in as acting CIO.

NASA, Washington D.C., May 2017 - Michael Witt, who joined NASA in February, will become acting senior agency information security officer, replacing Jeanette Hanna-Ruiz.

University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma, June 2017 - Oklahoma Eddie Huebsch has been named interim CIO at the University of Oklahoma. Huebsch has served OU IT for more than 16 years in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as associate VP of technology advancement.

Dallas Independent School District, Texas, June 2017 - CTO Bob Moore left in June. The role is vacant.

University of California, California - University of California, San Diego, is looking for a CTO and Director of Enterprise Computing who will lead the Office of Engineering Computing (OEC), a comprehensive IT organization providing administrative and academic IT services both to the School and other campus units.

Huawei Technologies, Massachusetts - Huawei Technologies is seeking a CTO - Enterprise Storage, for Massachusetts location to lead the development of the storage strategy and roadmap; ensure its integration with the enterprises strategic planning and process, as well as the resulting business strategy and plans.

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, Alaska, Deceber 2017 - SEARHC is seeking a new CIO that will create a best in class, IT division.

Europe, Middle East & Africa 

Liberty Global plc, United Kingdom - Balan Nair, currently Chief Technology & Innovation Officer for Liberty Global, will assume the position of President and CEO of its Latin American and Caribbean operation once the split-off from Liberty Global occurs, which is expected around the end of the year. Mr. Nair will remain in his current position with Liberty Global until the split-off is completed, and a search is already underway for his successor. 

Asia Pacific 

Tata Motors, India, September 2017 - CTO Tim Leverton has resigned and will continue in the position until 31 October, and his successor will be announced in due course.

First Philippine Holdings Corporation and First Gen Corporation, Philippines - Charlie R. Valerio, VP and CIO of the Corporation, resigned effective September 30, 2017, to pursue other interests.

Zhongyuan Bank, China, December 2017 - Zhang Bin has resigned as an executive director, the VP, the CIO due to adjustment of his work arrangement.

Cheetah Mobile, China, December 2017 - The company announced that Mr. Charles Fan will resign as CTO of the Company for personal reasons.

Energy Development Corporation, Philippines, December 2017 - Energy Development Corporation announced retirement of Mr. Erudito S. Recio, Assistant VP, Corporate Information Officer, and Head of Investor Relations. Mr. Ryan Z. Velasco is designated as Mr. Recio's replacement in an acting capacity.

Roxas Holdings, Philippines, January 2018 - Roxas Holdings announced the resignation of Earl Eric Nestor H. Ferrer as VP of Information and Communication Technology.

Oceanus Group, Singapore - Tan Kim Chuan Matthew stepped down as Chief Risk Officer and CTO of the company. 

Latin America 

TOTVS S.A., Brazil - TOTVS approved the resignation tendered by the CTO, Mr. André Bretas Nunes de Lima.

Lowe's Companies, North Carolina - Lowe's Companies named Vikram Singh as SVP, chief digital officer. Singh joins Lowe's most recently from Amazon.

Macy's, Ohio - Macy’s appointed Jill Ramsey as chief product and digital revenue officer. Most recently, she was Vice President, GM of Vertical Businesses at eBay.

CenturyLink, Louisiana - Shaun Andrews is CenturyLink's EVP, product management. Andrews was previously the SVP, IP and real-time communications for Level 3.

Taco Bell Corp., California - Taco Bell has named Elizabeth Baicy, VP, Digital and Future Works. Baicy joins Taco Bell from Amazon.

Taco Bell has named Jon Kosoff, VP, E-commerce and Performance Marketing. Kosoff joins Taco Bell from Hot Topic.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Ontario, Canada - Director of technology Esan Peters named as CIO and Managing Director Technology & Operations.

L3 Technologies, New York - L3 Technologies announced that retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Patrick J. O’Reilly has been appointed as corporate VP of Engineering. Former Director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.

L3 Technologies announced that Sean J. Stackley has been appointed as corporate VP, Strategic Advanced Programs and Technology. Mr. Stackley served as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition) from 2008 to 2017.

W. W. Grainger, Illinois - Mark Lohman promoted to CISO at Grainger. Joined Grainger in 2014 as senior director of information security and business continuity.

Royal Caribbean Cruises, Florida - Royal Caribbean Cruises has named Martha Poulter as SVP and CIO. Poulter joins RCL after spending the last 13 years of her career as CIO for Starwood Hotels and Resorts and GE Capital.

Realogy Holdings, New Jersey - Realogy Holdings named Dave Gordon as EVP, CTO. Most recently, Gordon served for the past three years as U.S. Chief Technology & Operations Officer at BMO Financial Group.

S&P Global, New York - S&P Global CIO Krishna Nathan is leaving the company following a broad reorganization. Swamy Kocherlakota, the company’s head of global infrastructure and enterprise transformation, is now CIO.

WestJet Airlines, Alberta, Canada - WestJet named Stuart McDonald as VP and CTO. Stuart most recently served as VP, Strategic Initiatives, and VP, Employee Enablement at TD Bank.

Avaya, California - Avaya appointed Greg Pelton to VP, technology strategy. Pelton returns to Avaya after previously serving as CTO for the government solutions arm of the company from 2011 to 2014. He was most recently CTO and VP, infrastructure engineering, for Polycom.

Avaya appointed Mercer Rowe as SVP and general manager of Avaya Cloud, a newly formed organization with a singular focus on driving cloud products and services for Avaya. Rowe joins Avaya from IBM, where he served as VP of strategic partners for the company's cloud and Watson platforms.

Brinker International, Texas - Brinker International named Wade Allen as SVP and chief digital officer. Allen joined the Brinker family in 2014 as VP of Digital Guest Experience.

Akamai Technologies, Massachusetts - Akamai Technologies appointed Fari Ebrahimi as SVP and CIO. Ebrahimi most recently served as SVP and Global CIO of Avaya.

Cengage Learning Holdings, Massachusetts - Fernando Bleichmar has been appointed Chief Product Officer. In his previous role as Chief Strategy Officer, he led efforts to expand student choices and new revenue streams.

j2 Global, California - Joey Fortuna has been named CTO of j2 Global. Joey Fortuna joined Ziff Davis in 2011 as its Chief Technology Officer and subsequently joined j2 in 2012 following its acquisition of Ziff Davis. 

Infinera Corporation, California - Glenn Laxdal joins Infinera as SVP of product management. Previously, Mr. Laxdal was head of Ericsson North America’s network products business and also served as CTO and head of strategy for Ericsson North America.

Fiesta Restaurant Group, Texas - Fiesta Restaurant Group has promoted Ryan Nowlin to the newly created position of CIO. Nowlin was VP of information technology since September 2012.

Bluegreen Vacations Corporation, Florida - Bluegreen Vacations Corporation promoted Chanse Rivera CIO to EVP, CIO.

Cision, Illinois - Cision has hired Pritham Shetty as CTO. Pritham most recently served as SVP of product and technology at GuideSpark.

Axon Enterprise, Arizona - Axon promoted Jenner Holden to Chief Information Security Officer. Previously SVP of Information Security.

Rocket Software, Massachusetts - Rocket Software introduced Anjali Arora as SVP and Chief Product Officer, where she is responsible for driving the Rocket product strategy and R&D organization. Prior to Rocket, she spent three years as Global VP of Software Engineering for Oracle’s Health Sciences Global Business Unit.

Salem Media Group, California - Salem Media Group announced effective immediately Salem has appointed Jamie Cohen to the position of VP Local Digital, responsible for driving local digital revenue growth. Jamie joins Salem from USAToday Network, where he oversaw Digital sales and development efforts in a number of regions.

Home Capital Group, Ontario, Canada - Home Capital Group named Victor DiRisio as CIO. DiRisio brings over 15 years of experience in C-level Information Technology and Supply Chain roles in large national retail, wholesale and distribution, and manufacturing organizations.

Telcordia Technologies, New Jersey - iconectiv has named veteran software, services and communications industry executive Alex Berry as the EVP of its Information Solutions Business Unit. Prior to iconectiv, Berry served as Chief Operating Officer and President of North America for Back Office Associates.

Cedar Electronics Holdings, Ohio - Cedar Electronics named Manuel Jaime as CTO. Jaime most recently served as Co-Founder and CEO of ClipCast Technologies.

Code42 Software, Minnesota - Code42 announced that Jeremy Bauer has joined the company as its CIO. Bauer has served as a CIO, chief security officer and VP in charge of corporate IT and data center operations for companies, including Castlight Health, Digital River and SuccessFactors.

Juno Therapeutics, Washington - Juno Therapeutics appointed Cindy Elkins as CIO. Ms. Elkins served most recently as VP, IT for the Americas at Genentech.

Netrix, Illinois - Netrix announced Dean Pipes, formerly of Zurich Insurance, has joined the Netrix team as the Chief Innovation Architect. Prior to joining Netrix, Pipes led the entire technology work stream for the Zurich North American headquarters, and most recently Zurich's global buildout team. 

Baylin Technologies, Ontario, Canada - Baylin Technologies appointed Dr. Simon Yang as VP of Embedded Solutions Engineering and General Manager of the Galtronics R&D Centre of Excellence in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Yang comes to Baylin from Airgain where he created and directed the technology strategy from initial R&D to final production and manufacturing.

Altamira Technologies, Virginia - Altamira Technologies Corporation announced appointment of Dr. Rod Fontecilla as CTO. Most recently, Rod was a VP at Unisys where he built and led their global data analytics practice.

Merlin International, Colorado - Merlin International announced that Tejinder Luthra has joined the company as VP of Engineering. Tejinder joins Merlin after spending the last 7 years at IBM, most recently as Global Technical Executive for Cloud Analytics.

Sevatec, Virginia - Vikas Sharma has been appointed as Sevatec’s Chief Solutions Architect for Cloud Services. Sharma brings more than twenty years of experience in enterprise and cloud transformation for federal entities such as Department of Homeland Security Headquarters (DHS HQ), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), etc.

Cylance, California - Cylance® announced the promotion of Rahul Kashyap to Global CTO. Prior to joining Cylance, Rahul was executive vice president of products at Bromium.

AGS, South Carolina - AGS named Richard LaBrocca as VP of Jurisdictional Engineering & Product Quality Assurance. LaBrocca joined the company after a 19-year career with Gaming Laboratories International, where he most recently served as Senior Director of Engineering.

Sparta Systems, New Jersey - Sparta Systems announced that Stephen McCarthy has been appointed to the newly created role of VP of digital innovation. Mr. McCarthy has held several high-profile positions within Johnson & Johnson (J&J), the most recent of which was as VP of quality systems shared services for the company's pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer segments.

Innovative Food Holdings, Florida - Michael Fabrico has joined the company as CIO. Mike was the CIO at Haddon House Food Products from Jan. 2015 and through their acquisition by United Natural Foods in 2016.

Joyent, California - Joyent appointed Scott King as its VP of Cloud Data Centers. King comes to Joyent after spending five years at VMware, most recently as Senior Director of Global Data Center Strategy and Operations.

Pareteum Corporation, New York - Pareteum Corporation announced that it has appointed E-Commerce and Network Security executive Ali Davachi as the company's CTO and COO.

33Across, New York - 33Across reported the promotion of former CRO Paul Bell to general manager, Global Data Solutions.

EBSCO Industries, Alabama - EBSCO Industries announced that Ryan Loy is joining the company as CIO. Loy comes to EBSCO from ADTRAN where he was CIO.

Kent State University, Ohio - John M. Rathje, associate vice chancellor and CIO at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is coming to Kent State University after a national search.

Polycom, California - Polycom announced that Donald A. Williams, former Prysm Engineering Leader, has been named EVP of Worldwide Engineering.

Optiv Security, Colorado - Optiv Security named Stu Solomon, EVP of security solutions and operations as chief technology and strategy officer (CTSO).

Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, California - Genesys appointed Dr. Peter Graf as chief product officer (CPO), a new position for the company. Graf joins Genesys from Sungevity.

National Association of REALTORS, Illinois - SVP, Strategic Investments Mark Birschbach will lead a new Strategic Business Innovation & Technology group as SVP.

Harris Insights & Analytics, New York - Merrill Raman will be CIO. Merrill joins Harris from The Hayat Group.

WTWH Media, Ohio - WTWH Media named Dan Kara, technology business analyst and integrated media veteran, has joined WTWH as VP, Robotics and Intelligent Systems. Previously, Kara was Research Director, Robotics at ABI Research and Chief Research Officer for Myria RAS.

Cardlytics, Georgia - Cardlytics announced that Sathish Gaddipati has been named CTO. Formerly SVP and Head of Technology at Cardlytics.

Strava, California - Strava named Stephanie Hannon as Chief Product Officer. Hannon, an ex-Googler who served as CTO on the Hillary for America campaign, joins Strava to lead the next chapter of the company's product and platform expansion.

Payrailz, Connecticut - Payrailz announced introduction of Orlando Santos as its VP of product. Santos joins Payrailz from Webster Bank’s Treasury and Payment Solutions group where he managed the bank’s ACH, electronic bill presentment and payment and mobile banking solutions.

Centra Tech, Florida - Centra Tech hires Enrique Perez as CISO. Perez spent the last 15 years with VISA, mostly recently as the senior information security and compliance officer for Global Service Operations.

Europe, Middle East & Africa 

ARCADIS NV, Netherlands - Arcadis appointed Justin Wright as CIO for its North and Latin America regions. Wright joined Arcadis in 2007 and brings 20 years of professional experience in the design, consulting, real estate, and aviation industries.

SSM Holding AB, Sweden - SSM Holding AB (publ) has recruited Jan Michelson for the new position of CIO. Jan most recently was head of IT at Vårdförbundet (the Swedish Association of Health Professionals) and head of IT infrastructure and information security at Almi Företagspartner.

Softonic International, Spain - Softonic appointed Joan Miquel Espada, technical management specialist, as its new VP of Technology.


Motor Fuel Group, United Kingdom - Motor Fuel Group has appointed Paresh Patel as its new IT director. Prior to this appointment, Patel worked for HTEC Ltd. as director of forecourt sales.

Tabcorp Holdings, Australia - Tabcorp Holdings named Mandy Ross as CIO. Former CIO of Tatts Group.

Tuniu Corporation, China - Tuniu Corporation promoted Shihong Chen from VP to CTO. Chen joined Tuniu in 2011 and was previously the head of the transportation business unit.

OFX Group, Australia - OFX Group Limited appointed Ms. Wendy Glasgow as CTO of OFX. Glasgow joins OFX from Google where she led the Asia Pacific (APAC) Advanced Data Solutions team.


UNBXD Software, India - Unbxd welcomed Jayanth Vijayaraghavan as SVP of Engineering and Ravi Maira as SVP of Product. Jayanth comes to Unbxd from Instart Logic.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
