CEO Succession Planning at Communications Products Company

Harris Corporation announced that it is implementing a CEO succession plan after Howard Lance, 55, its Chairman, President and CEO, advised the Board of Directors that he plans to retire at the end of the next fiscal year. Lance joined Harris in 2003 as President and CEO and was appointed Chairman of the board later that year.

Chairman Succession at Memory Chip Maker

Rambus announced that Bruce Dunlevie, 52, has stepped down as Chairman and as a member of the Company's Board of Directors. Dunlevie indicated that his decision to leave the Board is due to his increased responsibilities at Benchmark Capital. Thomas Bentley has been elected by the Company's Board of Directors to succeed Dunlevie as Chairman. Bentley has been a Director on the Rambus Board since 2005 and has served as MD at SVB Alliant, an M&A firm which he co-founded in 1990.

Diplomat on Entegris Board

Entegris, a semiconductor equipment and materials company, announced that former U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Burns has joined the Company's Board of Directors. Burns is currently Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy and International Politics at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He currently serves as a Director of the Aspen Strategy Group and as a Senior Counsellor at the Cohen Group. Burns served in the US Foreign Service for twenty-seven years up until his retirement in 2008. Previously, he has held titles such as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, U.S. Ambassador to NATO, and U.S. Ambassador to Greece. Prior to that, Burns served as State Department Spokesman for Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

Transmission Equipment Company Appoints Chairman and CEO

Tekelec has appointed Hubert de Pesquidoux, 45, as the Chairman of its Board. He replaces Mark Floyd who did not stand for re-election. De Pesquidoux has been a Director on Tekelec’s board since 2009. Earlier, he served as President of the Enterprise Business Group and as CFO at Alcatel-Lucent. Prior to these roles, he was a member of the Alcatel Executive Committee. De Pesquidoux has held a variety of executive positions during his 20 plus years with Alcatel-Lucent, including EVP, President, COO of Alcatel North America, CEO of Alcatel Canada, and CFO of Alcatel USA.

Ron DeLange, 52, has been named President & CEO. He takes over for Krish Prabhu who was serving as Tekelec’s interim CEO & Board member. DeLange has also been appointed to the company's Board of Directors. He joined Tekelec in 2005 as President and GM for the Network Signalling Group and was promoted to EVP of Global Product Solutions in 2007. Prior to Tekelec, DeLange spent 24 years at Lucent Technologies.

New Chairman at Energy Storage Component Maker

Maxwell Technologies announced that Mark Rossi, 54, has been elected Chairman of the company's Board of Directors. Rossi succeeds Robert Guyett, 74, who was re-elected to the company's Board and continues to serve as Chairman of the Audit Committee. Rossi is a Senior MD of Cornerstone Equity Investors, a New York-based private equity firm. He also serves on the Board of Cardtronics, the world's largest non-bank ATM operator. He joined Maxwell's Board in 1997 and is Chairman of Maxwell's Compensation Committee.


Longtimer Ann Livermore Joins Board and Leaves Exec Role

HP announced that Ann Livermore, 51, has been elected to the HP Board. She has been with HP for about 29 years and has been instrumental in helping countless HP customers grow and transform their businesses. While she will step down from her day-to-day management of the HP Enterprise Business, Livermore will contribute valuable guidance to the organization as a member of the Board.

Former IBM Exec and FileNET CEO Named to Unisys Board

The IT Services company announced that Lee Roberts, 58, was elected to its Board of Directors and was appointed to the Compensation Committee. Roberts is the CEO and President of BlueWater Consulting, a high-tech management consulting company. Prior to that, he was GM & VP of Document, Content, and Business Process Management at IBM. Roberts was with FileNET from 1997 until 2006 when it was acquired by IBM. He served as the company’s Chairman and CEO from 2000 to 2006, as its President and CEO from 1998 to 2000, and as its President and COO from 1997 to 1998. Prior to FileNET, Roberts spent twenty years at IBM, where he held numerous senior management, sales, and marketing roles. Roberts is also a director at enterprise business software provider QAD.

Online Services Provider Appoints New Board Member

Clearwire appointed Bruce Chatterley, 48 as a Director on its Board. Most recently, Chatterley served as President of Business Markets for Megapath, a nationwide competitive local exchange carrier. Prior to Megapath, he was President and CEO of Speakeasy, a division of Best Buy, and VP of Best Buy. Before Best Buy, he was CEO of ViAir, a developer of wireless mobile messaging software, and President of Small and Mid Markets for Concur Technologies, a developer of travel and expense management services. Before starting at Concur in 1999, Chatterley obtained extensive executive and management experience with companies such as Ameritech Corporation, US West, General Electric Company, and IBM.

CEO of Citi Venture on Application Service Provider Board

Camelot Information Systems announced the appointment of Dipak Kumar Rastogi, 57, as an independent director on the company's Board. Currently, Rastogi is the CEO of Citi Venture Capital International. He joined Citibank in 1982 and has formerly served as Group Executive Head of 38 countries in EMEA, EVP and Co-Head of the Global Markets business, Head of the Global Derivatives business, and Global Co-Head of Corporate Finance. Rastogi has previously served on the boards of several global IT Services companies including Keane International, Polaris Software, and i-Flex Solutions.


CFO on Juniper Networks’ Board

Mercedes Johnson, 55, has joined as a Director on the Board of Juniper Networks. In the past, Johnson served as SVP & CFO at Avago and as SVP & CFO at Lam Research. She also held executive leadership and management roles at Applied Materials, Nanometrics, NCR, and HP.

Ex- Microsoft Finance Executive on CIBER Board

CIBER, a global information technology consulting and managed services company, announced that Jean-Francois Heitz, 60, has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Most recently, Heitz served as Deputy CFO & Treasurer at Microsoft. Before joining Microsoft in 1989, he worked at Matra SA, United Wemco Europe, and Air Liquide. Heitz serves on the boards of Arc International and Total Immersion. He also sits on the Advisory Board of the Stanford Technology Venture Program.


Security Software Company Recruits Director

Diversinet, a leader in "Connected and Protected" mobile healthcare communications, appointed Alan Portela, a mHealth strategist and innovator, to its Board of Directors. Additionally, Portela will serve as Chairman of the newly formed Diversinet Executive Advisory Board. He is currently a board member for AirStrip Technologies and CliniComp. Additionally, he serves as an adviser to InTouch Health and Accenture.

New Directors at Miniaturization Technologies Company

Tessera Technologies announced that it elected Robert Boehlke, 69, to its Board. Boehlke currently serves on the Board of Directors for MEMC Electronic Materials. Previously, he served on the board of directors at LTX, Entegris, QuickLogic, DuPont Photomasks, and Semi-Sematech. During his 17-year tenure with KLA-Tencor, he held a variety of management positions, including COO, EVP, and CFO.

David Nagel, 65, has also been added to Tessera’s Board. Most recently, Nagel was President and CEO of PalmSource, a leading provider of operating system software platforms for smart mobile devices. Prior to PalmSource, Nagel was CTO at AT&T and President of AT&T Labs. He has previously served as SVP at Apple Computer and had a long career at NASA’s Ames Research Center as head of human factors research. Nagel is also a member of the board of directors of Arcsoft, Epocrates, and Leapfrog Technologies.

Emulex Taps Industry Leader

Emulex, a storage networking equipment company, announced that industry leader Nersi Nazari has been appointed to its Board of Directors. In 2003, Nazari founded Pacific General Ventures, a company which invests in semiconductor and software companies. He currently serves as Executive Chairman of Vigilo Networks. Before Pacific General, he was a VP at Marvell Semiconductor and a Chief Technologist at GEC Plessey Semiconductor. He has also held various engineering positions with Seagate Technology and Digital Equipment Corporation.

CTO on Networking Equipment Company Board

Infinera announced that Mark Wegleitner has joined its Board of Directors. Most recently, Wegleitner was the SVP of Technology at Verizon Communications. From 2000 to 2007, Mr. Wegleitner was CTO of Verizon Communications. Prior to Verizon, he held a series of positions at Bell Atlantic, Bell Laboratories, and AT&T.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults,, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
